LOL, they delayed the fucking patch. So much incompetence.. I think it might me a good time for me to come to term with the fact that the Halo franchise will die in the hands of this developer.

What if they found another bug and/or more bugs? The patch is still said to be coming this week. I don't see why this news makes things worse.

_______________

Everyone has a right to be super pissed and annoyed. Everyone. However, I don't think there is anyone here who rather a rush job that does it half-assed, than a proper fix.

The problem comes after things are fixed. Get ready for posts about "Too little too late" and "I moved on, sold the game, lol".

Won't be surprised by that at all. Like you said, people have a right to be mad but I don't get why waiting just 2-3 more days completely changes things and/or makes things worse if the game's update will greatly improve for it.

"Remember that time when the MCC released with bugs that weren't fixed for 2 weeks and it killed the Halo franchise completely?"... Said no one in their right mind.

Microsoft employees already lashing out at Halo community leaders

Well to be fair, Microsoft picked about a half dozen developers to work on MCC and the Halo IP overall. This is really Microsoft's bad, their management of this IP has been shit since Bungie left. Halo 3 and Reach playlist management, Halo CEA, Halo 4, Twin Stick Halo nonsense only on Tablets, and now MCC.

Isn't cert mostly there to make sure the game doesn't crash or brick your console? The game crashes constantly....

Yeah this game is a complete mess no way it passed any type of certification. It's not like the issues are rare occurances that slipped by.

LMAO. What a way to treat your fellow fans, MS.

It's not like they arn't working they A$$e$ off trying to fix this game. I don't think any thing like the halo MCC has been accomplished. 4 games, 5 different multiplayers...I'm not trying to justify what the MS employee did but most people complaining have no clue what it takes to design a game. They are delaying the update for a reason. it's not like they are trying to delay it just to piss off people. Don't get me wrong this is a real disappointment but i give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to them trying to fix this.

Yea easy question is if this product would have passed Cert if it wasn't a first party Microsoft title.

I doubt it.

I think that this collection was rushed out of the door just to get it out in time for the holiday season. It should've been delayed for another 5 or 6 months, at the very least.

Look at what has happened to this franchise since it entered the hands of 343 and then you may reconsider who is in their right mind.

My only comment on this matter is that they really shouldn't have promised Wednseday, given the scope of the problem.

Let's hope it's all fixed long before the Halo 5 beta hits!

That response is unfortunate. Please be clear, that tweet IN NO WAY represents 343.

We understand the frustration at the MM issues and the news of this short delay for the update.

Not a big problem. Like I said in my previous post, I just want the issues to be fixed. I'm perfectly fine with waiting a few more days if it means that the game will be working fine before the Black Friday/Holiday rush.

Update:

11.17 8:00PM Update

This week’s content update, which was originally scheduled for release this Wednesday, 11/19, will now be releasing later this week to allow for additional fixes, as well as the completion of the testing and certification process.

This content update includes a variety of fixes across the title, including Matchmaking performance issues, general UI and game stability improvements, as well as fixes for game-game specific issues in Halo: CE, Halo 2, and Halo 2: Anniversary, and more. The full patch notes will be posted later this week, in advance of the content update release.

Thank you for your continued patience

This is the first time I've ever been excited (or anxious, anxious is the word) to see patch notes.

It's there for a couple reasons, but bugs in the game is not one of them. Cert is for all things pertaining to Live and the console (usually making sure a game or update won't open up a hole for modding and such). The game got pushed through cert and seemingly "passed" the first time, probably to make the release date. As far as bugs and overall performance, that's all QA from the devs/third parties.

Definitely, I'm not angry with 343 in regards to the comment.

I've been highly satisfied with the MCC when it has worked for me thus far, and I'm still so thankful that 343 put forth the effort to give us this collection, regardless of any delay.

Before this collection, the only alternatives for Halo CE and 2 were on PC, which to me just isn't the same experience as I can get on Xbox Live.

Being able to play Halo CE online, with dedicated servers and voice chat is such a realized fantasy when I think back to my days of using Xbox Connect and the frustration that could be.

Thank God Far Cry 4 and Dragon Age come out tomorrow.

Good bye Halo

It's sad that I agree with you. It's just so hard to want to do anything in the game with all the issues it has so the proposition of new games is enticing. I expected to be playing MCC nonstop until the Halo 5 beta but now I'm really looking at GTA, DAI, and Far Cry as something else to play.

I can't believe that's a response from an official community rep. Career suicide.

You would have thought that after Adam Orth, MS employees would be a bit more savvy about correct usage of social media.

I just reached the Halo 4 campaign, and it's the only game I haven't played at all, let alone the countless playthroughs of all the others. The highest praise I usually hear for this game, is that the graphics are fantastic, and the game can truly be beautiful in natural environments, but in forerunner structures, I'm constantly blinded by bloom and lens flare. The lighting feels far too overdone.

The gameplay also feels far more... canned, I think is a good word. Halo always felt like a fluid physics based world that you could interact with seamlessly and encouraged experimentation. When I reached the exterior of the first level, I expected to have the lovely low gravity from Halo 2's exterior ship part, but instead, I controlled exactly as indoors. But worse than that, I COULDN'T USE GRENADES. Did they just disable them for the section without explanation?!

I'll ignore the "cinematic" sections and sprint because I'm sure people have discussed those previously, but I feel there are many other terrible design choices. Halting gameplay to press every single switch? As someone who relished running through combat to just hit the switch and keep moving, just to see if I could get away with this, can't stand this halt every single time I reach a waypoint. Also, why was the wire frame view of landscapes that was previously used in Halo 3 for the sniper scope and ghost view screen, was removed from the ghost, but added to the fuel rod cannon?

Speaking of ghosts, why do they now have limited boost? The first time I actually had a reason to boost to the limit, it's in a section where they change the rules and give unlimited boost. Even more annoying, was in this section, I was playing co-op, and if I ever reached a jump before my partner, it would halt me right at the edge until he caught up, dooming my jump.

I have more issues, but I'm having a lot of trouble having fun with this game. The pistol seems to be the only improvement I've found so far. Has anyone else notice other baffling elements of the campaign? I can't be the only one completely confused by the thoughts behind it.

Ok, me as a brand new Halo player, that have never played any of the series ever before, just finished Halo CE. Ignoring some problems related to this collection (such as the achievement bug), these are my quick impressions:

+Fantastic gunplay (it doesnt felt aged at all to me)
+Interesting history
+Wonderfull soundtrack (I've played with classic soundtrack)
+Surprising AI (probably the best one I've seen since F.E.A.R and TLoU)
+Balanced difficulty overall
+Super fun Co-Op (I, particuallary, did not have any problem palying it online with my friends)
-Some frustrating sections at chapter 9 and 10

I'd give it a 9.5/10

I like how the game crashed in one of those IGN videos like a week before launch and they were all "Work in progress, folks!".

Watching Ogre 2's Scrim stream, which was breaking a bunch in the lobby, trying to change gametypes and host. Heinz jokingly mentioned that it was like the Invitational tournament warmup, "Uh, you're gonna have to reset your Build."

Max hoberman recently said in one of those ign vids that burial mounds was based off a campaign level that was scrapped... And it was a moon level.

In the latest documentary they say that the intended finale was Master Chief going to earth, rescue Cortana, battle Gravemind (I think) and wrap it up. Also in other ViDocs they said the scrapped a few levels (they mentioned the Ark, which appeared in H3), also Max Hoberman said (on approx) that maybe the had to cut at least half the game due to time restrictions.

Here are some interesting links about it:

'Making Of' Halo 2
Original Halo 2 playthrough with Jason Jones (haven't seen this, but might be interesting)
In case you missed it: Remaking the Legend

Couldn't find the Halo 3 essentials, that's where they mention the thing about the cut out levels, I have it but since I no longer have a 360 I can't watch it :/
Watching the Making of Halo 2 again.

Interesting how this parallels today.

Jason Jones mentioning to always take more than you can manage (See Destiny).
Halo 2 buggy mess before launch. People worried about the quality of the game.

Started at heroic, changed to normal after chapter 3 (except for the missions I've played in co-op only, that were Heoric or Legendary).

You and your co-op partner should run it again all the way through on Legendary, it's great. Just don't use the AR, unless you are clearing out some Flood spores.

Yeah, I definitely want to do that! I dont see myself trying legendary alone after some sections that I've played (at least until I get very experienced in the series), but co-op in Legendary is a lot of fun and can be done if with care! Will probably play through Halo 2 before though! =)

The legendary game endings (except Halo 2) usually have something extra worthwhile to watch.

If you're curious, you could look on YouTube.

Just finished CE on legendary. Pretty happy I've decided to replay every campaign on legendary instead of doing matchmaking.

The amateurs at 343 better have this thing fixed up by the time I finish all the games.

Who am I kidding.
