Horizon Zero Dawn Spoiler-free Impressions (for real this time)

Each set focuses on different stat boosts, but you can customize with modifications. There seems to be like at least
15
or so armors she can wear, and I'm not even done with the game.
Different sets with different stats but overall the look doesn't variate all that much. Still nice looking but don't expect tons of armor or huge differences.

Thanks for the answer, a little disappointing, as I usually use a ton of different armour sets when playing big games, but the few they've shown all looked great, so I'll take quality over quantity. You can't mix and match different sets right?

As for this being a WRPG I find that to be a huge stretch. If this is an RPG then GTA is an RPG, far cry, tomb raider, RDR, zelda, are all RPGs. This is an action adventure open world game through and through.

I'd say it's an action adventure game as well with light RPG elements. Either way. One hell of a game. I like fun, exciting, new world's to discover and this game hits all the right moments.

It's at least structured way more like a WRPG than a Far Cry, TR, RDR, etc. game is, though, isn't it? In the way you approach main quests and side quests and dialogue and what not.

I don't know if anyone has really asked this but does this game have the 3D audio that UC4 has? Just asking to potentially justify purchasing Sony's platinum headset.

Impressions look pretty positive to say the least. This might be my first $60 purchase in quite some time.
Edit:Holy shit, I'm no longer a junior anymore! Now that I'm no longer in fear of a permanent ban, I can stop holding myself back.....to some extent.

Crafting is the same as Tomb raider, leveling up is the same as far cry. The only thing I see RPGish are the stats and mods.

You stumble upon awesome AI moments. There are stuff to find and collect, most of it is marked on the map already (you could not buy the map that shows them to you but whatever, it's pretty obvious). You are not going to find an interesting puzzle, or cave with a mini game or something inside. The game is what it is, you fight robot animals.
That's a little disappointing, but ah well. Was hoping for a bit more variety in the things to do department, but robot dinosaurs is cool enough.

What do you exactly collect and find? Crafting materials?

It'd be like the 4th one of the year already, 2017 has been really good so far.

There's going to be at least 8 GOTY tier games methinks, there's still Persona 5 and Mario Odyssey. Variety in this year's lists is going to either be massive or extremely samey.

Which is weird because NMS isn't even the most hyped game I've seen, it's just one that turned out to be a bad game.

- TLG delivered
- FF15 delivered
- Bloodborne delivered
- Nioh delivered
- UC4 delivered

Next up

Horizon
Persona 5
Zelda BotW
Mass Effect
Nier (more niche but hyped)
RDR

Seems to me most games hyped end up pleasing a majority of fans more often than not. NMS is an anomaly IMO, not the norm.

And most people that were disappointed with no man's sky were hyped about promises of things we hadn't seen and people hadn't played in previews. In many other games where people are hyped, like Horizon, people are hyped about what we've seen in gameplay from previews and impressions from those that played it. So nothing like the no man's sky situation.

I guess the ones concern trolling saw their chance with the no man's sky backlash and are holding on to it forever to try and prove their point. They're also probably the ones lurking review threads in wait for that one low review to say "Ha! told you so" run away and then later complain how the review thread was a shitshow.

Sorry I know it must have been said plenty of times but I can't find it so... At what hour exactly the embargo ends? Is there a countdown? Thanks!

Pretty hyped for this game.

Thank you kind sir.

I soooooo hope this gets 90+ Metacritic. But I don't think it will at all.

C'mon fam.
When amazing current gen games like Doom (2016), Dishonored 2, Titanfall 2 and Ori and the blind forest, all scored below 90, why is it so important for this game to score so high?
People need to rein it in with their 'need' for super high metascores. Instead hope that the game is loved by as many people as possible so that it gets great word of mouth and maximizes it's sales potential. That, at end of the day will matter more to the developers of this game than a 90+ on Metacritic.

I really should be going to bed, instead I'm eating Jaffa Cakes and having drink. Staying up will do no good.

Meta doesn't matter to me, would be nice for GG to have their first 90 or over score for this gen though. Anything around the 80's should please anyone.

I still can't believe FFXV and Last Guardian both turned out to be great games after months and years of doubt. I think GAF would've lost its mind if either disappointed (or god forbid, both).

Nioh bby.

Wait what the hell am I saying with my Majima avatar.

Yakuza 0 bby.
I'm already torn between Nioh and Yakuza 0 for my early GOTY contenders. But being sold on Horizon's premise since the first trailer along with the previews in here, this shits going to be a tough call by years end.

Looking at the previews and impressions, I think it's obvious Guerrilla has made a really good game in Horizon. And this being their first open world RPG makes me excited for a potential sequel. They have a really good foundation in place now to build upon.

Wow wow wow this city. I feel I stumbled into a different game. The art design here is so impressive, we have a new standard for open world games. So many quests, so many stories. Voice acting is great, the story is damn good.

BTW it's the first time my regular PS4 started to chug a bit. Clearly drop in frame rate but it's understandable as there is SO MUCH going on screen.

Mostly lore and some stuff to trade. There are some major optional stuff which I feel is a necessity cause it's awesome. Those are the cauldrons people talk of.
