i was so beat yesterday that i fell asleep while watching netflix around 7pm so i couldnt play it last night when it was going to unlock but woke up super early and i had to boot it up at least to see the intro

i must admit im disappointed it only gave me 2 languages options (english and french), i wanted to play this princess mononoke style with english subs but i suppose they do that to make the download smaller /US PSN

I dont notice much difference between the modes on PRO, what are y'all running with. I went for high performance.

I am on 1080p screen and surprisingly decided stick to performance mode. Game is very soft looking in either mode but in perf mode hair in cutscenes looks better( probably because there is no checkerboard artifacts ) and i do not notice any jaggies.

Yeah I was confused too, just click on the tripcaster anyway and it'll work.

This is part of the combat system: you're fighting giant amoured mechas, you can't just spam arrows and hope for a win. You have to use the tools you're given: you can tear off armour plating with 'tearblast' arrows, weaken the shell with liquid nitrogen grenades that make it much more brittle, use shock bombs and trip casters to stun and go for criticals, light them up with fire arrows.

Most enemies have some basic weakness and this all this helps level the playing field, but what really counts is knowing where to put the arrows.

Snapjaws, for example, are tough as nails, but they have two 'blast' cannisters mounted just behind the head. Hit both with fire arrows and you'll probably rip off about 80% of it's health and leave it severely vulnerable. After that, a single well placed, precision point arrow will finish it off.

I've had enemies that took me to the cleaners in the first few encounters that I can now bring down with relative ease. Every machine has its tells and a range of approaches. Just a case of using the tools you've got.

I saw several videos of Aloy shooting those cannisters with fire arrows and it didn't take off 80% of its health, it was still slow. That was hard mode maybe?
The traps seem to be the best part for me yeah.

Da Fuq Amazon. They have a hard on for a dead credit card it seems and the upshot is I have to wait because they make mistakes. Then they send me the pre-order code for whatever dlc it comes with for a game that I might not get until Friday smh.

Some of the combat encoutners later on Normal actually gets tough especially with how many enemies there are. I was kinda surprised how quickly it ramps up in some areas.

Well nioh did the same thing that i feel like horizon has done, it just gave you low tier versions of armor you can unlock later in game. Considering the banuk set looks almost identical to ones ive seen in the early game, i'd guess the carja one is in too at this point.

I did. There is only 1 credit card associated with my account. They somehow tried to use a deleted card. They somehow still want to use a dead card that is no longer associated with my account because I deleted it from there like 3 months ago.

Edit - I have no clue why this happened. Customer Service couldn't say and sent it off to be looked into. They obviously hold deleted credit card details and a computer somewhere tried to use it.

Yes you can. Quest and waypoint pathfinding can be toggled off from the option menu.

Downsampling bruh

I would consider trading some resolution for LOD fade-in distance though, if given the option. There's also some weird pop-in going on at the sides of the screen when turning, noticable with water and buildings.

It's real goddamn pretty though, I don't mean to knock it.

Nice! I've managed the Playstation Pro and the 4K HDR telly, but I couldn't stretch to OLED ;_;

I'm still excited to see just how good it looks. I'm very easily impressed with game visuals so I get the sense Horizon is going to blow my tiny idiotic mind.

About an hour in.

Game is rather gorgeous. There are some problems though.

Bot AI is rather dumb. Surprisingly dumb. The fact there's no sort of self-preservation routine going on when they're investigating and see a sparking ruin of a machine next to them kinda takes me out of it. This leads to the stealth attack mechanic's ability to be abused to an absurd degree.

Conversations with quest givers or just general populace is incredibly flat. Voice acting is fine but the general framing and interaction of the conversation is super lifeless and disappointing.

I'll give you towers, but how do the first two mean it's like a Ubisoft game, and not just like almost every other RPG? And Ubisoft games aren't even bad games.

And the way the towers are done are so much better. Everyone so far that I've done has had a slightly different challenge.

I know thr red grass is ideal for stealth but ive used trees and rocks to lure thrm off me when it goes from red back to yellow. I also had a wtf moment when i did the first side quest. One of those seekers climbed on top of a boulder i was hiding and spotted me quickly.

I mentioned it before but it feels ALOT like Witcher 3. I can see alot of the influences. Even some of the sidequests where you need to track people is quite similar.

have you played far cry 3 + 4? it's nothing like uncharted. this game so far is reminding me a lot of far cry 3 + 4.

Yeah, the game is littered with so many intricate details that just show the love that went into making this. Guerrilla has set the bar above even Rockstar standards, if you ask me. As the game is not just amazing to look at with lots of little details and a godly atmosphere, it also plays like a dream and has amazing controls.

Oh, did I mention how well the story telling is handled? I can't gush about this game enough.

I picked this game up around noon yesterday, but couldn't play until the evening because I was working from home for the day. I played about 3 hours last night, and holy shit is this game amazing in 4k HDR. I'm already approaching a gig in screenshots. Aloy is an amazing character. I feel this game is going to be special indeed.

I hope they drop Witcher 3 type DLC. If so, I will have to upgrade my TV to a 4k display.


Also I'm the type of gamer that needs to complete all of the side quests in an area, that I come across, before moving to the main quest. I hope this doesn't hurt my experience.

Playing on a Bravia X800D + Pro, and it's blowing my mind how good the game looks.

You can really appreciate the HDR effect when the sunlight filters through the foliage, looks crazy realistic to me. And seriously, no game comes close to Horizon when we're talking about foliage.
