Anyone have a good example of what is considered a strong warrior aggro deck? I play warrior control in ranked, and think it's a lot of fun and often very capable, but I'd possibly like to try an aggro deck in casual.

The deck reynad used to hit legend was an aggro warrior deck.

http://reynad.com/decks/warrior/rank-25-to-legend-in-5-days-on-new-account-for-0#.Uz2dl1fDtI0

Its basically a facerush deck, hunter does it better and its a bit outdated as it can't get through taunts as well as hunter can.

For example, Ragnaros is usually a 2+ for 1 value. Even if you deal with it properly, you're still behind (receive 8 damage and -1 card). Now if you have these Legendary value card yourself, you can shrug it off because you know you will be doing the same value play yourself later in the game. Someone without Legendaries will only fall behind further and further.

Faceless + BGH, no legendaries there, and happens to me about as often as Ragnaros is actually useful. The person playing Rag is worse off for having played him, doubly so if his Rag targeted your Harvest Golem or something tiny.

Season over? Can I unlock card backgrounds now?

The Season just started actually, the last season that ended was a Beta Test Season, and had no card backs to unlock or prizes at all.

This Season's card backs will be awarded after the season is over, so around May 1st.

I think you can get 2 this season.

1 for just competing in the ranked season and 1 for reaching legendary by seasons end.

not 100% sure though

Almost correct, you get 1 for making rank 20, and the other for making legendary. The one you get for reaching rank 20 is unique to this month's PVP ranked season, you won't be able to get it next month if you don't make rank 20 (a different back will be awarded each month).

I've played for quite a while with super awful booster luck, so I know what it's like to deal with Legendaries when you barely have any. It's not fun. Basically whenever you face a Legendary card, it seems like bullshit if you don't have any of your own.

Many of the Legendaries are completely underwhelming if you're talking about Constructed power level. e.g. Lorewalker Cho, Millhouse, Nozdormu, The Beast, Gruul, Deathwing, Onyxia, Malygos, etc. They have fun and cool effects, but that's about it.

Even the Legendaries that are decent in Constructed are not game-winning bombs. The three strongest Legendaries are Leeroy, Rag and Cairne, and beyond that the rest are situational or only used in particular decks.

In a game like Magic, there are rares and mythics that entirely obsolete common cards. See: Baneslayer Angel vs. Serra Angel, Soldier of the Pantheon vs. Elite Vanguard, etc. As in, they are the same exact card but better. Hearthstone has done a really good job of not having that be the case.

-Blizzard said it's not happening today.
-Blizzard is showing off the iPad version to the US press today
-so maybe tomorrow?
-one can hope.

Don't expect it till at least next week. They have been advertising for weeks now that it will be playable at their PAX booth. I could be wrong, but it would mean a lot more to play a game at an event that hasn't already been released.

For what?

Because I hate paperwork and dishonesty.

The "paperwork" is minimal (so many people are complaining about this.) You don't even have to do any crazy workaround or anything. You literally just change the store and create an account (I didn't actually read the ToS that I agreed to, so I can't tell you what you are agreeing to =P) You don't even have to fake an address or anything, because if you do it right (initiate the sign up for the account by first clicking to buy a free app) you don't even have to put a credit card or address in.

But alas, I am done trying to urge people to complete these easy steps to play the game early (and I am sure Blizzard realizes that people who actually want to play it, can.)

But seriously guys, if you are too lazy to take these simple steps to get the game, stop complaining! ;)

It pisses me right off that i can't play this on my ipad yet! I'm an American dammit, I expect the best, and I'm not used to this waiting shit. I want to properly slack off at work playing this game, not posting on gaf..whyyyyyyy!!!!

You say minimal but I'm envisioning a situation where I have to sign in with my normal profile any time I want to play other games, then back into the Canadian one just to play HS, and back and forth etc. and I switch between several games on a 5-30 minute basis.

And what would I need to do once it finally does release in the US?

you don't have to sign in CAN account to play hearthstone.

you do if you want to buy credit... but you can just do that on your pc.

when it comes out in the US, just delete the app and dl the app from the US store. Thats it.

How is playing warrior control more skillful than aggro like zoo lock?

Generally speaking, it's due to having more options available to you so finding the best play is harder. Aggro decks have fewer meaningful decisions to make but they tend to each weigh more, however.

Who paid you to grab Dr. Pavel?
control warrior, control warrior, zoo lock, miracle rogue.

make your own decks you fucks.

fuck we need more cards.

i'm hungry.

I downloaded this to my computer last night and played for 8 hours.

8 hours.

I haven't played a game for that long in years.

I stuck with the mage and have her at about level 16 or 17 and have tried my best to pick what I think are good cards, but I've never really played a card game like this before.

I do seem to be doing ok, I beat all the expert bots just now.

There is not switching needed, at all. you sign in to download the app, and then you can switch back to your profile and not even worry about it. You used to have to enter the password to update an app if it was downloaded from an account that is not signed in, which was no big deal, but I think they even changed that in iOS 7 I believe. And as someone else said, you simply delete it when it comes out in the US and redownload it with you main account, as all the data is saved in the cloud.

I did this same thing last year with PvZ2 when it came out. When I deleted the AUS version and downloaded the US version, all of my progress was even transferred over, even though I played the app from a different store.

yeah it really comes down to card variety. right now it's very easy to come to similar conclusions.

i don't mind people thoughtlessly netdecking because they often have no idea how to pilot them.

If I'm good at MTG will my skills translate well to Hearthstone?

I have heard people say they they transitioned from MTG to Hearthstone and were able to play pretty well. It is quite a different game, but I think you would definitely like it!

how frequent are new cards and rebalances in this game?

i'm seeing terms like seasons, so i'd assume some aspects are 'locked' per season for fairness?

how does the crafting system work (think imight have missed a guide on the front page).

The "seasons" are more for ranked play, as after a season ends, your rank is reset. When they have rolled out updates, though, they haven't seemed to wait until the end of the season, but those were also "test seasons."

As for the crafting, you can disenchant cards for a specific amount of dust, and creating cards costs a specific amount of dust.

Ranked seems much harder this season. I can't make it past rank 19...Just bounce back and forth..19 to 20, 20 to 19...Made to rank 11 last season with simple aggro Pally deck which doesn't work for crap any more...I'm not sure what's going on...But on the positive side..

Beat a taunting (lots of "threatening" emotes") hunter today by shadowstepping Leeroy twice...so he got played 3 times in one turn...I only had 2 health left and he had 17...When the miracle works, it works well..When it doesn't...It's like driving a car on 3 flat tires.."you go nowhere" (*said in the Joe Montana 2 announcer voice*)

Same here. I started a few weeks ago and now am playing the DKMR Varranis Paladin aggro deck but am missing the legendaries, Avenging Wrath and Arcane Golems. But I seem to be getting my ass kicked and have never permanently left rank 17.

Are the expensive cards really that crucial to the deck?

Got back into this on iPad after playing on PC beta a little. Bought a few packs and got a Legendary called Yserla or something. That any good?

Ysera is a very fantastic card, yes.

To elaborate, it has 12 health and costs 9 mana, so often times your opponent will have burned through a lot of their removal cards by the time Ysera comes out, and if that's happened 12 health is a lot to get through. The dream cards you draw at the end of a turn with Ysera functioning are, I think, almost all very useful. So if Ysera isn't dealt with the card becomes problematic for your opponent quickly.

Opponent had to sit on 2 dead cards the entire game to be able to do that.

And it's 2 epics, not really that cheap either. Plus Faceless value scales with the enemy, so it just proves that the orignal card it copied, Ragnaros, is a good value card. Without BGH (which is the best answer to Ragnaros), Faceless is just a copy of someone else's awesome card, except one turn behind.

I believe I had at least 3 good Legendaries before I even had my first Faceless.

But Leeroy, Cairne and Ragnaros are insanely good Legendaries, it doesn't matter that you list those that are not. Two semi-equal decks with one player running 'the good Legendaries' and one that doesn't is a huge difference. Then there's Ysera and Sylvanas for control decks, which are hard to beat value wise with non Legendary cards.

Alexstrasza can do some crazy work, so does Jaraxxus.

Sure there are situations when these cards won't win you the game, but value wise they are just leagues higher than their mana counterparts.

Leeroy is needed...Absolutely necessary....Cheap, hard hitter that can be buffed..He wins games with this deck all the time.

Arcane Golems are absolutely necessary. You need the later game nukes..Never, or rarely, use them before turn 6 or 7...gives your opponent too much of an advantage.

Avenging Wrath is nice, but not absolutely needed...

Divine Spirit is necessary, as this deck is all about early card dump and replenish...No replenish=no win.

The more minions on the board the more value Rag loses. Or if your opponent can quickly spawn minions (such as snakes / hounds.)

Well, switched my US iTunes account to a Canadian one using the tutorial on Reddit.

Cons: The game is almost unplayable on iPad Mini (1st gen). Its super laggy, crashed once, and takes forever to matchmake

Pros: This was the contents of the pack I got for free when trying on iPad

Awesome, setup a canadian account in 30 seconds and threw it on my ipad. Hopped into a match, and won with my paladin deck. Then I was given an "iPack" for playing on ipad. Opened it up and it had a Tirion Fordring in it.

Thanks. Yeah Divine Favour is make or break for the deck. I love when they play a Northshire Cleric or Starving Buzzard, and I'm like, yeap, keep 'em comin :)

Got two more Leper Gnomes in my iPack. RNGesus, I pray to thee.
