Yep, that update was the least encouraging thing possible. Sounds like we are weeks or months away from a solution, and who knows if they won't just throw their hand up and say "good enough, time to focus on halo 5" before that. I know so many people who bought an Xbone just for this and it could not possibly have made a worse first impression.

So this game will continue to be borked until at least late next week? Great to know :(
Hopefully you keep getting in games then. Do you play solo? I usually find even teams going in solo, but when I play with friends, it always puts us on different uneven teams.

Yah the game is fucked for parties but I tend to play MM alone.

In a situation like this why can't Microsoft do some hotfixes which don't take days in cert to get released, it's more damaging then anything right now.

Hell, you can push an update through steam in 10 minutes most of the time.

It's like Microsoft themselves do not care for the quality of this collection and one of their biggest brands in gaming.

I think it feels more like 343i doesn't know exactly how to fix it.

I don't think they know what's wrong or they do but don't know how to fix it.

Pro-Tip for those still having matchmaking issues!

1) Go to store
2) Locate Xbox One game shelf
3) Find "Far Cry 4"
4) Pick Up Far Cry 4
5) Go to register
6) Buy Far Cry 4
7) Go home
8) Eject Halo: Master Chief Collection from Xbox One disc-drive
9) Insert Far Cry 4
10) Play Far Cry 4
11) Take Halo: Master Chief Collection and place the disc into your toilet bowl
12) Flush

Hope this helps some of you guys and girls still having problems!
Actually thinking about doing this right now. Might just get a refund on MCC and download FC4. Pick up MCC when it's at a discount later down the road and by then hope that they have this whole thing patched up.

I have FC4 and Dragon Age loaded up as well, just haven't gotten into them yet. The pacing of Halo matchmaking meets my schedule at this time, and that is my biggest frustration if I had to pick anything.

That's what I did today! Minus flushing the MCC.

They really just need to have MS issue a formal statement granting anyone who bought a disk or digital a voucher to a full refund. This is bullshit and is bigger than fixes now. Those who want to wait it out... Cool! Those who want a full refund, regardless of purchase preference, deserve it now.

What's the bet on next time we hear from frank?

If we even do for a couple weeks.
Only this.

Probably soon now that I've read this terrible update. I bet we get a patch before Black Friday.
I hope soon, just doesn't make me feel good that it was total radio silence all day. Then they send this out... It's practically saying if it doesn't work for you, sorry you're SOL til mid week at the earliest.

Looking for MM games by myself is hit or miss, however trying to search with a friend rarely ever works. It usually takes a dozen tries just to get into the same lobby. If by some miracle we manage to make it into a match we're almost always on different teams. Co-op campaign isn't much better, lots of lag and disconnects. I pretty much have to play by myself which isn't that fun for me.

Oh well, might as well pick up GTAV and play that until 343 gets their shit together.

I'm going to pick this up next week because I'm nuts. But I will be playing the campaigns from 1 to 4 first before I touch MP. Are there still any bugs in SP?

So I'm finally getting into some matches now and then, but what the hell is with people quitting? Really frustrating to wait so damn long, finally get a match and then half the other team quits as soon as one flag is capped.

People could be getting booted you never know.

It sounds like they have no idea of whats wrong. At this point it would probably be easier just to remake the game than to fix everything that's broken,
A few months from now we are going to be extremely pissed off or are going to be laughing at how this game was once broken
Why would we be angry? It is just a game after all.

This right here is so amazing:

For now, you will continue to see uneven match-ups and larger than normal team sizes in matchmaking. This is a temporary situation that is caused by the fact that we are allowing more players than normal into a matchmaking session in order to improve overall matching times. We realize this is not ideal, and we will reset those parameters to their expected behavior as soon as our matchmaking improves to a level where players are consistently getting into matches in shorter time frames.

If anyone had any doubt that this turd was pushed out the door as just a desperate attempt to win November this pretty much seals it up.

Yeah remember when we were all cracking up about BF4 and remember how crazy those early days were.

Oh wait

They might as well rebuild the entire matchmaking from scratch. They might have to. Something is seriously screwed up at the core of it all. Why were they even saying that matchmaking would be better than ever for this game? It makes no sense.

Pull the game and re-release this mess in march, it needs to bake for longer.

They really need to do something big if this isn't fixed very soon. Another week is far, far too long to wait for any additional improvement.

It's crazy it's only been ten days from launch and yet feels like it's been months. Even if they fix it, the urge and hype is gone. It's crazy. The casual crowd all but evaporated and I don't know if they'll even come back.

Ironic considering how badly they want the "casual" crowd to come for Halo 5.

As anti-MS as I've been since their initial Xbox One reveal, I was seriously considering grabbing a One on Black Friday just for MCC and classic Halo goodness. Scratch that off...

It's absolutely amazing how many turds are getting shoved out for the holidays with no regard for the actual consumer. Just can't miss those holiday sales... send games to die. Marketing budget already in motion..

Get into a game, triple teamed with Shottys, Rockets and Snipers, all camping, all guarding each other, lagged thirty feet forward towards us whenever shot at.

I'm done.

It time now that Phil Spencer needs to get involved and say something. As the head of the Xbox Division and this being the biggest release of the year for the Xbox One, I think we need to hear from Phil and what he plans to do to assist in resolving the issues. When something this big goes this bad, the head of the division needs to speak up.

I like Frankie and all and no disrespect to him, but we need to hear from someone way higher up than him or Dan. I also think that the person in charge of this collection needs to have some form of disciplinary action and or termination. I never wish this on anyone as I have had many close friends lose their jobs for no fault of there own, but when you are in charge of bringing something to market this big and it goes this bad, there needs to be some accountability somewhere. Again, I am not saying someone should be fired, but in any other profession when something goes this bad and customers are requesting refunds, something needs to happen.

Bottom Line is that Phil as the head of the Division needs to speak up and pull his weight to resolve the issues. If that means he needs to bring in outside help at a premium price then that is what he needs to do.

I feel really bad for the chaps who pick up the game next week without really knowing what's going on. I can imagine there's going to be quite a decent amount of people doing so.

I got one good laugh from this today.

My mother asks me stuff about gaming that her co-worker nurses have about gifts for their kids. So she asked about Black Friday and if it was a good idea for some of the moms to buy Xboxes and "some kind of chef collection". I had to tell her that, no, "they probably shouldn't buy that chef collection right now."

"Is it a cooking game? They said it had guns."
"No, it's actually Chief and it's called 'Halo', but answering your exact question was more fun."
"What about some little aliens Playstation game?"
"The one with the stuffed toy and the anthropomorphic sock on the cover? Yeah, that's probably better for kids. The one you can find bundled with Grand Theft Auto some places *sad ironic sigh*."

But isn't United Front Games the ones who created the Unified UI? So, wouldn't this be their fuck up if it is indeed bugs in the UI that is causing issues with the Matchmaking? If 343i are the ones doing the actual patches, they are probably having to go through a ton of code trying to isolate what UFG fucked up.

Potentially the most frustrating thing about this to me is that people, and especially 343 are constantly talking about those statistical improvements, as if to legitimize their own work or mislead people into thinking the situation is better than before. It isn't! It hasn't improved one bit since launch, and matchmaking is far from the game's only problem. It's an absolute mess in both Single and Multiplayer modes, whether offline or online. I can't believe the press is letting them get away with this much. It infuriates me.

I have no idea why 343 is so surprised about this mess. What did they expect to happen from an outsourced game? The logistics of coordinating 7 studios and implementing code into one product is terrifying. Halo needs to be treated with care and love. Develop everything in house, maybe let someone else do maps but that's it.

Yep. They were too ambitious and there was always going to be problems with that many people working on it.

True, but there is always someone that ultimately is responsible for the game itself, regardless of how many different companies worked on it. Someone had to say "this is good to go". I believe Dan was the director of the game and as such it might fall on him that this is so bad. I am not really sure based on the amount of people on who ultimately was in charge of creating this project and was the "go to" person on stuff, but in the end, the consumer has a product that is not functioning as intended and like any other profession some is ultimately accountable for this.

This is the same studio trying to shove the things Halo players want the least in Halo like ADS and pretending its te same as zoom. They are just totally lost. I honestly think Phil needs to disband that group. They have no grasp on this franchise, they cant even get a decent artist for their comics. Put Statin in charge and go get Marty. There is still time to save Halo 5.

Anecdotally, it has been better for me.

I wish I could say you are right, but I know a ton of people who bought Xbox ones just for this. MS in the short term is very happy.

While MS may be happy about the Xbox One hardware sales that they got right now because of Halo: MCC, it's going to be hurting them & the franchise a lot in the future due to all of the constant problems that this collection has. Especially if all of these issues aren't fixed by Black Friday.
