Halo The Master Chief Collection |OT| Halo Never Died, It Was Just Missing In Action

It's been working pretty ok for me (aside from the part where it was downloading latest playlist updates) and relatively lag free for most of the games. uneven teams still happens though.

Man, finding matches hasn't been my problem, I've usually gotten them within 30-45 seconds.

What is my problem is the unevenness of the teams. I admit I'm not the greatest Halo player in the world. The last time I played was Halo 2 on the OG Xbox so I wasn't anticipating picking it up and dominating, but holy fucking shit it's like every single match has been people like myself against MLG teams. Getting dominated by 30+ points every game gets real old, real fast.

And before I get a "lol you suck, get good" response, isn't the point of matchmaking in general that you not only find a game, but find a game of people who are kinda close to you in your skill group?

I'd say, for myself at least, getting constantly uneven teams and getting demolished is worse than not finding a game. Hell, if it tells me "no matches found" a couple times then I'll go pop in another game or play single player and have fun. but wasting my fucking time with uneven bullshit teams is not even fun.

Whew, mini-rant over, time for some GTAV

give this ip to Respawn. 343 are so fucking incompetent.

Haha, no. I still like my Halo games to have single player campaigns...

Same although my laggy games are in H2A.

H1, H2, and H3 are fine.

Team splitting is pissing me off the most. Nothing worse than getting a game and some team gets split and decides to troll one side.

Certain Affinity should take over. They did a better job remaking 6 halo 2 maps than 343 did with 2 games so far.

343 is full of good people no doubt. But theyre fucking halo up more and more. Can't imagine MS I'd gonna be too pleased when they see their bottom line after all the refunds and loss of potential consoles this holiday

This is pathetic.

I wish I could say you are right, but I know a ton of people who bought Xbox ones just for this. MS in the short term is very happy.

Aren't they just map designers for many popular multiplayer games?

Odd, after the whole downloading matchmaking data thing happened, I've been getting into games every two minutes or so now, with the vast majority of them staying connected till the end!

FYI in halo ce I thought the guns sounded very low but switching to stereo makes it sound a lot better. Maybe just cause I played it in stereo back when it came out?

Remember when Microsoft also thought they could get away with always online?
I woulda been okay with always online. My shit is always connected to live anyways

I mentioned this before in another thread. It sounds like this will take six months of back-and-forth work between QA and devs to fix this. There are too many issues. 343 have to solve matchmaking, performance (60fps across all games even with four-player splistscreen), and campaign/multiplayer glitches, and problems with achievements.

If this was just one game, like say it was just a standalone Halo 2 Anniversary, then yeah, we could expect the game to be fixed soon. But MCC is absolutely not going to be fixed soon. Their latest patch primarily addresses matchmaking. That is a problem for two reasons: 1) There are many issues beyond just matchmaking, and 2) Matchmaking has barely been improved - some are getting better experiences, but others are still having problems. So I am very very glad I didn't buy this game, and I think 343 and Microsoft completely fucked up in releasing this product so early.

Sony had Driveclub and Little Big Planet 3 as their big exclusives this holiday... MS already released Forza Horizon 2 and Sunset Overdrive. Wouldn't it have been better to release MCC in the middle of next year, and position it against Bloodborne and The Order?

This is pretty disappointing all around.

they aren't getting the game to 60fps in splitscreen. It's never going to happen.

They'll get matchmaking up and running solid, fix the achievements and manage the playlists.

Can you explain why? Is there an engineering hurdle that makes 60fps in splitscreen a near impossibility?

Well at least Halo CE's hit detection is corrected. Using the Sniper before the patch, it was really bad. Just played the sniper level and it was perfect. So happy that something got fixed! :)
Glad to read this. It was literally impossible to kill Flood with the sniper, the reticle stayed blue always too.

Are you serious? Xbone can barely run one screen at 60.

Can't use sniper on flood. Couldn't ever. The bullets go straight through. It's by design

It may be obvious to you why splitscreen co-op will never reach 60fps, but it isn't obvious to me. You say MCC can barely run one screen at 60. Okay, whatever. Let's say it can reach 55fps.

Why can't splitscreen also reach 55fps, other than poor optimization? What is the hurdle? And the answer may be obvious, but I don't know it.

The sniper sucking against Flood has nothing to do with hit detection.

In general no, but in many of MCC's modes, the split-screen performance is starting pretty low. You'd have to make some very impressive performance improvements to bring it all up to a reasonably consistent 60fps.

Okay, honestly. Is there anything I can do with this?

Can I try switching router settings or something?

I've never been able to get a single fucking game.

The Xbox One isn't capable of running more than one screen at 60fps. It's just not powerful enough.

Technical limitations are the problem. I really don't know what you want me to tell you here.

Please don't hurt me. Looks like I may not understand what goes on under the hood for splitscreen to work, in general, but:

In splitscreen, yes there are more screens, but each screen proportionally takes a smaller amount of space. So I was just assuming that if you can get single player to work at 60fps, then you should be able to also get splitscreen to work at 60fps because you have each player's screen being scaled down proportionately. So single player + splitscreen should both be capable of producing 60fps, without any additional horsepower needed. Meaning I was assuming that even if the single player 60fps campaign is squeezing out 100% of the XB1's power, then the game should still be able to pull off splitscreen 60fps.

That's where my confusion came from, because of the assumptions I described above.
