How about KH DDD done the Type-0 way?

I guess alot of people detested DDD lol. I liked it. Flowmotion was OP though. Made you feel like a God the whole game. Didn't really mind everything else...

I liked it a lot, but there's still areas that could use some improvement.

Actually never played DDD, even though I love Kingdom Hearts. But I always hoped it coming to the big screen.

- But how many hours of gameplay does DDD offer?
- And how was the gameplay? Would it be much better with a controller.
- How did the game look on the 3DS screen? Better than BBS? Or not so good? Because Squenix did a pretty great job with porting BBS to consoles.
- Is there a lot to improve to make a decent console version?
- Was there a Final Mix version released like all the other Kingdom Hearts games?
- Did the game sell actually well? Good enough to consider a HD port for Square-Enix?

For a run through the main story, about 20-25 hours

I didn't really have a problem with the controls, but a controller would probably be an improvement.

It would probably look on par with Birth By Sleep on a console.

I feel like it has some issues that need smoothing out. As you can see from this topic, flowmotion is a big part of the gameplay that needs improving. The skill acquisition and party member system and the way in which you swap characters are other areas that could use improvement.

There was no final mix version

No idea about sales.

I never played DDD, so I'm saying this from concept and videos I've watched.

But the Flowmotion seems to be one of my favorite things in gameplay. I just love flying all over the place. I'd love to try it out someday.

Also, "done the Type-0 way" would imply CG models for the characters? It could be weird. Type-0 it kinda works because even on the PSP the model quality varies aggressively, but not so much in KH. Also, KH's art style holds up incredibly well, they wouldn't really need better models.

The old maneuvering mechanics were pretty good in KH2(air dash, super glide, etc), but the amount of freedom and control you get with flowmotion is unmatched!

I would love to see them do Type-0 HD style visual upgrades to the renderer/models. It would depend on how they are porting it though. With Type-0 they outsourced it to Hexadrive which has experience in doing ports like this(ie. Wind Waker HD), but with the KH HD remixes so far, they have all been done in-house in Osaka. Also KH3D was made by the Osaka team so it would probably be easier/cheaper to do it all in house. The teaser footage shown in 2.5 HD looks like the visual upgrades are comparable to what we've gotten in prior HD remixes.

I think if they're doing it in house I would rather they do whatever is quickest, and focus most of their staff on KH3.

Whatever's quickest = a cutscene-only release packaged with 1.5+2.5 on PS4/XBO.

20-25 hours, not that long for a KH game I guess. Was there a lot of side quest content?

And that it will look on par with BBS on console is something that I would expect :p But how did it look on 3DS compared to BBS on PSP? Is there more or less work to do a decent HD upgrade.

Still curious on sales, if anyone knows? :) BBS sold quite well, I am guessing DDD has sold better considering it was on 3DS?

I thought it looked on par with BBS. 1.5 actually used Sora's model from DDD, so it might even be less work than some of the other ports, visually at least, there's still a lot of touchscreen features that would have to be changed.

Details on 1.5 ReMIX itself include news that Sora and the other character’s models have been upgraded to those used in Kingdom Hearts 3D.

BBS is 15 hours if you do the story only lol.

The only two big KH games are 1 and 2 (and CoM coming in 3rd).

Also, BBS I know it sold about 2m+, plus whatever the Final Mix sold.

I think DDD sold 1.5m, or maybe less.

But my numbers may be a bit dated.

i keep hearing people say this and i have no idea how people get the impression

Because that is easy money and lets them delay KH3 for another year, specially if it's just a port.

Also, FFXHD is coming, so it's just natural to expect KH too.

I think we asume this due to how the PS4 isn't BC with the PS3 (so people new to the KH series but do not own a PS3 are missing a lot of the story :l), so Square could just up-port the 1.5 and 2.5 collections into a 50-70 dollar bundle for the PS4 and X1 (X1 owners really need this to happen....as none of the games in the KH series have ever landed on Xbox platforms :l).

It would be a plus if the frame rate for the games on a potential PS4/X1 collection is 60FPS but either way, it would be nice to see the KH games on PS4/X1 in the future :).

"When we first came up with the idea for Kingdom Hearts III, it was always 1.5, then 2.5 and we were always thinking about those three titles at the same time," he explains. "I think [putting the games on PS4] is something we’ll explore. We understand what our players want, so we will explore the possibility. I’m not making any announcements though, we can’t make any announcements yet!"

But while Sony gamers would likely appreciate the refresher, with Kingdom Hearts III heading to Xbox One as well as PS4, arguably it's Xbox owners that need the earlier installments of the game more than anyone else. When asked about whether an Xbox One edition of 1.5 and 2.5 could ever see the light of day, Yasue was hesitant. While the initial reasoning behind this was thought to be the initial exclusivity deal with Sony, it seems resources play just as much of a part.

"It’s a big old question," he says. "There’s a lot of things we need to think of when we consider consoles. One of them is what our players want, so we will definitely consider that. But there’s also schedule constraints, as we really don’t want the development of Kingdom Hearts III going later, so we have that to think about. We’ll consider all these things and come to a decision."

PS4 is likely to happen but we will need to wait and see for a xbox version

No not to the Type-0 Art style ir anything. More the production value and scale of the port.

BBS Vol 2 with KH 3D and Chi packaged in?
Wow. I completely forgot about Volume 2. Now that right there...KH 2.9.

So far both KH collections have been stellar, probably some of the better HD remasters out there. DDD being a recent game would look killer handled by HexaDrive. 10/10 Would buy.

It's most likely coming. I can definitely see 1.5 and 2.5 coming to PS4, too. They'll want all of them playable on the same platform as KH3 to make sure players can be up-to-date.

Yeah, so players can understand the story!

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Dream Eaters are the big thing that I think need changing, they'd have to anyway because of how touchscreen dependant they are.

The worst part about Dream Eaters were how the larger sized ones constantly teleported around, somehow had placement priority over the character you're controlling (hope you like getting shoved around randomly by your "allies!") and were constantly disrupting combat and breaking flow by doing a combination of those first two and just plain plain getting in the way of the camera.

I love DDD, but I specifically use the smallest Dream Eaters possible to try to mitigate how "in the way" they get.

I think it will happen at some point considering they're bothering to do Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD - which quite honestly I didn't expect and I don't think they ever really hinted at wanting to do it before hand.

FF X probably has to do with the recognizability of the title (it's second only to VII).

That said, DDD is likely to get ported at some point because that's what SE does now; recycling old properties is their thing.

2015 - Kingdom Hearts I.5+II.5 for PS4
2016 - Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance (comes with KH3 demo) for PS4/XBO
2017 - Kingdom Hearts III

Please no, I dont think I could take that. And people wont want to buy a remastered remastered game without something new to go with it. But then again this is SE we're talking about. It seems the XBO is the one thats the cause of issues. Imo square should just drop xbo for kh - its just not worth it by the looks of it.

Cant see another XIII happening if they did.

Well I did a lot longer with BBS as 15 hours, more like double and I my characters were far from max level.

And ok sales are good enough to bring a HD release, I guess.

Sad by the way that almost no one thinks DDD is a good game, haven't played it, but I always thought it was a pretty fun game. Not as good as BBS, KH1 or KH2. But still pretty fun and a lot better as 358/2 days

Yeah I hate to see it get berated as much as it does because I thought it was a nice parallel to BBS's gameplay. But to each their own I guess.
