Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
The trailer they showed at TGA.
I think you forgot about one more game....I would go one step further and say that this is probably top-5 best licensed property games of all time, which (for me) includes the likes of Arkham Asylum, Chronicles of Riddick, Knights of the Old Republic and Goldeneye.
The takedown only happens if indy raises the weapon, if that doesn't happen then you're not in takedown position. The combat and stealth takedowns is something I'm struggling to get used to, like I'd sneak up behind a guard with a club, ready to take them down, press RT, and Indy would just hit them normally? Am I getting something wrong here?

you can, i just got the option todayJust arrived in the third area. Probably missed collectibles in the two areas before so I hope i can go back and explore.
Still loving it.
Use medium with 10gb vram. I use low on my 8gb, but sometimes when i start the game it runs at 40 fps. I need to change DLSS to TAA and back to DLSS fix it. Weird issueI just finished vatican. What a great game. Really liking it and indeed it does feel like riddick in some parts.
I love hove stupid the combat is. Your fists are like lightning strikes. so much fun!
Graphics are great too. Even without PT.
One thing... textures pool on high, everything else maxed out, 4k, balanced dlss... and I get these 10-15 seconds long pauses. It's really annoying. Mostly during cutscenes.
I don't get it what kind of programming is that. 10gb vram is not that bad, game runs 80fps for me... so instead of handling it some better way, they freeze the game when it overflows
Makes sense. Dlss consumes more vramUse medium with 10gb vram. I use low on my 8gb, but sometimes when i start the game it runs at 40 fps. I need to change DLSS to TAA and back to DLSS fix it. Weird issue
ID Tech is such a wonderful engine.
I was also conflicted about which view it should use earlier.I finally had the time to boot this up and I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would. I still wish there was a third person view option but I'm getting used to the first person the more I play.
Yeah it’s brilliant in so many ways, my GOTY right now, what an ending of the year. Astro Bot already stomped past everything else and then came Stalker 2 and did the same and I really thought it couldn’t be topped. Then came Indiana Jones. I expected a lot being a big Indy fan but it’s better than expected. Doesn’t happen often. The map layout is among the best I can remember outside of Metroidvanias, it’s so carefully planned, areas are closed off and then opened and it’s vertical and there are alternate routes and it’s open while still being so story-focused. Superb.Exploring the Vatican. There really is nothing else out there that replaces this. No one is making games that feel this way, with this much slow and deliberately careful exploration. Really does remind me of Forgotten City. Game is fantastic.

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned much here is just how blazing fast the game loads. The title screen already immediately loads you into the last place you saved at.
Fast travel in the same map is instant but also fast travel to completely other locations in the world, the screen goes black and then comes back in 1 to 2 seconds without any loading prompts.
ID Tech is such a wonderful engine.
I've noticed this as well. Sometimes you get a cool tool specific take-down, sometimes its basically just a regular hit. Not sure if it's tied to the guard having something like a helmet, noticing you right before you strike, or being crouched versus standing and charging RT. Fortunately the game (so far for me) isn't that punishing of a botched take-down to where it would immediately lead to my demise. That there are no "you were spotted...fade to black and ty again" moments is a HUGE plus for me in this game, you just gotta roll with mistakes and sometimes you win
I also think yet another game was forgotten: Guardians of the Galaxy...I think you forgot about one more game....
Also, the Vatican is SO PACKED with stuff it's unbelievable. At first you look at the map and think - well. that's not that big and then it hits you like a train when you start exploring. It's so much like Dishonored or Deus Ex in terms of level design, there are so many ways you can get into where you need to go, so much verticality and hidden stuff everywhere, locked doors you need to find the keys for, locked doors you can only unlock from the other side, various puzzles etc.
Now, this being good and all in terms of how well it's made, written and such, I think it's just kills pacing at the beginning of the game and you're spending way too much time doing all this shit and I think it could've been much better if some of this stuff got unlocked gradually overtime after you do some mission and go back, but as it is now, there's just too much of it and literally nothing interesting story-wise is happening.
You're goddamn right (c)I also think yet another game was forgotten: Guardians of the Galaxy...
the book of enoch is so fascinatingFinished this last night. I loved this game, and the story was great and I liked how it went back to Hebrew mythology and apocrypha.
I do think the end felt a bit rushed and lacking in denouement and I have a theory that they changed it later in development.
The Ziggurat of Ur, where the last stage takes place, is believed by many to be the site the Tower of Babel story is based on. Which feels like the logical culmination of the story which references the Adamic language and all that. But they never mention that at all. I wonder if they swapped in the Ark angle later.
That's Indiana on the left.
