Worst thing is, I really do not think there are individuals that worked on this game that are to blame. I'm pretty sure they're feeling pretty fucking depressed that things turned out this way. There are few people who want to publish a shitty product from their own free will.

These issues are most probably due to time constraints and shitty management. One can only wonder how huge the pressure was for these individual studios from Microsoft's end.

Looks like the Halo 5 beta may be going up soon. It has a page in the store now if you click to it in the extras menu. 10.27 GB

Oh there are people to blame. Everyone who worked QA on the game is to blame. Those in charge who went ahead and released a broken piece of shit instead of the game are to blame. I will never ever believe anyone who says that they did not catch these problems before it was in the wild. There are things with the game that aren't even multiplayer related that are just broken. You can't tell me that they played it and did not catch that the save system in the game is completely broken for example. You can't tell me they played Halo 4 and didn't catch the untracked build error as another example. There is simply no way you could avoid those with hundreds if not thousands of hours of QA testing. These are just 2 examples of the ungodly amount of bugs and broken shit.

Their response to it has been shit to be honest also. They've released how many patches now and it's barely improved just the online for some? Hell I've seen a lot of people saying the last patch has actually made it worse for them. At this point it's flat out incompetence on display here.

Realistically, they could be or already have worked on H2A DLC maps. This stuff gets done well ahead of video game launches. I'm sure they were counting on DLC promos but I have a feeling that plan has now backfired.

EA took a risk with still selling the damn BF4 premium crap, even after all their fiascos too.

I doubt DLC was ever part of their plan, they are going to focus on Halo 5. I mean they could have done a Midship remake for MCC but they chose to save that for Halo 5 instead. Once they placate the audience and sweep the mess that is MCC under the rug most people won't care as long as the Halo 5 launch is smooth.

343 seriously needs to do a major relaunch/rehab campaign once MCC is fixed.

i'm also squarely in the camp that doesn't want to hear squat about Halo 5 until MCC is fixed

Completely agree. Not sure what thy best way to get the message "this doesn't suck anymore" acrosss but it needs to happen. Maybe a free week of game.

I think a 1-2 punch of more H2A maps plus have free access to MCC for a week for gold members would be a good combo to get people interested in the game again.

Seriously, I want more H2A maps. H2A's multiplayer is fucking godlike.

Matches load extremely fast for me now. Less than a minute. Patch worked wonders :)

Just curious, were you playing last night at all? I swore I got put into a game with someone named "Evil Turtle" or something. Made me think of you - because your handle/avatar here for some reason sticks out to me.

Wasn't me man! My tag is BigEvilTurtle. Could've been my brother but I doubt it.

I share the opinion that 343i's communication about the issues have been completely sub par. Official updates are few and sparse, most of the studio members stopped interacting with the customers, official forum support for problems is a joke.

I also love how the EXECUTIVE PRODUCER for the title, Dan Ayoub, completely vanished after the problems started to pile. His last post was on November 13th. It's specially great since looking through his tweets you see he was very active and always answered people's questions and comments. This guy should be putting his face on public, not hiding out.

And finally, the Franchise Community Manager seems to be completely lost. As charismatic as Bravo might be, his inexperience for the job is really showing under pressure. He seems to have a single ctrl+c, ctrl+v answer for tweets, and his insistence on promoting the Halo Championship Series on his personal Twitter feed when most people aren't even able to get into a match is absurd.

You know, after all the problems and communication issues with Halo 4 (yeah, that outright LIE about the first map pack error is still fresh), Frankie said that they learnt a lot and would improve. Can someone possibly say that they improved something? I can't.

I'll pass this along to the team

When everything is fixed they should definetly release a free map pack for H2A.

That would serve both as compensation for the awful launch, and as a way to (hopefully) bring some players back.

Remakes of Terminal, Headlong and Turf would make for an awesome map pack... just sayin'

I mean, 343i has publically acknowledged the problems and are releasing patches. What else do they need to say? I'm being genuine.

What they are going to do to make up for it, some sort of tentative timeline, more back and fourth with customers that isn't "ill pass this along to the team".

When a patch hits and fails to correct problems or creates new ones, tell us why, so much more.

I seriously think ubisoft is handling their broken games better, and this is a flagship title for the console

Im shocked at how silent theyve been as well.

In fairness they do have regular updates on HaloWaypoint.com and they put messages in game. Also somebody from 343 posted in this very topic saying they keep getting death threats so I imagine they're careful what they say online.

Honestly this is a bit of a "damned if they do damned if they don't" situation. It seemed like they were trying to be more open earlier during this whole process. They even said at one point that they had a patch in certification with a possible Wednesday release, which seems to be rare because I don't hear too many devs talk about upcoming patches before they even get through MS or Sony certification, then the patch got delayed a day and everyone lost their shit because the patch that they never promised for a Wednesday didn't show up on a Wednesday.

There sometimes are cons to being too open.

You're absolutely right. Idk maybe its just me but id rather hear about a delayed patch than 6 days of silence followed by the 7th and a patch appearing out of nowhere with no patch notes till later and new bugs cropping up you know?

I mean, 343i has publically acknowledged the problems and are releasing patches. What else do they need to say? I'm being genuine.

They could start by admitting the scale of the problem, admitting that the game never should've released in the state that it did, admit that it was rushed and whatever major development issues there were, and overall be more transparent about the whole thing. Make a real effort to have an honest discussion with their fans personally instead of wrapping things in PR fluff. When you say things like "some users" are experiencing "longer than normal" matchmaking times to try to downplay the issue, it's insulting to those people who are affected, as if they're some sort of outlier.

The game is in shambles and the issues spread far, far beyond just the matchmaking problems. Let's see their bug list that acknowledges all the problems we've reported so we know things like this have been seen. If they want to regain people's trust, some major transparency and honesty are going to be necessary.

Oh, and some patches that start resolving major issues and actually functioning well across the board would be good. As opposed to the bandages here and there which have managed to create new problems.

Maybe this is what annoys me the most.

"some users" aren't experience "longer than normal" anything.

Most users find matchmaking dead broken. Saying its just some users and longer than normal just treats us like idiots.

The fact that this patch didn't fix much and broke other things....what the actual hell

Your friend just basically posted a long winded way of saying this.

There is no excuse for having such a buggy game. If all you wanted to do was play halo.... you could purchase a 360 and play most of them in a much more stable manner.

So rather than just wait until it's patched to your liking, you think someone should spend another $150 on a dying system to play one game. Well, to buy 4 games. Ok...

Under-promise and over-deliver. Mantras of excellent customer service.

I think it would be helpful if 343 communicated the statistics they are seeing of how many users are experiencing longer than normal wait times. I have been able to find games faster with every patch that has been released but I know this isn't the case for many posting here. At the same time, I know that many people who are finding games quickly are not posting about it. They should tell us the percentage of people who's average wait time is considered "longer than normal".

I agree, but is it possible that even if the developers wanted to fix the glaring issues, they weren't given the time and/or resources?

Nobody is denying that there aren't people to blame. But its important to blame the RIGHT people and those people are the management at Microsoft. The developers of this game I am willing to bet had every intention of releasing a quality project and very much wanted to release a quality product, but the powers that be in the suits probably said that the game had to be released and that they could fix the issues later. I seriously doubt the developers at 343 were given a choice to release or delay. Nobody wants to release a shitty product.

As for your comments about QA, who's to say that they didn't prioritize bugs that could have been much worse, while left in bugs that could be fixed via patch? We don't know these things.

Unfortunately, the consumers, us, are the ones suffering.

PR with this has to be with a fine toothed comb. If Phil Spencer comes out and says he's sorry...yippeee...I don't care. If Dan comes out and apologizes again...yippeee...I don't care.

Everyone is sorry, yay, lets hold hands and rejoice. No.

Just come out with a transparent statement/update/bulletin and set the record straight. Give a timeline, something we can visibly see and track progress. Ya know, if the game is going to take till after Christmas to be 95% fixed in matchmaking, just bite the bullet and say it, at least it will calm the waters.

Video game PR is always a joke to me. Karl Magnus at DICE had so many joke of a press releases with his, "we promise to pay you loyal battlefield fans back by giving you double XP weekends, and free battle packs..."

Bungie was usually really good and somewhat transparent with their weekly updates, but 343 is so damn vague and quiet...it's not helping.

I thought the Bulletin was supposed to be weekly but whens the last time Bravo posted one? On top of that, all this esports Halo shit is completely pointless when the game doesn't work for the general population that doesn't have the time nor the patience to gather friends and play custom games.

All I ask for is transparency and a working game. You have my $64 already. What else do you need?

Found a Match of HALO 2A in about 15 sec. 5 vs. 5

Found a Match of HALO 3 in about 90 sec. => 4 vs. 4

At least for me => Seems to be fine

No, Bungie has been awful since Destiny came out. They don't even seem like they're the same company. And they only patch out things that people like, they don't add anything. All patches are to fix exploits in singer player stuff that people don't want removed.

Bungie will not only not fix things people don't like they'll tell you you're stupid for not liking them.

Deej yesterday posting its the fans that are wrong and having dumb reactions makes 343 pr seem amazing

I wonder if we are going to get a Jack Trenton style PSN apology for this from Phil Spencer at the next E3 if this isn't fixed by Christmas.

yeah, I was gonna say - 343 has been very respectful and has made several blog postings since MCC launch.

Bungie has been arrogant and condescending while making terrible game design decisions without good reason.

This. Bungie's post-Destiny PR has been some of the worse I've ever heard of, let alone seen. The customer is always wrong, it's amazing.
