Resident Crybaby
I thought it had it's up and downs, but that RE9 troll was legendary and there were at least 3-4 truly incredible looking games shown.

Solid "C" from me.

  • Atomic Heart II was a banger reveal
  • Onimusha continues to look fantastic
  • ILL looks incredible
  • Scott Pilgrim and Mixtape are nice indie adds
  • Lies of P Overture shadow drop was great
  • Release dates for several games like Sonic Racing and ARC Raiders were nice to see
  • Felt That Boxing looks absurd in the best way
  • As said above, the RE9 troll was amazing and the game itself looks stunning

Aside from boobs and ass and UE5 visuals giving the industry a semblance of quality, this is the worst videogame show I can recall.

Not even RE9 could save us from the onslaught of slop.

E at best.

Shoutouts to the puppet boxing game, though.

I'll rate this a B.

I was hovering at a C+ and B- for a while, and that RE Director bait and switch almost dropped it to a C+, but then I saw some cool reveals and then the final reveal also brought it back up.

List of notable games for me:

  • Mortal Shell 2 (Reveal with gameplay)
  • Chronicles Medieval (Teaser)
  • Sonic Racing Crossworlds (Guest character reveal/Minecraft racing/potential for more)
  • Code Vein 2 (Reveal with gameplay)
  • End of Abyss (Reveal with gameplay)
  • Game of Thrones War for Westeros (RTS reveal no gameplay but alternate stories)
  • Atomic Heart 2 (Reveal with in-engine cutscenes shown, open world?)
  • The Cube: Atomic Universe (MMORPG Shooter reveal)
  • Marvel Cosmic Invasion (Reveal with gameplay)
  • Onimusha Way of the Sword (Gameplay showcase)
  • Felt that Boxing (Reveal with gameplay snippet, muppet punchout, and best visuals of show?)
  • Killer Inn (Reveal, 24 player elimination with deduction/deathmatch gameplay)
  • Chrono Odyssey (Gameplay reveal)
  • Mio: Memories in Orbit (Gameplay reveal)
  • Out of Words (Reveal with gameplay)
  • Lego Voyagers (Reveal)
  • Nicktoons and the Dice of Destiny (New ARPG Reveal with gameplay)
  • Lies of P Overture (Shadowdrop)
  • Fractured Blooms (Reveal with gameplay)
  • Seven Deadly Sins Origin (Gameplay reveal)
  • Mina The Hollower (Reveal with gameplay)
  • Deadpool VR (Reveal with gameplay)
  • Dying Light: The Beast (Gameplay and release date reveal)
  • Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree (Reveal with gameplay)
  • Acts of Blood (Gameplay showcase)
  • Scott Pilgrim EX (Reveal with gameplay)
  • First Descent DLC (Reveal)
  • Hitman content in Mindseye (Or Mindseye city in Hitman?)
  • Casino Royale DLC in Hitman
  • Lego Party (Reveal with gameplay snippets, Mario Party-like)
  • Blighted (Reveal with gameplay)
  • ILL (Gameplay reveal, also might be best visuals of show)
  • Infinitesimals (Reveal with gameplay)
  • SF6 New DLC Characters (Reveal)
  • Wu-Tang Rise of the Deceiver (Co-op action RPG Reveal)
  • Into the Unwell (Reveal with gameplay)
  • Stranger Than Heaven (Formerly Project Century, Re-reveal)
  • Resident Evil Requiem (Reveal with in-game cinematics)
On paper this huge list should be an A, but the problem is that there is a lot I omitted that led to the middle-of-the-show lull pacing that SGF suffers from, year after year. Geoff really needs to figure this out.

My favorite reveal was probably Code Vein 2, followed by RE Requiem and Felt That Boxing.

For me, Felt that Boxing, and ILL, tied for best visuals.

Side note 1: I think that open world RE9 rumor was actually Resident Evil Outbreak with 4 player co-op. It would explain the odd "Please stay tuned for more" then later-on reveal of RE 9. It had to be two different games.

Side note 2: Namco had to carry on Square Enix's behalf this year when it came to Japanese RPGs.

E. Saved from the F by the execution of the Resident Evil fake out, even if the gane itself doesn't look like something I'd be interested in.

That RE9 troll was pointless.

It actually pissed me off.

I was going to go E, but that piss poor fake out has forced my hand to F.

Way better than whatever it was that Sony shat out but waaaaay too much talking, just show the games and fuck off.

These are what I'm interested in:
Mortal Shell 2
End of Abyss
Mouse: PI for Hire
GoT: War for Westeros
Atomic Heart 2
The Cube - Atomic Heart spinoff
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Killer Inn
Chrono Odyssey
MIO
LEGO Voyagers
ILL
Stranger Than Heaven
Resident Evil: Requiem

But there were a lot of titles I didn't give two shits about.

That's a C for me. RE9 is a good ending but nothing completely mind blowing.

A few gems here and there bust most of the time, I feel like watching new games that are way too close to already existing ones...

D-

State of Play had my expectations in check. This being a 2 hour showcase my expectations were loftier.

But holy hell, anything good shown was overshadowed by mountains of slop.

Started very strong, but the second half was a total nothingburger, RE9 included.

Bad show overall, but could be worse, C for me

Wish ive used the bandwith for the video stream to downloa Lies o P faster instead.

B for sure. Insane amount of games, super high pacing, cringe levels minimum, some legit bangers.

Also the most amount of tits and ass I have seen in a videogame show in probably a decade.

D.
It's your typical Geoff event.

There's a decent 30ish minutes State of Play style show in there...that gets stretched to oblivion with 90 minutes of pure slop.

No real standout moments but there are a handful of games that look interesting. Atomic Heart 2, RE9, Code Vein 2, End of Abyss, War for Westeros, Wuchang, ILL, Stranger than Heaven, and Mortal Shell 2. Onimusha and Mafia as well, but we knew about those already.

Solid F. Not a single game I was interested in. No FF7R3 reveal/teaster/name. Atomic Heart 1 was an insane disappointment and 2 looks no different.

It had real forced encore energy. Lame.

Absolute fucking horse shit.

The only team to show up was Capcom.

They should have just done their own 20 minute showcase themselves.

This was the worst show i've seen since that genuinely hot shit MS one they did many years ago before it became SGF and streaming. let's say 2015. (I can't remember the exact one, maybe it was 2014)

C

Same as PlayStation SOP, but longer and therefore more games showcased.

Several interesting games, some promising, and few, if any, blockbusters.

You don't need a Geoff SGF for this.

E. It could have been worse but there was only a couple of interesting games and Mina was already shown off years ago.

It also could have been 30 minutes long and still got the same score.

F I harsh.

I voted D but maybe C actually. There is a lot I just have no interest in and Souls-likes are getting really tiring the same way indies got tiring, and everything really.

But there is still plenty others will enjoy.

RGG game looks interesting. And while I probably won't play that puppet game, it looked visually impressive. Maybe an adventure game I'd be more into that Punch Out.
