That is just Halo 3 in comparison to the other variants. After playing them all, I feel like your lifespan is far more in jeopardy.

I just played about 3 rounds of halo 2 in a row.. What an incredible game. When they get this working I think i will be playing lots and lots of it.

As others have already answered - seems to be a glitch. Had the same just now on the final level of Halo CE. Ridiculous. I have no idea how that got past QA.
The game has to get better at 4v4. That is the meat of the playlist and of Halo in general imo. It's too bad it's not 100% working, because as you said when you get into a good game all the pain of waiting definitely takes a backseat.
Such is life on XBL.
I mean, I can get mad at not playing well in a game. With the game this broken, I'm very surprised how competitive and easily people quit.

Holy crap those cutscenes... they are absolutely, utterly, unbelievably out of this world.
Something seems off about the graphics of the game though - everything feels like a 4:3 picture stretched out to 1920 x 1080. It might just be the font being wider, or maybe the FOV is different to Halo CR - it's really odd. (And no, I know the graphics are scaled horizontally, I don't mean that feature).

It's always been like that though. I remember playing H2 back in the day and people would quit when getting beat on. Or they would standby.
5v5 is one of the things they added to attempt to make it work better. The uneven teams is still an issue though.
That Halo 2 was always working though!

Anyone else feel like they're significantly worse at Halo on XBO compared to Halo on 360?
I struggle with the new analog sticks, they have zero resistance and I find it difficult to keep my reticule on targets, even on low sensitivities.

People quitting out of games is a lot of why people embraced Call of Duty 4 when it came out. Dudes getting stomped quit out? No problem, here's some more people to inhereit their score and get stomped too.
So bummed about this whole situation. I'm sitting here, really wanting to buy this game and enjoy whole series for the first time, as I never get to play H2. Problem is, I'm too short of money to buy broken product, with no guarantee, that it will work in foreseeable future

As others have said that is a glitch.
What I think is very very amusing is that the chain of events you described more or less occurs in co-op, and that is not a glitch. Apparently none of the Halos save checkpoints during co-op. I asked around and was told it's always been like that in Halo.
Am I the first person in one decade to scratch my head, and say Why? It is baffling that 6 different Halo games have been designed like this and no one batted an eye lash.
I get it, but it doesn't feel right. I was basically commenting that 4v4 should work right 99% of the time for the MP to be considered working for me. 4v4 is basically Halo MP in a nutshell.
Yeah, those were simpler times almost a golden age for Halo.
Played for the first time since the patch tonight and we got 3 games in a row, Halo is saved! Well, after the third game we didn't find a game for an hour and a half. And the third game was Team Slayer on Snowbound and it had a few issues. Namely...

I love the blur cutscenes to pieces, but if I had to chose, I much prefer the Bungie in-engine ones. They are better paced and don't feel as rushed as the Blur ones do, despite looking amazing.

You can say "Xbox, Record That!" or double tap the Guide button and then press X to save a 30 second clip. Or you can snap GameDVR and record the last 1 - 5 minutes of gameplay.

Tried for about 10 mins earlier...just searching, searching..
Also you can use the theater to set up the POV and camera angles then record that with the Game DVR. Built in Halo theater gives you some more production options. I always loved watching back matches where I performed well, you can really appreciate the effects in slow motion.
Oh yeah, I definitely agree it should be 4v4. I get into 4v4 matches often enough now that I get a taste of the glory though.
Yes. The Xbox One controller has been difficult for me to adapt to but I'm getting there. Those thumbsticks are just inferior to the 360 gamepad.

Made a few last attempts at getting some matches in and failed everytime.
Called the Microsoft Store, explained everything that's been going on, and asked if I could return it for something else? They said I could, so huge props to the great employees at my local MS who let me exchange MCC for Dragon Age.
I'll return to Halo when 5 comes out, but not until I know it works. Until then I can just fire up Reach if I get the Halo itch.

It isn't nearly as broken as it was/some make it out to be. Matchmaking is still a little rough but you can get a game in two or three minutes.

Yes, multiple times, nothing works.
My experience has been wildly different from yours in this case. I can rarely get into games, and the overall experience is quite broken even when I do. Single player is a little better, but still feels unfinished and commits the crime of messing up the user's saves, achievements, and even skips levels. It's pretty much as broken as it gets for a released product.

It's easily as broken as it's made out to be for me. Again, I'm STILL yet to play a single matchmaker multiplayer game. I've had this game for nearly 2 weeks now. If that's not "as broken as it's made out to be" then please enlighten me on what is.
Just...no. Sometimes it is like this and works fine (relatively anyway, I can play). Other times I'll just keep resetting it for literally hours on different playlists and it still fails to load a single match.

There has to be something going wrong on your end then, because I find it extremely hard to believe that the update didn't improve things for you in the slightest if your connection is completely fine.
I've been sitting at a players found screen for 3 minutes as I type this. The game is just as broken as people make it out to be. Maybe you just havent played enough to realize. I thought the same thing when I had only played for a bit but as I played more the brokenness of it became more apparent.
So there's something wrong on the end of the hundreds of people who still can't find a game easily?

Night of the update, I could play but had to reset the game after a few matches.
Following day, nothing.
Yesterday, nothing.
I have open nat, I use everything else online without a worry, I play other xbox games online, Halo MCC is the only rotten apple in the bunch.
I just don't understand how that's happening, the update improved matchmaking dramatically for me. I know it's still not perfect, but it's confusing how some people have seen huge improvements, yet others are left in the same position.

So everyone having serious issues are making it up? Happy for you that you get into a game every 2-3 minutes, but I don't believe that's true for the majority of users. Things that are broken no matter how much you play and how little time you wait to get into a game.
-Party system is fucked in so many ways
-Uneven teams
-Saves not registering for the campaign
-Skipping levels in the campaign
-UI issues all over the damn place
-Disconnects
-Laggy games
If that's not broken then I don't know what is. Spending 60 dollars on this game is a joke right now, you're better off waiting until it's fixed.

That sucks, sorry that's all there is to do unless you want to reset your router or something as a hail mary.
The update marginally improved performance but there are still times when MM simply does not work.
The update sadly didn't improve things at all for me. In fact, I managed to play more games before the update. I don't think the patch necessarily made it worse, I probably just have worse luck. Whenever I'm able to get games, it's usually in bursts. Once it stops working (usually after one or two matches) I can count on it being entirely broken for a little while.

It's possible that for the hour I tried on those days were just bad hours in the day and my luck was low, but it should not take me over an hour to find a connection / players.
I have not tried since then, no point until another content update is out.
