I had forgotten just how miserable the last third of CE's campaign was. I must have repressed the memory.
I'm pretty sure I fucked myself on the very last sequence too. Got checkpoint with only a sliver of health left. Probably have to restart the whole mission to finish.

Yeah I gave up on the last 5 minutes of CE. I just watched the ending cutscene on YouTube. I'll finish it one day.

I Haven't been keeping up, but can anybody tell me what the deal is with voice chat in this game? I haven't tried plugging a mic but shouldn't the Kinect work instead? I've heard one or two guys talking so far. Also, I'm genuinely amazed by how shit this launch has been, and how many problems/bugs there are. It's actually quite impressive.

I played some H3 customs and hated them. People talk about halo 2 being a let down - I love it. Halo 3 is definitely the worst in the series IMO.

You have to enable Kinect voice chat in settings. Don't though, nobody wants to hear that.
Cross game party chat has spoilt game chat. That might be why you're not hearing anyone.

Does the sound seem somewhat compressed and hollow for certain things to anyone else? Finally got into halo 3 and I remember the ar having a better cracking sound when fired with some base mixed in?

I started to play Halo 2002 and enjoyed Halo 3 the most, campaign and multiplayer.

Literally the only good thing Halo 3 did was eliminate button combos (to my knowledge). Everything else about Halo 3's multiplayer just didn't compare to CE and 2 for me. Halo 3's maps are definitely a step down from CE and 2.

Halo 3 lovers need to stick to their corner of the Halo verse and stay away from the only playlist people can enjoy Halo2 and Halo CE. Get that filthiness away from our purity. =)

Yep, removing button combos was nice... and the graphics were improved. But that's about it.
The biggest issue is truly the maps. They're just a MASSIVE step down from the phenomenal Halo 2, and the good-but-not-quite-as-great Halo 1 map collection.
Reach's maps were even worse. Reach was the first Halo game where I felt a good portion of the maps were legitimately "bad." Not "not great." Nope, bad.
Though I really liked Invasion... wish we'd get that back. Was easily one of my favorite modes.
Halo 4 improved a bit - they at least were easier to follow and had better choke points. But they were too enclosed. I love the open nature of 1 and 2.

MCC is so screwed up it's messing with peoples NAT. My brother had this happen all day, kept going from open to restricted to open.
I'd play Halo 3 over Reach and 4 any day though. Halo 3 you could definitely see missteps. But give me a break. Give me Guardian, The Pit, Heretic over the shit in Reach and 4 anyday.
Plus, I've played one match in Halo 3 so far. When it works, it's still as fun as ever.
My favorites were CE/2, but once this matchmaking starts, I'll be playing the hell out of Halo 3 nonstop as well. 8v8 at 60fps on Sandtrap with choppers flying everywhere. Can't wait.
Also, if anyone from 343 is reading, the game has now frozen both times after match ends and I have to press guide, go to Xbox OS, quit game, and then restart it.

It just did me a favor then cause it was on moderate before I got an Xbox One. Might not even touch MCC now. Time to dive in to Killer Instinct yay.

Anyone know how to get rid of the "unlocked movies in extras" notification that pops up (like unlocking avatars and nameplates)? Do I have to watch stuff on halo channel?

Just tried this with my buds and it was unplayable. At points the frame rate had to be in the teens.

I feel Halo 2 is the easiest to snipe in. Maybe I'm losing it but it always felt like the fire rate was faster in 2 resulting in two quick shots if you didn't land a headshot.
To the people who hate Halo 3, why do you venture into the playlists? Having luck finding players in TS or you wanna play CE?
More times than not you already know people are gonna vote BRs. So that already excludes Halo CE, likely. It always came down to H2 and H3 whenever I came into that playlist.

Halo CE mp sucks, the guns are all useless except the pistol, the hitboxes are bad, you have to lead shots and the pistol has random spread, spawning in the open and being insta shot by the enemy team is shit. Also halo 2 spawns suck. First spawn in BtB i literally spawn in the middle of the other team

The pistol is arguably too good at what it does but the other guns still have plenty of use. Plasma pistol and rifle will both stun enemies and lock them into place for a split second with each hit. The CE shotgun is probably the best shotgun in the franchise. The sniper rifle is still beastly in the hands of someone who can use it. Grenades in CE are mini nukes. CE Pistol is easily the best weapon in the game and the fact that you spawn with it does kind of kill incentive to get certain weapons, but those other weapons are still pretty good. In MCC i've even had success with the CE Assault Rifle and I think the CE AR is one of the more useless guns in the game not named the Needler.

Learn the ways of the pistol and it will reward you. Plasma rifle is very useful, try it. It slows down enemies.

Halo 3's netcode is objectively better than Halo 2's.
The ranking system was much more functional and didn't suffer from matchmake problems like Halo 2's did. There's a reason why the MCC only has the Halo 2 rank as a visual, it's not actually being used for skillmatch.
It felt sluggish compared to the other Halos, armor abilities were a bad addition, the map quality was the worst in the franchise at that point, Invasion was a great concept on paper but in all of my experiences matches were usually heavily in favor of the defensive team.
I, subjectively, think Reach has the worst campaign in the franchise too - below even Halo 4.
