I've only heard of that bug happening in Halo 2. Guess it has something to do with the two graphic engines working at the same time.

It's a bug in Halo 4 as well. Happened to me on Composer after the meeting with Doctor Tillson cutscene.

You can't restart the graphics engine in Halo 4, so if you get the black screen bug you have to restart the game. That said, checkpoints aren't bugged in Halo 4 so you won't loose much progress.

On matchmaking front, I just tried for 15 minutes in UK but found no players. What a mess.

Cross posting but eh. Is literally every part of this stupid game broken? This has really just pissed me off. Okay matchmaking isn't working due to some unforeseen issues. But it's the damn campaign

My legendary progress

Why is there a gap? I played the playlist from start to finish. Every level on legendary.

Oh I know why. The game thinks I played co-op

What a disaster. Now I have to play this shit again (and probably Shutdown too now that I notice it is only marked off as heroic). egh
Guess that explains why I got the co-op achievements.

Halo 4 checkpoint bugs do exist. I was well into the first level where you fight prometheans, saved and quit. Next time I start up the game, I'm taken to the check point where you encounter two hunters in the previous level -_-

That's next-gen saving.

The game knows which parts you enjoyed the most, based on your overall score, and lets you play this part again.

How are the terminals holding up now? The ones that take you to Halo Channel, I mean. They were pretty much killswitches before, and if they aren't any more I may head back in to Collect Them All.

Found one last night in CE (terminal 3 on Truth and Reconciliation). Warped me right to the Halo Channel and then I pressed B twice to go back and it worked flawlessly. Even paused the game for me.

I posted my same experience with the Halo 4 campaign yesterday. I am on the Reclaimer level and I've thrown my hands up in frustration. I played through Forerunner on Legendary three times, twice before then reading on the internet why my status was not showing, and Infinity twice. I am not going through Reclaimer on Legendary twice. It is my least favorite level in the entire game. As such, I've simply given up on the game until this issue is fixed. It's simply absurd that this bug is in the game. Then again, we can say that about pretty much every issue we've encountered in this collection thus far.

The issues with matchmaking are one thing, but reading about all the single player issues, checkpoint progress being lost, achievements not popping, the game randomly tracking progress for co-op vs single player, terminals not loading, Halo channel freeezing, etc. The myriad of issues people have mentioned in this thread that have nothing to do with multiplayer is absolutely staggering. What in the actual fuck could have gone on behind the scenes for this to all get through?

I'm surprised at all the weird bugs in single player. Halo 2 still doesn't save progress and the icon acknowledging completion of specific missions seems to suddenly disappear making it seem as if you haven't played those missions at all. Weird.

People not doing their job.

Or simply an editor that wanted absolutely to have Halo for Christmas.
We are all blaming 343i for that but I am sure Microsoft pushed the studio(s) to have the game in time for Christmas and a so huge compilation of games and partnerships must not be so easy to handle. I hope now they will learn the lesson for next time and I speak to all the devs of the recent games sometimes it’s simply better delay the release date.

Meanwhile I really hope they will suceed to fix the game before the beta of H5G and Christmas.

That's all conjecture and guessing. Who know which side is most to blame, the developer or the publisher. All I know is they fucked up big time with this one.

I did the entire saga and got them all - they never locked up on me. Sometimes they would refuse to play though, and just kick me back to the game. But mostly they played. That's been over the past two weeks.

In all media, only true fans who consume every book, film, game, or pog collection deserve to know what's going on.
Tried to resume H2:A where I left it last time and got a black screen instead. Next time I'll have to restart the whole mission...

I have had this happen as well. Audio not video.

Better question: How did this shit get by the gaming media during review time? I'm so fucking tired of how this game got such a free pass.

Everyone who has the game in their games played history should have the same type of compensation - not just the digital customers. Why should digital customers get the compensation and not disc owners too?
How do they know you didn't just rent it/borrow it from a friend without it actually being in your purchase/download history?

Someone above mentioned that if you put the game in to classic mode and back again it should fix it, so try that if it happens again.

Could go by some date/time metrics. Like check the difference between the first time they entered MCC and the last time they entered it. So if someone's differential between when they first jumped in and last jumped in is, like, 14 days, that would be enough to say they own the game.

Un-fucking-believable.

I'm not happy with how things have panned out so far, but at the very worst I would take your mother out for a nice seafood dinner and never call her again.

I have a feeling reviewers, who remember, only had access to the single player content up until late, weren't quite achievement hunting or rolling through completely playlists. If they did would they even notice if a level got skipped or something along those lines? Also, who's to say that 15 or 20GB day one patch didn't break some single player shit along the way. It's just a big fat mess, and an example of how not to do QA and launch a game.

try changing your region under system settings, to Canada. Then back. Then hit "Restart" console. This fixed my Halo 3 problem.

*head explodes*

HOW, 343!?!?!?!?!

I never had the issue with the Terminals, at least in Halo 1.

There was a 343 developer in a H2A rumble lobby I was in last night. They had a 343 name plate. The funny thing was there was also a guy in there who changed his XBL gamer tag to "Wow 343 U suck" and several people with 343 clan tags with similar sayings. Hilarious.

Tried for the first time today with the newest patch. Players were found quickly. Things were looking up (other than it being 5v4) then, boom, game freezes. All of my friends have moved on. I didn't want to go back to COD, but it seems so tempting right now. I wonder what the window is like on returning this...

More pathetic than funny.

I've been playing the H2A FFA playlist a lot to avoid unfair teams. It's been pretty fun thus far.

Thanks for the replies. I had like a roulette of bonkers things happen, playing through them in the days after the release. Halo Channel music playing over the videos, on the off-chance that they played at all. Halo Channel stuck on load screen, and the game having crashed when backing out to it. 2 and 4 were probably the worst, though. I just gave up on seeing them at all after a while in 2. In 4 I could usually just hit the home button and navigate back into the game when nothing was happening.

Anyhoo!! By the sound of your posts they're mostly sorted now. I'll prolly head back in for another pass.

The onus is on Microsoft or 343 to come up with a fair solution. Maybe have a receipt program. If you have your receipt and you purchased the disc, scan it and send it to customer service so that you can participate in the compensation being provided to digital customers. That's if any sort of compensation is taking place.

This game is messed. Every day there are new stories of annoying glitches in single player. And yet all of 343's efforts are still singularly focused on matchmaking. Like someone said, Is every corner of this game broken?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The way this game is constantly acting up in *some* little random way, it just seems like a fundamentally rickety framework, and it honestly doesn't seem likely that it'll all get completely resolved.

It reminds me of 360 backwards compatibility with the Xbox, in that I think they'll kinda hammer away on it until it's reached a point where people aren't yelling about it any more. Then we'll just sail into H5 and *hopefully* put it all behind us.

It just sucks on an otherwise phenomenal collection of games. The increasingly-small framerate and resolution issues would also seem pretty insignificant, ultimately, if it all just worked.

Have there been any updates besides the "more updates coming soon" update? 343's been quite since just before Thanksgiving. I'm not sure if I should take that as a positive or a negative.

The glass half full side of me wants to say they're working and getting close to something big.

If by going by the last two weeks, expect the patch tomorrow evening.

*Shrug*

I know i've said this before and I don't mean to be a broken record about it but I really hope they don't pull another "release a patch at 6pm eastern time" again. Releasing a patch during peak hours just seems like a recipe for trouble since servers will get hammered at once and/or people will be running with different versions.

I'm finally going to open my new Xbox one and MCC in a few weeks and I'm really excited.

However, I watched some twitch streams of this game and something is really bothering me...

WHY ARE THE MENUS SO UGLY!?

It just looks really amateur with the heavy gradients and glossy effects.

It's almost PlayStation All-Stars levels of bad. Okay maybe not THAT bad
