The watermelon thing is stupid as are most of the other historical accuracy complains other than Yasuke being called a samurai.
Personally I don't really care about the historical accuracy that much. The franchise has never been very historically accurate so why should it bother me now.
The forced and out of place DEI though, that's what sucks and makes this an easy skip

If Yasuke was replaced with an Asian character half the hate wouldnt even exist.
The game probably wouldnt have half the attention its gotten on twitter/GAF.
Beyond Yasuke I dont even see that many complaints about the game.
People have been excited to get a more stealth focused AC games and Naoe is one step closer to our SplinterCell dream.
Their [TheGamer] point was people fixating on Yasuke is a cop out, cuz they can blame low sales on Yasuke while in the event the game does well, grifters will just ignore the games "success".
I can guarantee you if the game sales arent 1 billion dollars the sales thread on GAF will be filled with Go Woke, Go Broke posts.

Naoe is better since she’s got full assortment of tactics.
Yasuke is basically a sword slashing OP
meathead with limited climbing who can kick enemies 30 ft AND crash through doors, walls and concrete railings like the berserker in Gears. Looks retarded.
A dumb part of the game was where there’s a tower only naoe can climb or grapple hook up. But that part of the game you can switch characters. Yasuke can’t climb it. So in order to use him at the higher levels of the tower, you use naoe to climb it and then switch characters. Then yasuke shows up at the higher floors. How dumb and disjointed.

I’ve barely watched any preview streamer vids but ones I’ve seen rip it apart. Sketchy fighting, bad AI, that shitty scouting system, etc…. So let’s not get hyperbolic as if nobody has anything bad to say about the game except yasuke.
But getting back to your point it’s a game based in Japan a long time ago. To have it be played out as half black guy/half Japanese woman is pretty stupid.
No different than if a game based in the Caribbean had a lead character being Chinese.

So you agree that the main issue you and your ilk have with AC:Shadows is that Yasuke is Black and/or that the other protagonist is female? (Thus woke and DEI slop)
Cuz when a "woke" game succeeds, people shut the fuck up about it being woke or come up with some random reasons why it isnt in your face woke (see Baldurs Gate 3 or HiFi Rush or any number of other "woke" games that just so happen to also be good games).
When a game is "woke" and fails it failed because it was woke, if it succeeds we dont talk about its wokeness.
Some times a game just fails.
Dustborn was a bad game, whether it was woke or not is irrelevent, the game was bad, combat was bad, dialogue was laughable, the story was nonsensical.....no matter how unwoke you made the game if the gameplay was the same this game was gonna be shit.

I never played hifi rush but that’s a woke game? Didn’t know that. Not a great example to use since sales were lousy and the studio got shut down (until it was bought out by Krafton)

Cuz the scouting system has been changed from having the drone bird bringing back the actual need to scout....a postive.
The combat is an evolved version of Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla, if you didnt like those combat systems you wont like this, but the combat ive seen looks awesome.
The stealth is closer to pre-Origins Assassins Creed something fans had asked for.
If ive hear anything bad about the stealth system is that it isnt actually hard or open enough.
Hidden blade is leveled again, something fans have disliked but its a balancing issue, the hidden blade was too OP when it could oneshot anyone.

The crux of it is that people blame game failures on whether they are woke/DEI or not, in this case the AC: Shadows is woke/DEI because one of the protagonists, who you dont have to play is Black.

Careful not to put words in other mouths. If this argument held water, Ubisoft would not be reacting the way they are right now. Try not to rewrite history by the drawing this false narrative. Yasuke has never the issue, it's the way how he was implemented, same with that trans character of Veilguard. They weren't there to expand on the world but to lecture directly to the player.
Once again, this is exactly how the we end up having the DEI / Gamergate 2.0 controversy. You chose very well receptive games as the baseline for ALL "Woke" games. This clearly an argument of bad faith, Assassin's Creed: Shadows, with all that has been revealed do not belong to the same category. So was Veilguard and Concord and equating them to BG3 and Hi-Fi Rush is just insult to the talent that made them.
It's amazing how you can separate the "woke" from bad when game design in general it is clearly the motivation driving it. BG3 has '"woke" elements is not the same thing as building the game from it. If you cannot see the difference then there is no argument here it's clear which side of gaming you align to.
