Halo CE mp sucks, the guns are all useless except the pistol, the hitboxes are bad, you have to lead shots and the pistol has random spread, spawning in the open and being insta shot by the enemy team is shit. Also halo 2 spawns suck. First spawn in BtB i literally spawn in the middle of the other team

CE Pistol only has a random spread if you hold the trigger down. It's pinpoint accurate if you pull the trigger for every shot. Shotgun, Plasma Rifle, AR and Plasma Pistol are far from useless, just situational. Pistol can be used in all situations and handle itself, it's a utility weapon that gives you a fighting chance against Rockets and Sniper, and allows you to win the CQC battles versus the close range weapons, so long as you land your shots.

CE Hitboxes are extremely strict, and the shoddy Gamespy netcode doesn't translate well to those unforgiving, yet fair hitboxes. Playing CE online has its own learning curve, and it's a moving target depending on the host. So unless you play it A LOT, and pay attention to the different connections and how it is affecting your shots, you're gonna have a tough time.

It felt sluggish compared to the other Halos, armor abilities were a bad addition, the map quality was the worst in the franchise at that point, Invasion was a great concept on paper but in all of my experiences matches were usually heavily in favor of the defensive team.

I, subjectively, think Reach has the worst campaign in the franchise too - below even Halo 4.
Story wise, i think its the best, it had a contained cohesive story with a solid ending. I cant recall many of the SP encounters tho.

I did like the Reach campaign as well. The multiplayer, eh. Same with 4. Campaign, cool, whatever. Multiplayer eh x2. At this point my expectations are low for multiplayer and I'm only supporting for the campaigns. I'll have the trilogy to keep me company for online gaming (if they ever get fixed and working that is)

I'm not saying as a main Halo game.

Disagree strongly on all points.
I don't think it became sluggish like 4 did.
I think armor abilities were a unique addition that the game felt well-built around. Not everyone's cup of tea, and not something neccessary for the mainline Halo games, but still fun when the game builds itself around them.
I thought a lot of the maps were awesome. In fact, there aren't many I didn't like.
I loved Invasion.
And I don't care for Halo campaigns in general, though Reach was the only one I bothered to finish.

I hate how Reach being different and being treated like the evolution of Halo made people hate it. Learn to accept it as a different Halo game, and it is an awesome game, arguably as good as the mainline ones, in my opinion. That said the DLC for it sucked.

i actually really enjoyed Reach i though the campaign was really good and the MP was just fine. Did not like drm bloom though, armor had it's moments but ehh.

If I remember right Reach's campaign directly conflicts with the events in Fall of Reach (the book) which pissed me off because Fall of Reach is a better story in every single way.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Oh yeah, I was speaking to MP only.

Reach's SP was really good. Possibly my favorite of the bunch. I typically say the first - but I think that's just nostalgia talking.

Agreed, but I honestly loved Invasion and wish it would make a return at some point. I'll never quite understand some of the love that Reach's campaign got when it released. It felt like a greatest hits collection of missions that never reached the high points that any of the others did.

We doing this Halo 3 looks like an OXbox game again?

Halo 3's netcode is objectively better than Halo 2's.

The ranking system was much more functional and didn't suffer from matchmake problems like Halo 2's did. There's a reason why the MCC only has the Halo 2 rank as a visual, it's not actually being used for skillmatch.

I thought 343 said it was identical to Halo 2's, ie winning levels up and losing levels down?

It really does feel like this in spots. I don't remember much about Reach's campaign anymore but I remember one mission starting up and me immediately going "isn't this just Truth and Reconciliation again?"

Hey, so I haven't had a chance to play the last two days. Is multiplayer still messed up? I'm trying to decide whether I should go to sleep or get a few matches in.

It's better than it was on launch day but you'll still be eyeing up 2-4 minute waits for matches. If the rest of the game didn't have a ton of bugs, I'd be totally okay with these waits.

Im so glad im not the only one who hates halo 3. I hate fighting brutes, game is, was, and always will be ugly, i hate fighting brutes, the enviorments were bland, and i hate fighting brutes.

Also in my opinion has the 2nd worst map selection behind Reach. Guardian is about the only original map I really like. I much prefer halo 4's maps, only for the later 3 dlc packs. I think most of the dlc maps after the first 3 in halo 4 are actually pretty fun!

Brutes were definitely a step back from Elites in every way. Armor wasn't as cool. They were easier to kill. Their signature melee weapon wasn't as cool.

Who paid you to grab Dr. Pavel?
I miss Halo Reach's Invasion game type.

Yep, I was so stoked when that was first announced. Then nobody really played it and quitters ruined the matches. It also ruined BTB by having those Invasion maps like Spire and Boneyard in the rotation, which were awful for reg. BTB.

But yes, it could have been so much more.

I might be alone on this but storywise I really loved the campaign of Halo 4. Also Reach, and the ori... Ah fuck it, I like them all. The Halo Universe and how it expanded, really glad I'm a tiny part of this awesome universe.

Having said that, back when Bungie left, there was a ViDoc about Reach and I was under the impression that the original mp style they where going for in past Halos was always in the line of HR. Can't remember precisely, but it seem to be implied heavily blaming tight schedules and hardware limitation.

The visual rank does, yes, and that's the way the ranking system has worked in every Halo.

They're very clearly using an actual Trueskill matching to actually do the skillmatching. The H2 ranking system itself has longer search times and many other issues.

You can prove this by using the custom games glitch to rank yourself way up to 15 or 30 or whatever, it'll still match you against 1s in the playlist because the invisible rank isn't being ranked up in the customs, just the visual rank.

I explained it over at HBO:

Internet high-five. The maps are among the worse in the series, though I did here there was something decent as DLC, but the sucky maps turned me off of the game hard.

you are ridiculous. THE PIT. Guardian was the blueprint for the perfect small map. Contruct, Narrows, Standoff, VALHALLA

Surface of Me

I'm not an NPC. And neither are we.
Elites are more challenging, have better signature weapons and look sexier.

Some of those Brute packs can be nasty and how can you hate on the hammer?

Nah, going back through the campaigns right now has verified it for me. Brute fights in Halo 2 and Halo 3 are extremely rinse and repeat IMO.

Perhaps Halo 2, but I disagree on Halo 3.

Also, Brutes introduced the best new vehicle to the Halo sandbox, da Chopper. Better be in Halo 5, Frankie.

So im just blown away with H2A online, its just incredible. I just had a team slayer match on Zanzibar that should be a highlight reel. While I only went +3 we just tore ass up, my worthog driver was splattering them faster than I could MG them. Got some swiper kills in Froman's vandalized camp. Where can I just shout "this is so fuckin good!" Over and over?

So I just found out you can't even Forge anything other than Slayer in Halo 3

The gametype menu for Halo 3 Forge is missing. Normally you can hit “start” and select the gametype you want to edit the map for. This menu is missing in the MCC.
This means that forgers cannot place objective game objects on maps, including bomb spawn points and bomb plants. As a result, Halo 3 Grifball (and all other custom objective game maps) cannot be created in Halo 3 Forge.

Those plasma rifles on elites are like sniper rifles some times on legendary
