Oh if only you’d read Fire & Blood. This was foreshadowing GRRM styleEpisode 2 had 2 dragons one of gold full of fury and bold, one of red that wanted a kings hand dead. Alas though a twist at the end the king married the girl that spent time with him.
Does this show follow the books to the letter or is the story just adapted for HBO? What about the charecters?
It's using Fire & Blood as a template, but GRRM has mentioned that there are two canons: those written by the victors, and the history we get to see in live action during the show. Unreliable narrator and all that.
So basically the conclusions will be the same from the book, but how we arrive at those conclusions will be different (or even were untold) from what we read in the book.
Side note: GRRM is never finishing Fire & Blood vol 2 so the real fun will begin in later seasons when the showrunners have to figure shit out themselves. Wee.

As long as they don't get their own Star Wars trilogy deal we should be safe.Side note: GRRM is never finishing Fire & Blood vol 2 so the real fun will begin in later seasons when the showrunners have to figure shit out themselves. Wee.
The book is basically a history book. The show is taking the characters and the major plot points and expanding upon them.Does this show follow the books to the letter or is the story just adapted for HBO? What about the charecters?
No he means that the entirety of the story this show is based around takes place in the first book. We already know how it ends. HBO is just expanding upon the story material and filling in the blanks that GRRM left in the book. You've seen all the episodes? I hope you're right.
And THAT is why it is so successful so far. The very best GoT ever performed was when it was as faithful to the source material as it could be. Season 1 of GoT was as close as anyone could reasonably expect the show to be to the books. Its why it is counted as one of the best of the series. HotD is doing the same thing. It's staying VERY close to the source material. Its weird, this just feels like classic GoT while doing its own thing.
He’s not great at politics and thinks that wearing the crown is enough to get to decide the course of his own life—it is not, but he has presided over a time of peace and stability, so he wrongfully believes that will have a tendency to continue regardless of his choices. Being a genuine guy who follows his heart leaves him open to manipulation by Otto and Alicent as well. He's lonely, misses his wife, his daughter is distant and rebellious, and Alicent is there to fill his wife's void. It's all a calculated move but he can't see that in the moment.is it just me or did this episode felt all over the place? First half is kinda slow, the latter half is just goes lightspeed. It felt like Viserys made his decision all of sudden without much thought. He didnt even tell her beforehand. Why would he pick Alicent and antagonize the 2nd most powerful man, despite being warned by his council beforehand???
The Queen That Never Was turns out to be The Queen of Sass. The one woman in all of Westeros who understands what she is going through and she tells her its useless to swim against the current.“Do you remind the king’s men of that when you carry their cups?”
Yeah, I feel like she was trying for Shae's (Tyrions favorite whore in Got from the free cities IIRC) germanic accent and that was as close as she could getAldo, Daemon's whore's accent..wtf, so fake and forced. No one on set thought it sounded horrible???

No needless drama aside from the age changes mostly. No made up BS. No needless twists. It's just the story as it was written except with more detail upon a story that already has an ending and that will be its saving grace.
I just hope they hold that course.
ep2 without context:

This is also what i was thinking. Keeping the GoT intro is not a bad decision, but i would have liked it to have a spin on it. Like The Wire, where each season had the same song, but singed differently. The blood river intro was disappointing. Same tune, exactly I think, and that model of Valyria adds no contextual info unlike that genius map intro of GOT, at least not yet.
Except the helmet poor Cristian Cole had, that thing was swimming around his little headThe sets, outfits and fabrics and shit are fucking AMAZING in this show. The team that handles all of that shit better be getting an award when they come around. It's incredible to see how much detail is in the armour sets and clothes
bruh needs to get some gainzExcept the helmet poor Cristian Cole had, that thing was swimming around his little head
I enjoy his interactions with his niece, it fleshes out his character - I think he does care for her, which is a point of emotional conflict. He needs to drop that hooker and marry the ship King's daughter
i haven't read the books but hasnt fire and blood got different (short?) stories in it and what the show is based on is just one of them? so even if there is a fire and blood 2 wouldn't it have different stories in it? i thought the entire "house of the dragon" story was complete in the book? or is it to be continued in book 2 (if it ever comes out)? It's using Fire & Blood as a template, but GRRM has mentioned that there are two canons: those written by the victors, and the history we get to see in live action during the show. Speak for yourself. She's hot stuffAlso I am normally not critical of how people look, but if the daughter is the star of the show, she may be the ugliest lead I have ever seen. It might just be the wig....it all looks awful on her.
It's actually Milly Alcock. She's cast as Young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. Emma D'Arcy is also cast as Rhaenyra, but we haven't seen her on screen yet. She seems to be credited with some voice work so far. Unlike Milly, she's ugly as sin imoIt's the wig. I googled her name, Emma D'Arcy, and she looks ok without it. She's a they/them by the way.
It is not hope it is literal fact. The story of these characters in the first part is fully finished. Showrunners and GRRM said the show will cover it all in 3-4 seasons, after which they may cover the rest of the Targs history in an anthology format. You've seen all the episodes? I hope you're right.
Nah this is a particular story within the Targaryen history following this story. If this is a success I imagine they might pick another period and do something with that. But it's not going to be a continuous through line from the start of this through to the beginning of GoTHe did in Doctor Who, and he does it in this show: Matt Smith develops more spit in the corner of his mouth than a damn llama. It drives me fucking insane.
Otherwise, I'm liking it so far.
I'm not really seeing how it'll be more than a few seasons, though.
They're not actually planning to go all the way up to the start of GoT, are they?
I'm not really seeing how it'll be more than a few seasons, though.
No, you are probably thinking of the "Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" book which collects the Dunk and Egg short stories. Those are fantastic and are set about halfway between HotD and GoT in the timeline. "Fire and Blood" is kinda like a modern popular history book, like something from Stephen Ambrose, that "collects" several remembrances of this ear and tries to meld them, so there are alternate versions of events and the like.i haven't read the books but hasnt fire and blood got different (short?) stories in it and what the show is based on is just one of them? so even if there is a fire and blood 2 wouldn't it have different stories in it? i thought the entire "house of the dragon" story was complete in the book? or is it to be continued in book 2 (if it ever comes out)?
She wasn’t that jarring to me in episode one, but yikes, she was terribad in this second episode.jfc Sonoya Mizuno is seriously the worst actress ever, and to top it off she's doing a horrible accent in this show as well
