I think I'm going bald.

Cut it short and eventually shave when it gets bad. My friend got stressed and wore hats and tried all sorts. I'm starting to lose mine and don't really care.

F the drugs, that shits for hipsters, head out to Target & get the clippers. #1 on the sides, #2 on the top, sit back, relax & watch the panties drop.

Caution: Will not work if you have man-tits

The desperate attempts in here to deny hair loss are sad.

If you're lucky it'll just recede and thin on top (that happened to me at 18) and then you could crop your hair really short on the back and sides to match the stunted growth on top.

But if it's that classic horse shoe shape then fully bald is the way to go.

I'm starting to feel this way. Just this recent year I've noticed strands of my hair can be easily plucked and I notice how I'll see a hair in my eyes. I'm kinda down about it.

I need a haircut, but this shouldn't be happening. :(

When I'm reading a book I'll notice one of my bangs lands on the book page.

Sadly, it's one of the perils of manhood. I see it as a right of passage in a way.

I want to kiss my genes on the lips for not being predisposed to going bald. My 60+ year old dad has a head full of hair, my mid-30s brother and I have thick, dense hair. I'm probably fine.

Embrace the buzzed lifestyle OP. I'm sorry for your loss.

makes good threads.
As a fellow baldy my best advice to you is to just shave your head and never look back. Don't fight it, just do it. You'll actually probably end up liking it. If you're able to, grow a beard to help balance things out.

Use your newfound lack of confidence in your physical appearance to vastly compensate for it in your personality, making you grow as a person, leave behind your vanity, and be a much more likable dude overall

Hereditary baldness has got to start somewhere! Maybe you'll be the lucky guy!

Mine started at 22. 24 now and it wasnt as rapid as i thought it was going to be, but i probably got less than 5 years left.

If you have a good barber though, they can literally make that shit almost indistinguishable for a long time and keep you looking good.

So work out and hit up an actual barbershop.

I have to say, i have multiple acquaintances who actually thought the same thing, that nobody would notice.
But in my opinion it really isn't possible to hide past the absolute beginner phase. I mean, don't be that guy with the see-through hairdo, people don't just look at you from the front.

Same thing happened to me this year. (22/23)

My hairline receded a little bit but my hair has thinned out. I still have a full head of hair but its SO FINE.

Told my Doctors and they instantly put me in for a blood test. I'd do the same OP, not everything is MPB. Especially if it doesn't run in your family.

22 here and losing my hair as well. Have been for over a year now.

It sucks but it's a part of life I guess. Once the shock wears off and you accept your fate it's not that big of a deal.

Im speaking strictly short hairstyles here and just the crown/corners. There's nothing you can do if your balding in the back.

I get a low fade, 2 on the top 1 on the sides and back. The hairline is cut back a lot from what it was years ago but its not at a ridiculous point. He blends the corners so it almost looks the same length as the rest.

Sometimes i get a little part put on the right side where its faded the most.

Theres stuff you can do.

I'm early 30s but same for me, my dad is 75 with a thick head of hair still. My hair is still insanely thick :)

I don't know.

I read somewhere that if you're thinning, you have to lose like 30 - 40% of your hair density for it to become noticeable.

I also read that the average rate of hair loss for balding men is about 5% each year (before they reach their final pattern), so that's like 6 - 8 years of thinning before it's see through status.

Meh, it's not that big of a deal. It bothers you more than it bothers others (which it probably isn't even doing.)

As long as you keep it short, and don't do a comb over (Trump style) it should be fine.

I don't even notice that stuff on guys, especially not if they wear nice clothes or have a style that distracts from it.

It depends entirely on the hair loss you have.

I have a receding hairline and diffuse thinning. So I'm losing hair on every area of my head.

I would say I've lost about 40-60% of my hair density in 9.5 months.

I started receding when I was like 22 but it wasn't noticeable at all so I ignored it. When I was 23, I started going on Rogaine and it really worked for a while. My hair was actually really regrowing in my temples and it looked thicker, too. I started to workout on my own and the boost in testosterone really destroyed my hair. The Rogaine became useless and I started losing hair so fast.

Before I was losing hair on my crown, I had my girlfriend buzz my head and I liked it. She seemed to as well. Now, I shave it with a razor. I am fully bald at near 26. I gained 35 pounds of muscle in almost two years but I started doing that for other reasons.

Honestly, when it really comes down to it, shave it. You'll accept that you actually don't have hair. If you keep it, you'll notice the thinning and the losing and you'll feel worse about it. It was bad on my self-esteem for a while. Making sure I looked perfect in certain light, wearing hoods when it was really windy, etc. Fuck that. Shave your head, stand up straight, and realize that you're your biggest critic and you're also your biggest fan. Don't sulk because there's a lot worse stuff out there. People will ask you about why you shaved your head once but then it's over. 2 minutes of uncomfortableness or years of low self-esteem? You pick. I know it's hard, but you're stronger than you think.

Yeah it varies from person to person.

Some people lose it quick, while others take decades.

Is the top noticeably thinner than the sides when you shave it with a #1 guard? If you shave?

I'm thinning out in the front. Like its so strange. I'll have to take a pic of it when I can. I know that for a fact I'm going to have to eventually go completely bald using a razor. I just bump real bad.

Any tips for men of color and shaving the scalp with a razor?

Can we get some pics of those with diffuse thinning rocking a 1 or 2 hair style or a 3-2 on top with a 2-1 fade on the sides?

I want to give it a go but don't want to come out looking like a failed chia pet.

This is complete gibberish to me

I just shaved mine, OP. It was getting silly looking, really thin at the front and a big patch at the back, so I just shaved it down as far as I could.

Now I still look silly, but less silly than before :/

Hair loss honestly sounds like the most terrifying thing in life. I'm sorry OP. Now I feel bad for complaining everyday that my hair is getting way to long and out of control.

Men get the cruelest fate when it comes to hair. If you're in your teens or early 20's and someone tells you to get a haircut. Tell them to fuck off, because you will probably be bald in another ten years anyway. I am in my 30's and I haven't shown signs of going bald. But I do have a few grey hairs.

You can rock gray hairs with style thought so it's not a dead sentence.
