Halo The Master Chief Collection |OT| Halo Never Died, It Was Just Missing In Action

I am talking to support about whether or not there would be compensation in regards to people such as me activating their xbox live gold cards. He said there are no compensation plans for THAT.

However, there are tentative plans setup for next week and he described it as 'compensation for Halo: MCC matchmaking issues'

So, take it with a grain of salt? I have seen more people state the same thing now.

No. Just like you wouldn't if you played on a friend's game.

Thanks, good to know.

But again if you're worried about that, why are you returning the game? I just don't get it. Patience, people.

Some combination of market incentives and cosmic justice. We paid $60 for an objectively broken game. I can re-download the game later, but until the game functions as advertised, they don't get my money.

Before yesterday's patch, we could still reasonably believe the major problems could be solved with one patch and that the full promise of MCC was within reach. More than a week after launch, with 343 working 24/7 to produce a 1.4 GB patch, things are mostly the same. If it were an easy fix, it would have come already. The mythical "MCC is working" date now seems far enough away that getting a refund is reasonable.

As lowly consumers, the only method we have for influencing what a company produces is our decision to buy or not buy their product.

No way. If anyone thought that, they haven't been playing games for the last 10 years.

However, I was getting into games just fine last night. Anecdotal, but true.

How do you not publicly respond to anything, even just acknowledging the ongoing problems after releasing the patch yesterday night?

I just don't understand how a company under Microsoft literally has all of its PR go silent.

A little heads up saying we're continuing to work on it would be greatly appreciated.

What a mess...

The last Halo post from Frankie was 11/19:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=139627432&postcount=132

I'm assuming they knew they still weren't confident everything would be stable with the 11/20 patch. They DID say they were still hard at work with other fixes, in the 11/20 patch notes. I'm not sure how many reports you want them to give.

Bravo said on twitter they are very aware and will update us when they can.

He said that today, but theyve also said that every day since this game came out.

Its 11am over there. Patch has been in the wild for over 12 hours. They know its not working. How they havent addressed the community with why the fixes they said would work, arent, is beyond me.

I dont get how they can even put those things in patch notes and then just not deliver them in the patch

Not as easy as just flipping a switch. I may not be happy with how this has went down, but the fixes are going to take time, and all I can do at this point is be patient. Consumer risk is a part of the gaming industry now.

Here was their chance to fix it and they didn't. Thats some horseshit.
They actually sort of tried to fix it; the CE campaign netcode is different in MCC than in CEA. They made a few things client-side, like looking, which eliminates input lag on those actions. The problem is that they didn't do anything to the underlying functionality to compensate for the changed feedback. So in motion you get issues where, for instance, the place you're actually aiming is lagging behind where it looks like you're aiming.

It "feels more responsive" than the 360 version, but in accomplishing that it introduced some huge problems.

I don't want to accept it. I was bummed with Destiny, and I'm bummed with MCC. I've been burned by preordering before this. I've come to expect this kind of thing, but that doesn't mean I am accepting it, not by a long shot. I'm owning up to the reality that it's now a consumer risk to purchase this kind of entertainment product on merely good faith in the developer.

I took the risk and received a product that needed major work to fix its coding. I bought into the idea of what was being sold with faith that it would be what they advertised. Expectation of the possibility that I am buying an incomplete or broken product does not equate acceptance that this is where the industry is.

As a result of this situation, my purchasing habits have been greatly influenced for the betterment of the industry. If we feel burned, if we feel the risk wasn't worth the cost, our buying habits should change, and thus change how products are developed. If I were to preorder Halo 5 and buy it day one, then it shows that I've learned nothing.

if it was fixable. I don't know netcode, do you? If they could have, they probably would have for CEA. Halo CE never had Xbox Live let alone online co-op so it was brand new.

5v3 2 games in a row.

Fuck off 343.

what I don't get is seeing a lobby filling up quickly and once it hits 8/10 it just caps and starts. Why? Why not wait for 10/10?

I don't remember Halo 3 games ever just randomly starting without a full lobby unless there were seriously XBL problems and it tried for a long time.

Digital refund processed. They were very helpful and it was super quick. I hated to do it. Paying full price for a game that is not working 10 days after launch is too much to ask. The game will be discounted soon, even if I have to go back to physical. At $40 bucks I would have kept. At $60, I have to have something that works at least most of the time.

In my region they've moved Halo MCC to the home page of Xbox One. It's a big advert to buy it digitally and experience the multiplayer.

Halo CE Anniversary was on an outsourced budget and fixing the netcode was not part of it. Sad truth.

Been searching for twenty minutes and not a single match. I can't believe they shipped a game this broken, and I can't believe I was dumb enough to pay full price for it.

I've had nothing but the utmost respect for 343, but this is appallingly disappointing. I am ashamed that this level of inadequacy is being associated with Halo.

Bravo seems to be working on some kind of update for us.

Id like to just know when a real patch is coming

1800-4MY-XBOX

Call it, get to a rep via the prompts, ask for refund.
When I did it there was no hassle. Guy checked, said I was eligible for a refund, spent 5 minutes listening him try to explain how they are working on the game while he processed it, 2 days later the refund posted to my credit card.

I mentioned this in another post but the guy who helped me told me that people are eligible for one digital refund every calendar year. I pressed him for more info since I didn't know that was the policy. Maybe he slipped but he wouldn't say anymore or answer my questions.

Do they just remove the license or whatever from your xbox live account so you can buy it again later? I do plan on buying it again when everything is fixed if I do a return now

That's good news! I really hope GameStop will start taking back physical discs! I know they won't... But maybe they'll pressure MS with enough requests.

Yeah, my friend got refunded by Tesco UK physical copy today. I hear Best Buy US are still holding out.

Only had time for a quick session but both the Big Team Battle games I tried worked pretty well. Just wish there was more Halo 1 in rotation.

I want a refund, but then I lose out on H5 beta access.. lol.

All the previous AAA betas which ran recently went open beta over the weekend, so no purchase required. Halo may follow same format, as they want as many people as possible to stress test.

What I find strange is that I was able to play pretty well after the patch, except for the bunch of freezes before and after matches and the "downloading new data" issue. Today however I just could not find any match at my lunch time... Going home from work now and will try this again. Not having much faith though.

But I ask myself why it just got worse alone... I havent changed anything. This game issues are so so weird.

Usually the stress test open beta weekends come much closer to release.

I'm almost wondering if the patch was only part of the solution. Iirc didn't they mention in one of the comments or updates that they were working on the servers but it also required something on the client side? I'm curious if this is a deal where the 1.4GB patch lays the groundwork on the client side, then as they get the servers updated things start to improve.

I get that overall the game is unacceptably broken, but it also seems like too many people are getting into matches that have even teams to say that the patch did nothing or made it worse.

That's my guess as to what's going on. Then again, I'm also talking out of my ass here.

Wow.

Wow.

Just got into an H2A game and it was the unbelievably laggy. Teleporting everywhere, rubber banding, absolutely unplayable. We all got kicked to the menu when I just happened to unlock the MVP achievement (???) and now have the "Connection Failed" popup superimposed upon all of the other UI elements.

Incredible stuff here.
