I've had a ton of AFK players, honestly. Usually one or two a game.

As it is right now I'm getting really fast times searching for games so I'm ok restarting the search each time.

What's fast for this game? Still takes me 2-3 minutes at least. It's not awful but it's certainly not good. Edit: I also still have to periodically back out and back in after 5 minutes of searching. Definitely not as often but still a problem. You would think that they could just program the matchmaking to do that for you by just automatically resetting after 5 minutes.

Nah, same as ever for me. Got a match on stonetown. Man does the frame rate chug like crazy. Went over the beach side mancannon, think it must've dropped to low tens for frame rate for a few seconds.

Part of the problem is that it's putting 10+ people on a map made for 8 which makes the drops more severe. It's really noticeable on Sanctuary/Shrine in particular. Stonetown is just a mess FPS-wise no matter how many players you have.

Just installed patch, did a full reboot of Xbox, and now stuck in matchmaking for 5 minutes in Big Team Battle at 'Joining Session'.

It took 7 minutes to matchmake but I got a BTB game. People voted for Halo 4 Team Slayer, and it was laggy as shit - I was bouncing all over the map.

Back on matchmaking now, stuck on Searching for Players for several minutes.

Still unable to find any matches in any game type. I've played 3 total since getting the game. Additionally, the patch decided to install itself while I was playing the H2A campaign and deleted my progress.

A prompt may have come up while I was playing and maybe I accidentally accepted while trying to jump or something? I don't think so though. It just booted me out and wiped my progress once I was back in.

And matchmaking still doesn't fucking work anyway.

Yeah the patch hasn't made any noticeable improvements for me other than my friends and I staying on the same team. It can still take a very long time to find matches.

I'm convinced this game will never work as intended

I'm finding matches quicker than I ever did before in Halo 2 classic, but a new oddity seems to have happened. The spawn system seems completely broken now. Several times I've had enemies spawn right next to me or behind me, teammates spawning right in the middle of a gunfight, and on the last match I played on Lockout, both teams spawned right next to each other at the beginning of the match. Kind of funny, but annoying as well.

Yea, I noticed that as well. Several times I would spawn in the middle of fights, but I would say it has more to do with high player counts.

3 weeks, its been 3 fucking weeks and the game is still in shit condition, I've never felt so robbed

Not here, not since the previous patch. maybe a lot of trouble come from the router settings.

Port forward all these XboxLive ports to your Xbox one. and give it the same IP. (everytime the Xbox connects)

Poort 88 (UDP)
Poort 3074 (UDP en TCP)
Poort 53 (UDP en TCP)
Poort 80 (TCP)
Poort 500 (UDP)
Poort 3544 (UDP)
Poort 4500 (UDP)

I don't believe that will make a difference, as I believe many others and myself included, already have an Open NAT. It just comes down to the game. The matchmaking is still pretty screwed up.

Glad I paid $60 to get into 343's early access program...

22 days, 4 patches, still busted and still no dedicated servers.

I don't want to hear a word from 343 about Halo 5 until MCC is fixed.

You won't know, untill you try ;)

Stating NAT is open is just feedback from the system. My Xbox says my NAT is open, but COD AW says it's moderate...

So I forwarded all those ports, and find games pretty fast in both games. Just to make sure,

I am not saying this is the answer, but it can improve finding matches.

As someone who has been lurking in this thread after heavily considering getting an XB1 for MCC, I'm fucking shocked that it's December and people are still having such horrid issues with matchmaking, and that the netcode is so extremely busted.

Any "lets wait and see for Halo 5" faith I had in 343i is pretty much dead after Halo 4 and this abomination.

Are they really gonna release the Halo 5 "beta" if MCC is still busted?

Already patch #5 after just three weeks with patch #6 coming next week. Nice. Going to be funny when they are still patching this shit and working on it during the Halo 5 beta.

Yes because they have been promising the Halo 5 beta since E3. As for the issues, Patrick from Giantbomb in this week's Bombcast talked about how a source told him the game was rushed but the issues we are experiencing never actually showed themselves during the testing. I genuinely think 343/all parties involved never came across these issues until the game hit live servers with millions of people and variables.

In the Bombcast, it sounded like MCC was meant for next year but with games slipping to 2015 like Quantum Break and even other 3rd party games like The Witcher 3, Microsoft had to move this project up to try and fill a gap.

Hitting some newly introduced bugs. My party voted for a map, it got selected, then we all went back into matchmaking, reconnected to each other, and the vote started again.

I am finding matches now, but the average wait time is around 5 minutes for Big Team Battle (I use BTB as the players generally vote objective). Also, there's some serious lag in many matches. I've had Xbox Live since day one on the first Xbox, waaay back, and never seen games this bad.

If someone has an Open NAT, there is no reason to forward ports though. All of the required ports will open when they are required. I have no other issue with any other game. Call of Duty and Destiny find games instantly.

school is done and i'll finally be able to play soon but hearing that it's still pretty much the same is a piss off
how could this shit have slipped passed them? i bet the game wasn't even 100% complete if it's this big of a disaster

That's not really how modern software development works. There are a number of show stopping bugs for MCC, but launching feature complete isn't the primary target.

Been matchmaking for 20 minutes now. No other players found.

Also, the matchmaking code was patched into the game one week before launch. This one landed late.

The premiere hosting site for game mods, ModDB.com, is hosting their annual Mod of the Year contest this month. Right now the first round is on-going, where users vote for their top mods resulting in a list of the Top 100 mods, which in round 2 will be whittled down to just 10 or so.

Several Halo mods are competing for these spots and I would encourage you to swing by and give them a vote to help show how much the Halo community supports the hard work going into these mods. Just to be clear I'm talking about mods that convert other games into Halo themed games. I'll list below the mods I know of off the top of my head, including a link to their main profile where you can vote for them (having an account to vote isn't necessary, though having an account in the second round later this month will make your vote count more). In round 1 you can vote for as many mods as you like.

To vote just follow the link to the mod and scroll down until you see the "Vote for this mod" button and click it.

Sins of the Prophets

  • A total conversion for the 4X game Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, featuring UNSC vs Covenant gameplay over large star systems with Forerunner planets and automatons mixed in.
    [Gameplay Vid] [Image Gallery]
Homefront

  • A total conversion for the wildly acclaimed RTS Homeworld 2 featuring UNSC and Covenant gameplay. A new demo featuring the Covenant faction will be releasing sometime this week.
    [Gameplay Vid] [Image Gallery]
Covenant at War

  • A mod for the old but dearly loved Star Wars: Empire at War featuring more than 50 well-known units from the Halo-Universe. Space battles are nearly done and the ground battle is a work in progress.
    [Gameplay Vid] [Image Gallery]
Evolutions: Real Time Strategy Evolved

  • A spiritual successor to the cancelled Halogen mod, Evolutions is a mod for the RTS Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. It will feature UNSC and Covenant ground and atmospheric units with a complete custom campaign.
Most of these mods are competing in the unreleased category, which is essentially a popularity contest, meaning they need the Halo community to show their support and give them a leg up on the competition.

Modding is a hobby that takes an extensive amount of work where the only reward is the finished product and the appreciation of the fans. If you appreciate anything that you've seen above please take a moment and vote for them, and be prepared to vote for them again in the second around of voting later this month. If you know of another Halo mod please link to it below and we'll try to get them the support they deserve as well.

Thank you for your time.

I'm just the messenger but my friend posted this on waypoint and its quite a good read.

Your friend just basically posted a long winded way of saying this.

Yeah customs are buggy as well, it sucks that there are so many steps to change teams, it's hard to get a game going, so on and so on, but I'm still able to play Halo vs not to.

There is no excuse for having such a buggy game. If all you wanted to do was play halo.... you could purchase a 360 and play most of them in a much more stable manner. This is even worse than those that defend AC unity because at least in unity I can play through the game without fear of losing progress.

I didn't even want to play MP in MCC. I wanted to play co op with friends and go through the story of each game. Only to find out that these issues extend to co op. That is great. Well let me see about playing it single player. Only to be met by reports of sound issues, game crashes and lost saves for SP progress.

I still have my 360. I also have all of these halo's. I didn't purchase MCC just to have the pleasure of playing halo. I really didn't need to. I purchased MCC for specific features they advertised which simply hasn't worked at all. So yes, I feel a bit upset and worry what is left for 343 because in all honesty, all of these games are ports and one is a remaster so when porting to a system that is iirc ten times more powerful than its predecessor one has to wonder how they even managed to have the SP elements broken.

I haven't seen that many AFK players though. Having every player just stay in the lobby was really the only way to get matches in relatively quick succession before this patch. Now it's not possible and I have to wait even more than before.

I have. And having people staying in the lobby had also been buggy as hell for me, sometimes resulting in a minute of waiting before a connection error or the game straight up crashing.

That's great guys, but me and quite a few others are clearly still having these issues and no matter how many times you say it's working for most people... it doesn't make it work for me. So much so I traded the game in.
Don't worry, you are not missing anything. Anything good I mean. LOL. No, but seriously, that game is bad.

The MCC is pretty broken right now, but at least the games themeselves are great, and it will all work as it should eventually (sooner rather than later, I hope)

It's way past the point of saving, right? I mean, even if the latest patch were to make everything right, they've lost a huge percentage of population.

It pains me to see Halo go down like this. Pains me.

Wasn't really that annoyed for the first few weeks because I'm mostly a campaign player and I luckily didn't notice many bugs. But I must say I'm more than a bit pissed that the game is getting discounted and still isn't fixed. Partially because we paid for an incomplete product, but also for the poor folks who might think the discount is a steal for some amazing game for kids or friends for Xmas. Without realize what a disaster they are buying.

Yup. It's been like three weeks now. Any new Halo player this game got has long since been soured on it.

I'm actually kinda that guy. I bought an OG Xbox but was never a huge Halo fan. That continued into my 360 ownership. Not to say I didn't think they were fun, but I didn't buy one at full price since the original. I just loved the hell out of those consoled for the rest of the amazing line-up and Halo was just a minor gig for me.

And I won't say I've been totally burned, but I'm certainly not impressed. I would have hoped MS would have handed this franchise to a group better equipped to handle the scale of a project like this.

So I guess I'm left where I began. I haven't been converted from casual into fan, and will likely wait until H5 is on sale, instead of buying it at full price like I might have done if this bundle hadn't been a mix of fun and misfire.

Yeah there is no salvaging it. See Gears of War 2. At best, you hope that the Halo 5 beta will bring people back, but all hope of having it have a large and meaningful population for a year is gone.

Halo 5 would have naturally cannibalized most of the playerbase as each subsequent release has done.

When everything is said and done, the population will probably be 20% or less of what it could have been. All casual and non-fans have moved on, even hard-core Halo fans are packing it up, trading it in/asking for refunds. Maybe if they put this game in a bundle so that anyone who buys an xbox one in the future has a copy it can maintain a decent population but I don't know. They'll really have to tweak playlists soon, once all the games are in and ranks are back. That's the worst, is that you're going to have it tough with low player counts having decent skill matching.

There is no player counters either, so we don't even know how many people are playing in what playlist.

343 seemingly had fuck all to do with the MCC other than patching it post release

I don't agree at all. Those companies did what they were contracted for. Certain Affinity made them a Forge, 6 remastered maps, and the H2A MP gameplay. Saber Interactive made them the Halo 2 Anniversary campaign and the instant switching, plus bringing them Halo CE Anniversary campaign etc. Blur to do the cinematics, Sequence Group to do the terminals, Ruffian games ported Halo 3 and Halo 4 for them. United Front Games gave them the UI they developed that brought it all together supposedly.

It's been up to 343 to make it all work, and has been from the start. If it didn't work, or they couldn't do it, they should never have launched. From the start, 343 has been front and center every step of the way, whether it's Bonnie, Dan and their pros showing off the game at E3 and talking about it, or other senior staff at other games conventions, hosting tournaments etc.

Don't get me wrong, I get that a lot of 343 never worked on MCC and has been busy for Halo 5, but it's still their name on the game, it's still 343 that had final say on how to build the game and get it working, they're handling the networking, the servers, the playlists, and the launch of the game.

And he can get this game lmao, its working better now and he has 30-40 hours of campaign to go through.
Now I know you're just an apologist making things up
Because the next two pages of post contradict what you state above, bungie just fixed an 'xbox' problem with destiny, something about Xbox live party's don't play well with the game, seems to be a common trouble starter on this system.

The kid is 15, he doesn't care about campaign he wants multiplayer

You two should start a support group together

I wont consider improvements enough till everyone sayis theyre finding matches fast, and with even teams.

It seems this patch did pratically nothing.

I'm planning on starting to co op all of the games, chronologically, with a friend later today. Split screen. I have zero interest in the PvP. Should I be worried about anything? I haven't really been keeping up on the drama. Thanks.

It seems like a pretty small patch release just to nail some of the UI issues. Another one scheduled early next week.

It'd be a better read if he didn't structure it like a soccer mom sending a Reply To All e-mail about her kid not getting to play defender
EDIT: getting deeper into this thing it reads more like someone's mad obummer's in office (WAKE UP SHEEPLE)
is this dude really trying to get twitter followers at the end of it?

Play levels to completion and you should have minimal issues. I've played all of CE, half of 2, and 3/4ths of 3. Only had a mission drop once, and my buddy didn't get end game achievements when we beat CE, but we just played the last level again and everything unlocked as intended.

This was over Xbox Live though; never played local split-screen. I've heard some of the games have frame rate issues in split-screen so be prepared for that
