Was saying that earlier I think I got 45ish. I actually stopped playing with randoms, I swear me overdozez and someone sat in lobby for 15 minutes before we found another reliable gaffer to get with.

What playlists is Sword Base still in? I feel like every new playlist they come out with magically lacks Sword Base. Not that the sniper can save that map, but I'm a little curious to play it with the sniper and the new location of the GL.
Its very popular in Multi-Team. :D The GL being on the second floor I believe will help remove Yellow lift campers.

Premium playlists seem to give more credits for game complete than other playlists.
The DLC playlists are always hyped up with extra credits to encourage purchase! :p

Ya'll might enjoy this. Halo 4 Reaction video

"We don't want to fragment the Reach MP userbase" Fuck that- If they knew people would play it- why do they give a fuck if it divides the fanbase- people are still playing Halo. I think they didn't put Halo CE MP in because it would be fucking hard, time consuming/conflicting with deadlines and would fuck the game up. I kinda wish Franky just said- "It would fuck our game up"- they don't have to give us any other reason besides that. When they say it would fragment the Halo MP userbase it just sounds like Big Business bullshit (which Halo is, but fuck I don't wanna actually think about that) I really hope when talking to the press in the future, in context to why CE MP was left out- they just simply say it would screw the game up that you remember and love- thats all. [/rant]

If there was one simple answer, we'd give it, and stick to it, but the truth is there are a few big reasons and dozens of tiny ones. Making games is complicated. It's better to be honest about the choices than hiding behind some fake PR. We knew this would cause outrage and it wasn't an easy decision, but believe me, it was necessary given the time constraints involved.

As for big business - this project was conceived in its entirety, within 343. It was not handed down from some corporate cloud.

I knew that if CEA existed, then there would be no multiplayer. I explained the reasons why at length and thought it would be obvious too so I was honestly shocked that people were disappointed by the lack of it's inclusion.
-_- My thinking was that there would be no point in remaking Halo:CE without the matchmaking. The matchmaking is what people have wanted on xbox-live for the last 7-8 years, not some campaign that we can play right now and appreciate without any graphical overhaul. They shouldn't have even ventured into Halo:CE territory if matchmaking was not an option. So dumb. Let me say that again: SO DUMB! So mind-blowingly dumb... (this is not directed at Dani)
ANTOINE_DODSON_ANIMATED.gif

Remaking the campaign with Reach graphics and tweaks was a lot of work, I'm sure. I mean seriously, that couldn't have been easy? Why didn't they do the matchmaking instead of the campaign? The applause would have shaken the heavens and then they could have avoided the outrage. The number of people upset by the exclusion of the campaign would have flip flopped with how many people are happy about the campaign-only remake.

How was this not obvious to anyone thinking about redoing Halo:CE? So in my mind, either the remake was happening and we were getting matchmaking, or we weren't getting anything at all and the whole thing was a farce. The fragmented player population excuse, like Lazslo already mentioned, is such a poor excuse.
Dani said:
I've been further surprised by just how important CE's multiplayer seems to be to some folks. The fact that people won't even buy CEA because of the lack of CE multiplayer in spite of every it does have, and reduced RRP, is just mind blowing.

CE Multiplayer inclusion would have been sweet but still, the reaction is just fierce in some areas.
ww0qd3.gif

It should have been a given, knowing how passionate some people are about the original Halo:CE multiplayer part of the game. I'm still blown away by the fact that 343i had the balls to redo what nobody asked for and exclude what everyone wanted. They have balls of steel, lol.

Haha right after I post, of course lol. I appreciate the explanation. If time constraints were a problem then there isn't much you guys can do. Although for Halo:CE matchmaking on xbox-live I could wait years if I knew that it was really going to happen.
I still think doing campaign over matchmaking was a horrible idea.

We just want great balanced maps and classic Halo gameplay. No armor abilities, bloom, equipment or other gimmicks.

That's why we are so bummed about no Halo 1 or Halo 2 online multiplayer. Don't let us down with Halo 4.

Yeah, the armor abilities would be completely fine if things like armor lock were clutch abilities, and opposed to a crutch ability. There shouldn't be any reward or satisfaction for removing yourself from the game for 6 seconds. And it's a stupid lengthy guessing game for your instantly disadvantaged opponent.

Really poorly thought out skill.

Yeah, I'm sure that you've been waiting the last 10 years for a remake of Halo:CE's campaign. Give me a break. If you've been a fan of halo since Combat Evolved and haven't been in a bomb shelter this whole time, you should have some idea of the number of people who have been or at least had been pleading for Combat Evolved's multiplayer to be put on xbox-live. Maybe I generalize things too much, but only a minority (and that's probably being way too generous) can say they've been wanting and waiting for a campaign remake.

I'm not talking about people who are okay with everything after the fact. I'm talking about before we even knew what was going on.

Lyphen said:

Fixed.

Seriously though, over the course of development, Bungie failed to be able to step back and look at armor lock objectively, as a whole, and see it's impacts on gameplay. Not really ripping them, things like this happen in game development all the time, especially over games with long dev cycles.

And honestly, that's my hope for 343's classic update. Even if it doesn't remove bloom, please find a way to give us that classic feel for Reach.

And if 343 can't do it, please let us know why. I would love a clear explanation. I'm so ignorant when it comes to game making that I have no idea what is reasonably possible.

I agree here. I hope 343 is more transparent with their decisions.

Transparency is fine up to a point. Bungie did a job job for the most part when explaining their decisions with Halo but it's a fine line between being open and explaining issues to fans and fans demanding and expecting answers every single a decision is made that they disagree with (and for every choice made someone will always disagree with it).

The one thing I would like to see in future with Halo's multiplayer (whether it be Reach or future games) is slightly more openness regarding updates to matchmaking as this has a significant and ongoing impact on a massive group of players. Often we see many changes but very little explanation surrounding them. Usually these changes are made in reaction to obvious issues players have but it would be beneficial to explain some of these changes to folks. Shishka and NinjaOnFire have both laid a great framework and I'd see that expanded in future.

For the record- I'm not hating on 343's decisions- Shit, I would sadly follow whatever you guys do blindly. I think ever since E3 2008-I'm just a crazy cynic when it comes to Microsoft and Halo. Thanks for the honestly though. I couldn't imagine being the one to tell crazy Halo fans that they are remaking Halo 1, but forgetting to add MP- Shit I thought my job was stressful. Your the hero we needed you to be.

And to be fair, you've told us many of the reasons why. You know my take on the package revealed so far, but 343 has been very up front with the reasoning for why it was crafted the way it was.

....

One of my most memorable Halo 3 moments was a one-bomb game on Last Resort where we went up 2-0, and the other team quit en mass, except for two players. And everyone on our team - randoms, the lot - decided to let them score. The other two guys came in with the bomb through the sea wall, and we ran at them in a pack...but no one shot. They got the idea right away, and we all escorted them together to the bomb plant zone, and huddled up around the bomb as it blew.

It was a hilarious, wonderful display of good sportsmanship.

I was bummed GAF wasn't capable of such tonight. :\

I'm not going to name names, but that was entirely Dani's fault. ;^p

Hopefully my post from earlier didn't sound like I was demanding an answer. I'm just naturally curious, and I'd like to know why certain things are too impractical to happen.

I don't think anyone will mistake you for me, lol. And yes, they do have to put up with a lot of crazy people
OLLO!
. I understand that 343i is simply trying to put together the next awesome chapter in Halo. But that should also mean that all opinions are important, even the bad. While I appreciate what they do, I'm still going to dish out the unruly opinions, if it will contribute, (even minutely), to a better game in the end. I've already accepted that I'm probably Gaf's worst and dumbest poster in a lot of people's eyes. That's my allotment in this thread and I'm cool with that as long as the next Halo is good. Everyone else is really good about not stepping on people's toes and not offending people, but I just lack the tact. Still, I doubt anyone at 343i is laying awake in bed tonight crying over anything I've said
except Frankie, lol
