Usually there are APIs available, or websites will track population figures better than the games themselves. I don't know if 343i will have any of those set up, but I'm sure they would have been available by now.

I've bought the game from US store but I'm in Norway, will it unlock my time or US time? Never pre-ordered on Xbox marketplace before. If US, what timezone?

I dont think so. Mine unlocks later when it unlocks in the us where I bought from.
But if you bought it in the eu, it will unlock the day it becomes available. Thursday or friday I think.

Is the patch just the competitive multiplayer or do we know if its the co-op as well. I dont have Xbox Live Gold so it would be nice if I can just skip downloading it altogether.
You are still gonna want to download the patch. I believe it fixes some performance issues with the halo 1 campaign

I decided to download instead of buying a physical copy so I could download the TU nice and early. Now I'm seeing people get theirs today and I'm sat here with a 58 gb (even though it's supposed to be 59.1?) game on my hard drive.
Either way I want some people to play with. I've been playing halo since the CE but have only been playing online since reach so I am very curious to see pre reach multiplayer.

This just makes me wish Reach and ODST were getting the remaster treatment as well.
Reach was the best campaign of the series IMO.(ODST was fantastic in its own right)

IIRC you can have one person split-screen locally, and as long as they're signed into Live you can then play with 2 other people online for a total of 4.
There is no 4 player splitscreen for co op campaign though, only for local multiplayer (or multiplayer over Live with 4 local players).
Isn't it sad how far internet speeds have come and yet how little latency has improved, especially overseas? One would think that by now we'd have sub-50ms pings from one continent to another.

Xbox discs data are usually the same as their digital counterparts. I want to say yes but Halo could be some weird exception to the case.
Download the patches without downloading anything? No.
But to actually answer your question, you just need a licence to play, either a disk or digital. It doesn't care where you installed it from.
you know what sucks even more?
having cleared work and still be sitting reading this thread until digital shit unlock...!
