Very tempting
Whoo finally got a play a match after 10 minutes.
Went 6-8 but that was mostly because it was a map I didn't know, and I didn't change the control scheme. Never goes well when you can't press the right buttons.
Still was fun.
I returned my copy to BBY.
Sort of wish I traded it though. Because it feels so weird not having a box.
Digital is cool, so I will probably get it again some time for the physical.

It's a built in promotion they're running right now. Go to their trade in online system and it shows it for a list of popular games (it'll apply to others, too).
I went in store, scanned it for $28 and in the end the promotion bumped it to $42. Best Buy runs promotions like that pretty often.

I can get £32 cash and I only paid 40 for this so I'm rather tempted too, a shame as what coop I could play with my cousin was fun.
halo 2 has segments where the game will desync completely and even a checkpoint restart doesn't fix it.

None of them except maybe Frankie actually likes Halo. All they have ever done is try to change it. Shit, they are even sidelining Chief in Halo 5.
Like how Chief was sidelined in Halo 2? That was a real shame, almost ruined the franchise. It's not like the Arbiter turned out to be the best character in the series.

Well, it took 35 minutes of back and forth with the CSR to get a refund but...I got my refund.
People who are also trying, just keep calm, stick to your guns, and explain the situation and just reiterate the problems with the game and how others have gotten the refund.
The CSR I chatted with claimed that they had to change their policy because people had been abusing their "Halo refund system" and was thus very hesitant to refund me at first.
EDIT: He gave me all Space points credits when I only used $3.24 in space points and the remaining $56.75 was on my credit card in real people money. Whatever.
EDIT 2: He fixed it after I explained that I split my purchase.

So what's the process for playing couch coop in Halo 2?
I was using a playlist and found a terminal and it signed us out causing us to lose level progress.
I can continue but it starts us at the start of the level (40 mins wasted).
If I switch to normal campaign mode it shows zero progress through Halo 2. We were on Outskirts.
So does the playlist not track progress? Playlists are just broke?
And if I select "Missions" from campaigns it will not let me select the first two levels of the game. They are there but I cant move left from Cairo Station.
Also realized that there is no way to select skulls unless you choose the missions from missions menus. That's dumb.

Yeah, it is mostly a luck thing. I was only able to get into three matches last night after the patch. Today, I got a lot of games quickly. That was, until my luck ran out.
unlocking H5 beta early is in no way valid compensation since the majority of us who bought MCC did so to play actual Halo...

If I remember correctly it's been a long time since I co-oped halo 2 you cannot play the first mission and the armory in co-op it starts you out on Cairo station

What makes this worse is that I'm more sad that the game may turn out like halo 4 and drop significantly in users when this actually gets fixed, rightfully so. It will just be another coaster :/
This is definitely going to happen. Most people aren't that dedicated and have already given up. I might be one of them, I haven't put it in since I picked up GTAV. A massive percentage of the userbase is probably already lost and it will only go down over time. It's a damn shame.
Can we get a petition for a veto system once everything is worked out?
I feel like I've seen maybe 8 maps in H2 Classic. And worse, getting Team Slayer or Team BRs on the same map as two of the 3 voting options.
Edit: Oh, it's because there's only 13 maps in that playlist to begin with. Has been like that since release, or is it a "We're trying to make everything work" thing?

So I don't even have the game, but I played splitscreen multiplayer online with a friend and it worked just fine. Played some Halo 2 and Halo 3 Classic, and then switched onto Big Team Battle. Tons of fun reliving old memories! It stinks that so many people are having problems though.

Can we mention something positive? Halo CE online is amazing. I've played on a PC but it's a mixed bag since there's no hardware standardization. Plus, people seem to genuinely suck at it by and large. Makes me feel awesome when I'm pwning CE noobs that would probably smoke me in Halo 3. Nothing like some good old fashioned CE pistol kills when most users seem to think the AR is a better weapon.

The good news is at least this patch lets MM tell you what's going on. If you're not seeing "players found" in the bottom left of your screen after a minute, you know to back out and try again. Still sucks that it's broken though.

Played for awhile, was able to find games easily, everything went well... But after like 2 hours I couldn't find a game but I didn't try for very long. I am satisfied for the night, hopefully they continue to improve it.

My man. My intro to Halo multiplayer was H2. Like I said in my other post, I had played CE online on a PC, but playing on a console with this kind of resolution... It's incredible.

All these mentions of Halo CE being awesome make me want to hop into matchmaking. But at the same time, I'm juggling three new games, including the MCC, and I need to gain levels in Advanced Warfare.
Being a poor, home-bodied college student is tough.
I would put halo to the side for now until it gets fixed completely, it isn't going anywhere haha

I wish there was some way I could agree more. I thought I'd be off put by the health mechanic in this day and age, but not even close. It's probably my favorite online game of the collection.

I played halo 3 right near the end of last gt and loved it, bought a ps4 last year, then when this was slated close to sunset overdrive I knew it was time to really dive in to halo and get myself an xbone.
I've not bought the game yet due to all these problems and as time goes on I'm less and less likely to bother now, I think there will be others like me, the loss of this sale becomes even more problematic as it spoils any chance of then selling me the next halo game.
All this reminds me of when sony gave the socom franchise to slant six and they fucked it completely, online multiplayer was broken for six months in the EU and joining games was taking up to half an hour at release, no one beyond die hard socom fans ever played it again and from that point on the franchise was doomed.
I am sure this won't kill something as big as halo but it sure does leave a rotten taste and make me less likely to bother with the game in the future.

When this game is working properly, it will be amazing. Even in this slightly broken state, I'm having an increasingly fun time. Matches are connecting faster, teams seem to balance better every so often. And yes, there's just something special about Halo CE. I also can't believe how good Halo 3 looks at 1080p. I think that's the one game in this package that has surprised me the most. And not just visually, it's also still an incredibly fun game.

Had a 5vs4 game yesterday in our 'favor', it was 1 flag CTF on Stonetown. And man, it seems like the MM is just throwing people together at random (I'd reckon there hasn't been enough time for skill gaps to be measured)
Nothing fun about effectively playing vs a well coordinated and most likely premade team when yours has absolutely no idea.
