Horizon Zero Dawn - Preview Thread [Up: All Previews Live]

you mean greg miller, who runs the show "PS I Love You", said this new first party game from sony looks good?

legit shook
They also don't like everything that comes out of Sony First party. Colin thinks TLG should be have cancelled or given out as PS+. They are not interested in Gravity Rush so they are not even going to bother to cover it. The have very openly criticized PS4 Pro. So what was your point again?

Yes because they are not afraid to tell their opinion even if they focus in Playstation stuff. Kinda Funny is not paid by Sony and they don't give positive previews for everything. Just ask The Last Guardian.

Oh snap, Horizon will launch with a photo mode :O I'm gonna rape the shit out of this button

Damn, I really think I'm in love with Aloy. This game is shaping up to be the next big franchise. The previews are raving good things about this game.

what?

i'm not console warrior-ing, i quoted a person who said that expressing concern about a poor cutscene is "naysaying"

do y'all not remember what happened with no man's sky? blind hype isn't helpful.

fallout 4 got roasted for shitty animations. people roasted me:andromeda for shitty animations. we shouldn't give this a pass.

you know what you where doing , don't try to play stupid now.

Oh my word, hold me GAF. March is just insane. Switch - Breath of the Wild then Mass Effect, Horizon and Ghost Recon Wildlands on PS4 Pro? My wallet is literally bleeding out of every orifice already. Switch and Zelda are pre-ordered so that's locked in. I'm thinking I might get one of the other 3. Probably Horizon. Then I will gorge myself on Mass Effect over the summer. But GR Wildlands' gun customisation system pushes all of my buttons.

1st world problems.

I'm glad the gameplay is supposedely ok, I've no interest in games that only have graphics going for it.

Then again, animation aside, the dialogue seems atrocious. Playing Yakuza 0 right now and I'm loving the dialogue and acting, the unnatural dialogue that's plopped in everywhere in Horizon reminds me of the atrocious hot mess that was Tomb Raider.

I don't mind storytelling in games but if its done badly then nothing can save it for me. Too distracting. More often than not when a game attempts to tell a story and plays it straight it falls flat on its face.

The look and feel of combat is often impressive if chaotic at times. The controls are sharp and at least during the hands-on session the combat felt enjoyable, especially if you had the time and space to plan it properly. Many of the robotic animals acted the way their real world equivalent might, but other more exotic kinds will provide us with some unexpected twists and turns later on. Horizon has the potential to create emergent "war stories" of both successful and failed hunts, or encounters with hostile tribes. Trapping unfamiliar robots might not be as easy as it sounds, as we found out when some of them jumped over our electrified tripwires on their way to claw at Aloy's face.

Question: IGN's preview talked about the gameplay and open-world in the positive but said the few sidequests they played were standard fetch quests.can you elaborated on what you encountered and how did it mesh with the gameplay?

Yeah, I saw a lot of standard fetch quests. They essentially lead you into particular combat scenarios. There were also some "trials" that asked you to finish certain objectives with a timer. Different rewards for completing at gold, silver, and bronze times. And then there are the Tallnecks, which are themselves side quests. I wrote a sidebar about them. I'm reserving judgement for how side quest variety will ultimately play out, but this is a combat game first and foremost, and the quests convinced me of that.

Grow up, you absolute child

like, the last thing i posted about it was this:
It won't suffer, it has sony's entire marketing behind it and it's a very casual friendly game/idea - gorgeous visuals, open world, light RPG. If it gets good reviews, it will easily be one of this year's best sellers.

I personally will have to skip it cus of the Switch but I'm sure I'm a very small minority!
why would i post that a few days ago then subsequently come into a new impressions thread with some kind of agenda?

or there's this
lip sync looks a bit off in a lot of those shots

loving the visual direction tho, so excited
or this
Great video, so excited for this game.

Loving what that guy was saying about Aloy's design. They get it :P

Lmao its weird that the IGN preview is the most mixed.

Times have changed.

Gamesradar preview is mixed about combat too. They say the combat can become boring with just the spear being the melee weapon, being forced to attack from distance or stealthly.

Do rival factions hunt robot-dino?

There’s no shortage of things to do early on in Horizon Zero Dawn. Players can amass a laundry list of quests and errands to take on, and those missions feel like they flow and overlap organically. There are cities and encampments to visit, as well as characters you’ll encounter in the wild who will ask Aloy for favors. These side quests all feel like a part of Aloy’s overall character growth, not simply distractions from your core mission.
