Indiana Jones and the Great Circle |OT| Fortune and Glory, kid. Fortune and Glory.

if they do a sequel they should do it as a stand alone story in the spirit of temple of doom, with minimal nazis/europe shit. They could use indiana jones and the fate of atlantis or indiana jones and the monkey king, or something that takes place in like west africa as inspiration

The game set after the second movie?

I watched them as a kid and remember almost nothing, i want to watch only the movies set before the game, will watch the rest after finishing playing.

It’s the year after Raiders.

Doom is 1935
Raiders is 1936
This is 1937

Oh Doom is a prequel, ok nice, so you can say it's set after both the two first films, will watch them before playing, and later on the rest, want to be fresh and while it could be fun to see how they created things similar to the movies, i prefer not to see spoilers. Thanks mate :)

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

I think if you watch the movies, you'll have a better understanding of the easter eggs they might have there. The first 3 movies at least.

It’s hilarious but this game is more woke than people pretend Dial of Destiny is.

I never really understood what was the big woke about Dial of Destiny, was it phoebe waller-bridge existing?

(movie spoilers below)

The only thing that remotely comes close is
her knocking Indy out near the end but that's just so he doesn't create a time paradox. She doesn't really do that much more that Marion didn't already

Other than that
Killing off Mutt off-screen was probably better. No one wants to see Shaya's character again.

It’s mostly based on a fake plot made up by a masked Nazi on YouTube where Indy dies in the past and Helena replaces him. A lot of people didn’t watch the movie and believe that was the plot.

And the punch complaint is stupid because she’s literally crying about how amazing Indy is and how much he’s needed before it happens.

Announcement Trailer vs final game comparison.

Model looks about the same, maybe final looks better because of direct feed vs YT, looks more like Harrison.

The ground / dirt texture in the final game looks higher quality than the trailer.

Just finished that part. It keeps getting better. The story too.

Just finished Egypt

It’s scary how well they got some of Ford’s mannerisms down in the cut scenes.

As said in another thread:

First impressions - Nostalgia overload! Aching face from all the smiling at how it starts 🥲🥰 This game is made by fans!! 👌

Like holy crap this is so good from a fan perspective, they’ve literally recreated the start of the movie!

I’m currently at the vatican wacking fascists in the head with rakes and shovels lol
Love that you can pick so many things for use in fights. It’s all very Indy!

Whip works great, both in fights and for traversal, super 👌

And Troy Baker IS Indy! How have they even done that?? Must be AI, there is no way he can sound that close to Harrison Ford. Absolutely top notch voice acting. Geoff needs to cancel TGA and move it into 2025 so Troy can get an award! Seriously, nothing tops this.

Some negatives: The climbing is waaay too slow, feels like like controlling 80yo Indy at those points. Biggest low for me. And highlighted items makes exploration too easy, you can see that you can pick up a book from the other side of the room. Don’t treat my nearly 50yo ass like a kid please.
I do love how Indy said ”I knew that…” when getting puzzle hints though lmao that was perfect

Also, framerate goes up and down at Supreme settings on a 4090 at 1440p, but looks smooth enough at most times.

PC gamers: Are you playing with mouse and keyboard or controller?
At the start on Steam they said I should pick up a controller so I did that but has been going back and forth a bit. Stealth is better with controller. Some other things as well. But aiming with a stick will forever suck imo.
Why does it say that it’s got partly controller support? Works as it should.

really glad to see the game doing well. hoping this continues to motivate developers to target family audiences, & not just the rest of us. kids/teens need some good, 'fun' games...

Just wanted to add. Having a proper family magical experience with this game.

Me and my 12 year old daughter watched the first 3 movies last year as she was interested in films I really enjoyed growing up.

She's been sat with me the whole time helping me do puzzles and loving it as well.

This experience is definitely hightening my experience with the game, as you can imagine.

The pace and walking around looking for things is keeping her far more involved than just fighting dudes.

The atmosphere when you first go under the vatican and it's pitched black. On a large oled with surround sound.

Awesome. Good to have a great Indy product in 2024.

Absolutely loving this so far. Played through the first area with a big cheesy grin throughout, it's a surprisingly funny game. Got massive Sapienza (from Hitman) vibes from this area, it just kept going and going with more and more to explore. Anyone else finding the second area a noticeable step up in challenge though? Things are generally harder to find, money is scarcer, and the enemies are tougher.

I've not even got passed the vatican yet and I literally played for aorund 10 hours haha. I think I'm at the end though. Just trying to mop up every mission and side quest before moving on.

The soldier confessing was brilliant. Ive got a cheesy grin the whole time. They nailed it. Nailed Indy to a T

Just for balance, things I don't like -

Sometimes it's too damn dark to read the notes and letters you find. I had to go outside into the sun to read one and if I don;t like doing that in real life then I certainly don't like doing it in a game. Realistic? Yeah. But also a but annoying.

When characters are talking to you outside of a cutscene they don't track your location with their head movements so they can just be stood there talking to nothing.

Edit - Plus Indy just eats whole lemons like that's a normal thing to do.

Can anyone with Game Pass confirm or deny it's playable now? My son saw it was playable December 8th.
(but he's sleeping at the moment)

Alfred Molina looks strange in the Game.
I think his character model looks pretty good considering it was most likely done "by hand" rather than some how travelling back in time 40+ years and getting photogrammetry data from the actor.
Same with Marcus Brody/Denholm Elliot's likeness.

So does it start out with the Raiders homage? I wanna play this on the TV, and I think that might get my wife on board.

This is such a funny game. They totally nailed the Indy banter and especially the clumsy slapstickness of his fights.

My one gripe if that there's not been anything as terrifying as the bits in the films yet. Well apart from all the catholic priests.

Gina is a great character so far, and Nawal too. All the best bits of his previous sidekicks rolled into one. Well-written, strong, female characters, in a game, in 2024 <gasp>.

It’s set the year before Raiders but relies on you on seeing Raiders to get one gag in it.

So is it better to watch them in the release order?

I remember almost nothing about the movies and I intend to watch them before playing the game. I was going to do in chronological order.

So I had my first bummer moment at the end of yesterdays session.

I’m still at the Vatican and the chick just got introduced. I’m supposed to go see Antonio your priest buddy, but instead I said fuck that and continued to wander around exploring. Came upon this pretty big puzzle involving a fountain. I’m solving away at it and hit a point where the chick suddenly pops up to help, in different attire.

We solve the puzzle, and move forward completely bypassing whatever important story beat and info dump occurred by visiting Antonio. So now a couple of things are being referenced and I have no idea what they’re talking about 😒

I mean that’s cool and all you’re able to jump around like that, but maybe gatekeep the ability to bypass story cutscenes? At least on a first run? I dunno, it seemed way off to me to be able to do that still relatively early on.
