The problem is that I died and came back the room where is Keyes, now I always die when I open the gate and some strong elites show up throwing a bunch of granades.

Just chuck a million grenades in there (and watch out for dropped grenades because they'll blow up too). And a hint for the Flood in that room: if you enter one of the doors they come out of, no more of them will spawn until you head back into the main room.

I loved two betrayals just because of how open it was and the battles between the flood and the covenant felt so amazing at the time. you had dozens of AI interacting with each other and with you, along with vehicles and flying vehicles.. back at the xbox launch this was some truly amazing shit.

And flying to the various locations even though it was like a canyon really felt amazing too at the time.

Environments simply weren't that large on consoles, especially in FPS games.

The closest thing might have been the Quake 2 port but even that was scaled back due to console ram limitations. The PS1 version of Quake 2 is seriously impressive for the hardware but halo is on a whole other level.

Halo 1 + Halo 2 ran on 64 MB hardware.

Still mindblowing in retrospect.

So...why does the Halo 1 run like utter shit with the "enhanced" graphics??? I don't know jack about tech stuff, but it doesn't even look like a graphically demanding upgrade to warrant the frame drops. Is that something they're going to fix or should I just go with the original option

I am not loading this game until Wednesday. But I am following this thread :p
Please 343, hopefully that patch fixes all the major issues.

I'd be very, very surprised if the game is running smooth on Wednesday. At this point we'd be lucky to get into matches in a timely manner let alone getting even teams and staying with parties. What an utter waste of my time.

I had no idea Halo 2 was this short, I'm only two and a half hours in and I am already on mission 10 or so out of 15?
Been loving my time with it, though I see it as something I will be coming to for years so I am trying to sip it as slowly as possible.

Go with the original graphics. Anniversary graphics, even when they aren't shitting up the framerate, are way too busy to tell what's going on. Not to mention the inconsistencies in geometry make for lots of frustrations.

thats weird. i havent had any issues with Halo 1s framerate. anyway i think the original graphics are too muddy and dark.

For some reason my first attempt near bunshee did not saved in the way. Now it seems it did got a checkpoint! I think I can do it now! :)
Thanks for the tips! I did threw a lot of granades there!

Edit:
Yup! Did it o/

Not too sure. There's a ton of campaign, saving, achievement and multiplayer issues that are going to need ironing out. The wednesday patch may fix a few things and perhaps lessen waiting times for matches, but this game won't fully operate as it was intended for quite a while.

Yep.

There are just too many issues for one patch to fix. We can only hope it's "good enough" come Wednesday.

Still can't believe how broken the MP still is. Three matches tonight all of them had even number people. Before the game started it showed even teams, when the game started it was 7v3, 3v1, or 2v4. It's almost as if they didn't even test it before releasing it. Not giving me good signs for the Halo 5 beta.

3 levels were cut before launch.

Speculation says it's a desert level as there is an official wallpaper that showcased Master Chief and his dual smgs with a tank and warthog in the background.

I think we just got bigger versions of the levels in Halo 3 but no confirmation on that.

Didn't have the severe framerate issues people are talking about, but I can confirm the geometry thing is annoying as shit. Trying to peak around the corner of a rock or wall to shoot only to find your bullets hit an invisible wall which just happens to be the edge of the original scenery because the anniversary edition scaled down some of the models for some reason is really fucking annoying.

Good thing it's a beta, and things are expected to be broken. :)

Truth and Reconciliation is nearly impossible to play in anniversary mode for the beginning sections.

Hey GAF, is anyone having audio issues with MCC? I have encountered numerous instances and I'm just wondering if it's my fault.

When playing Halo 2 campaign, new and old, I encounter multiple delays in sounds, and some sounds not even being played.

Online, Halo 2 classic sounds are the same. Sometimes I'll here a reload and sometimes no sound at all. I can't here players sounds around me either sometimes.

Also, Halo 3 does this too.

I remember the documentary that came with the LE of Halo 2 had them mentioning something along those lines. Side note: that doc is fantastic and extremely worth a viewing. More games need to come with documentaries in their special editions.

Try rebooting the game. Highlight it, press the hamburger icon (i.e. start button) on the dashboard and select Quit. Then launch it again. You can also just reboot the Xbox in the settings menu (Power).

Otherwise, hope for patch fix.

I've noticed some GameDVR clips don't have the sound in sync for this game.

Great documentary although I always felt like it came off as an apology to the hardcore fans wishing Halo 2 was more like the single player teaser.

When I was attending university, I sat in on a lecture that Joe Staten presented an abbreviated autobiography and making of Halo. He showed some cutscenes (prophets berating arbiter for failing to protect halo) running on his laptop. Just some basic models with no animations in them.

I'll still remember what he said. 3 levels cut from the final game. Even to that moment, he (as a representative of Bungie) was still apologizing years after Halo 2's release.

I think they were really disappointed with the product of Halo 2's campaign.

Yeah, that's what I resorted to. I like the enhanced in some areas, but you're right about it being overly bright

Oh god yes. It's chop city whenever you go somewhere fairly open. Really strange stuff

Two more days. Come on, incoming matchmaking patch, do your magic!

you're setting yourself up here. keep those expectations LOW, then you wont be as disappointed.

hopefully it will be better, but i doubt everything will be fixed. and that's just matchmaking... there are so many other bugs to address with this collection.

I had never realized that Halo CE had a ton of monster closets until I played it on Legendary. And it really pisses me off on Assault on the Control Room. Kill all initial enemies in front of you, walk across a bridge, and get sandwiched in by a ton of enemies from both sides. Frustrating as hell.

im sure there are dips but nothing id describe as chop city. Halo 4 DEFINITELY gets choppy. im on my second play through of CEA and think it holds up well (dont know about co op)

May have been P2P.

Reminds me of Halo PC.

I've had excellent games with Halo CE for X1 as opposed to the PC version.
I've played at least a dozen CE matches in MM and they've all been terrible, I really hope it's going to get dedicated servers soon because I'm going to start backing out of games when Halo 1 maps get chosen. It's unplayable.

Didn't get this. Only some Warthog judder with CE Anniversary. Framerate drops to 30 in split-screen CEA. Otherwise smooth enough sailing.

Ah, nvm. Yeah. H2A also has a problem with geometry not matching. Getting shot through the edges of crates on the first level.
