If you question the historical accuracy of AC shadows or the black samurai, you are a hidden racist, according to TheGamer

People play AC for historical accuracy?

I could've sworn I was fighting medusa in a recent AC lmao...
Historical settings was what drew many people to the series in the first place. You could go back to various time periods, learn about ancient cities, landmarks and cultures, heck even start a historical tour. The game also used to try to be accurate with the equipment you can use. At the same time you were reminded that it's only a game through Animus bits or stuff related to Apples of Eden and how it could influence important historical characters & events.

The problem here is that the series never had a protagonist that would be such a bad fit for the setting, completely breaking any immersion. And sure, some historical characters were "modified" for the purpose of AC games and for example you could have Leonardo as your gadget guy in the Ezio games (or kill the Pope). They were never protagonists though and their history was never written from scratch, while also trying to convince everyone that Yasuke was a samurai in recorded history as well (and making changes to wikipedia pages to make that more believable).

As for supernatural elements / creatures, I'm not a fan of adding them in the newer AC games, but they've been mostly a part of DLC content or at least optional quests. You didn't have to fight them in the main story.

I just don't think grabbing the most obscure character was a good idea. Ac fans asking for a Japanese setting for years, the easiest layup in the world to make a badass Japanese character samurai and they throw out yasuke... Is so ballzy, especially after their shit track record lately.

Thought I'd log in for the first time in forever to comment.

I'm personally looking forward to AC:Shadows, the gameplay looks like a great improvement from other games.

It's incredibly sad/odd how much hatred for this game people has built up, why did non off the other AC games not get hate for the fiction/historical inaccuracies?

You would think the prior games were shining beacons of historical accuracy with the amount of hate shadows is getting....

Anyway, I think people need to focus more on the games they like and are actually interested in, rather than sitting online all the time, being miserable and telling everyone they must hate X or y game, honestly it killed my desire to log in and engage with neogaf and I use to absolutely love this place.

No shade at any of the users I did enjoy engaging with though, they are still awesome. 💪

Anyway I'm off to carry on enjoying the awesome La Noire, surprised it took me this long to get round too it! :)
Can you point to a poster saying everybody SHOULD HATE this game ? ... if you do not want to see different point of views and opinions than yours.... yes you should stay logged out of neogaf ... if you want safe echochambers there are other foruns to be.. but Im pretty sure you know about them.
