The next rendition will have him portrayed as Polynesian, good call!Joel should have been black then. Actually they should have made him Chinese. Makes no difference.
Really this keeps you up at night? No it’s not racist, it happens all the time. She’s a side character. Does it matter? Does it effect her character in any way?Well that’s kind of weird. Why did they feel the need to do that? And have her wear a nose ring on top.
If she were black in the game and they casted a white person, wouldn’t that be considered racist?
Pedro Pascal is from Chile.
I think he is perfect casting. He is so good in the role. That doesn't make him any less white to the sane part of the world. I think he looks pretty close to original Joel. The drawl is perfect.
I like him too. I wish the story focused on him more.I think he is perfect casting. He is so good in the role.
This episode will be Ellie taking care of Joel and meeting the canibals?
Pandering is capitalism. Capitalism bothers you.I'm just trying to understand the logic.
White character being portrayed by black person? No problem.
Black character being portrayed by a white person? Problem.
It just seems like it was forced and it comes across as pandering.
For someone who played the game, it's distracting and I'm surprised no one else is bothered by it.
I think the entire episode is the Left Behind flashback. This episode will be Ellie taking care of Joel and meeting the canibals?

It isnt hitting the same because you were already hit by it 10 years ago.
Another thing that bothers me, for the first 5 episodes there was literally no relationship forming between Joel & Ellie, and in ep6 we‘re supposed to believe that they have a deep connection with each other?
Is it generally good story telling when important character developments happen off screen?Well, episode 6 starts with "THREE MONTHS LATER"
You think Joel and Ellie ingnored each other during that period of time?
No, I think this is how it will be structured:This episode will be Ellie taking care of Joel and meeting the canibals?
There were a few moments of bonding in the previous episodes and it's been 3 months since Henry died.Woah, I never knew Maria was such a sunaddict, her tan is awesome!
Seriously, why change something like that? Oh I forgot, you‘re woke…

That scene at the ranch in the game was the peak of their relationship in the game, it‘s kind of weird that they tried to pack some chemistry in one episode while ignoring this fundamental element in all the episodes before. Feels kind of rushed.
And all the other changes, they‘re just too much for me as a fan of the games.

I haven’t seen ratings updates about later episodes…going down?
They were literally laughing before Henry and Sam held them at gunpoint...In the game they were already bonded when Henry showed up. But that development was completely missed in the show.

will be interesting to see if/when/how they reveal joel isn't gonna die for people who don't know the story. could keep it til episode 8, or open with it like left behind the game does, or close the episode with that reveal
if they use the cliffhanger traditionally then yeah it'll be revealed right awayI'm going to guess that they're going to reveal it at the beginning of episode 7.
But something keeps telling me they're going to wait until the end. I don't see them waiting until Episode 8.
It is the shaky cameraThis movie had Gustavo's track 'The Choice' for the first time. My favorite of his.
Troy Baker is in episode 8 next week, as seen in the preview.
I thought it was a good episode, but the fight at the end looked really cheesy. Can't put my finger on it, it just looked really out of place compared to the rest of the episode. Like it was something out of a 90's low budget TV show.
Yep, played the first game when I had my kids and anyone saying Joel was selfish ain't got no kidsFuck this is such a great show.
Played dozens of times but mann it hits different now that I got a daughter.
Really? I thought it was the best part of an already incredible episode. It was so tense, even after me finishing the game over 10 timesThis movie had Gustavo's track 'The Choice' for the first time. My favorite of his.

Their story needs to be told before Season 2, so this was the perfect time to tell it.That episode felt like terrible management of screen-time.
The Left Behind flashback DLC works in the video game because it's a humanizing flashback that hits well AFTER the events of the first game. But seeing this cutaway with less context in television? Was just boring and felt normal since the show is more void of action and tense moments like the game.
At the very least, like the game - they should have jumped between the flashback and present time more and progressed the present time further. First genuinely boring and off-putting episode of the series so far.
What was with the casting, I couldn't take Giant Riley next to Ellie seriously either.
