I just watched the most horrible movie I've ever seen...

Now I'm not talking normal "bad" (as in a horribly acted, low budget piece of crap with a stroy line written by an old TNT tv movie director type bad). I'm talking bad as in the feeling I had while/after watching this movie. It was/is the most horrible feeling I've ever felt EVER felt without something sucky actually happening to me for real. I feel dirty after watching this shit. I feel like life is worthless and I should just go kill myself. I need to go play Super Mario Sunshine or some shit to shake this feeling. Anyway, just a warning for any of you fortunate enough to miss out on this movie so far. STAY AWAY FROM:

Do people actually LIKE watching this type of movie? I mean, yeah it's very well done but fuck I hated it!! =_(

Weaksauce? Ok. I'll take that I guess. I feel crappy. =_(

p.s.- recommend me more movies like this so I can stay the fuck away! lol

Requim has too much dark comedy to be truly depressing. I've watched it with a group of guys and we laughing our asses off. One smart ass coment at the right moment and it can be very funny. The scene were his girl friend turns ho has some golden lines.

maybe the issue here is you didn't really sit down and watch it. how could you with a big group of friends ragging on it? Try watching it some night by yourself. For extra fun make sure your a little depressed at the time.. I see no comedy what so ever in this movie. ESPECIALLY his girl turning into some drug ho. =(

I saw that in school. It's bad, but it can't hold a candle to a chaninese movie called "What Time is it There." Basically what this movie is is thatr the director read a quote to the effect of "Movies are real life with the boring parts taken out," and it inspired him to leave the boring parts in. You'll be watching store fronts for a full 20 seconds before a chaarcter walks in. Simon Cowell couldn't do this movie (in)justice.

Look for Pi (symbol Pi on the box). Great Arnofsky movie.

Blah. Didn't like it much. I think it tried to be too artsy, and that piercing sound near the end of the movie had me cringing. Maybe I was just expecting too much, having heard so many good things about it. Plus, I hate math to begin with so that may have tainted my enjoyment of the film as well.

The first time I saw it I watched it seriously. It was on I think Showcase or IFC one night and some one put it on. Trust me it's has a lot of comedy in there. The bit with his mother and the fridge is hilarious. Plus all the old ladies on the corner. The red neck cops the list goes on and on. The dirty old guy with the "Ass to Ass" line is comedy gold.

It's great, but I didn't feel sad or depressed at all after watching it. It didn't really move me.

I thought requiem for a dream movie adaptation was OK. It however failed to capture the brutal rawness associated with author Hubert Selby Jr.

Would you rather just have everything glazed over with a sugar-coated topping? Hell no. Depressing movies are necessary to remind us of the shitty things we do to ourselves, others, and the place we live in. They add balance. If there was only room for movies with happy endings, it wouldn't be realistic and the view of the world would be quite skewed. Plus, that kind of world would only serve to reinforce power structures.

I watch movies to be entertained, not to be reminded about how shitty life can be. I can look out my window and see that, or turn on the nightly news. I dont mind a depressing ending, its movies like Requiem that are just one horrible event after another. No real plot, just people ruining themselves.

What else can we have on depressing film night?

Sorry, contrived wannabesad stories don't count. That movie was just bad. A far more meaningful and touching WW2 anime movie is Hoshi no Rail / Railway of the Stars.

I'm sorry. I just don't get this "comedy". It wasn't funny at all to me. It was like a horrible nightmare. =(

Grave of the Fireflies is nowhere near as depressing as Requiem for a Dream. Maybe it's because I find it more difficult to connect with anime characters from another country, but I dunno. It's a sad story for sure, but it didn't come close to bringing a weighted depression upon me. Requiem fucking scares you.

I totally agree. I had to play an hours worth of Animal Crossing to get to sleep that night.

Though in all honesty I did enjoy the movie a lot, very thought provoking.

When it comes to movies like that I look at it this way. Was it entertaining. NO. Am I somehow a better person for having seen it. NO. Do I know anything now that I didnt know before I watched it. NO. So whats the point, its depressing as hell but, as far as im concerned, has no value other than that. Its like watching an execution.

Oh yeah, wow. I don't even know what I was thinking during the movie, I didn't have any expectations. At the end, yep, completely speechless.

lol. thats the only movie i've ever seen where I couldn't bare to keep watching it to the end. I want to know what happened but can't get the balls to pop it in my dvd player again. heh. I made it as far as when she got to jail btw... that was all I could take. I was sobbing like a bitch. Not a Zelda- Bitch mind you. A regular one. =_(

"Kids" is pretty good too, and somewhat similar to Requiem. Basketball Diaries is another, though not as good. Any movie that evokes emotion is good in my book.

I thought Pi sucked. Like someone else said, I felt like it was trying to be artsy.

Overated, not depressing at all IMO. I've seen way worse things than that in real life. I never understood why peopel feel so impacted from watching this. I mean I guess I can understand, it may be a bit shocking to some, but overall, weaksauce as stated. If you've lived life, you should be immune to everything in this movie. I'm not bashing you or the movie, I'm just wondering how people get so emotional over it.

Dancer and the last act of House of Sand and Fog manipulated their audience with a convulted plot. Its hard to feel sorry for the character when your yelling at the tv, "WHY the FUCK DID YOU DO THAT?!!". In Requiem its a slow process to self destruction.

I thought you meant bad as in this:

Requiem for a Dream shocked me, in a sense that I watched the movie while I was at my cousin's place in Berkeley. You know, college kids with a college life and house parties and stuff. So I felt being part of that environment, but of course, nowhere near as intense.

Good movie though, the soundtrack was also pretty great from what I remember.

I was pretty disturbed after watching it. But it seemed a bit much at the end with the incessant "bouncy" strings playing in the background.

Yes, I love these type of movies. They provide thought, reflection and actually evoke some real human emotions from me. The characters are real, the whole movie is real and honest.

I just prefer darker movies or imaginative films.
