uhm... so they apparently don't know how the "texture pool" setting in Id Tech works.
basically, between low and ultra you basically don't see much of a difference. only in rare instances. but setting it to the highest setting will kill your performance on low vram cards because it will fill the VRAM even if it's not necessarily needed

meaning, if they put the texture pool setting down to medium or something on those low VRAM cards, they would shoot up in performance with either only a tiny or even no perceptible visual difference.

This is going to be an interesting test on PS5 sales wise, since it seems like a game that would fit really well with the audience. I expect this game will sell a lot of units on PS5.
Ehh it'll probably sell something like 1-2M on PS5.

Standards are higher over there. Not gonna tell people not to enjoy the game, but I don't see any appeal whatsoever. It's a subpar game with good lighting.🤷🏾‍♂️

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Thank you, you made the same points in the other thread as well, we've heard it before.

Spider-Man 2 is proof that that's not true lol. "follow on-screen instruction simulator" should be a new genre term for games like that.
Spiderman 2 is actually proof that standards are higher on PS5, because it's production-value shits all over Indiana.

Someone should for fun make a gif of Indy pulling a chain in one of the first tombs, hanging on a ledge and moving to the side, or the flames in that tomb, or a fist fight with that Locus guy.

That's PS3-level. 🤷🏾‍♂️

But like I said, if people are enjoying themselves, I'm not going to say they shouldn't. That's subjective.

lol no chance. it will be old news by the time it hits PS5. the hype cycle will have moved on to something else

Don't think so. It's Indiana Jones and it seems like a good game. It will do solid numbers on PS5.

If this was Deathloop or something releasing later, sure. I expect this to sell better on PS5 than it does on Xbox even though it's later (sure, also take into account GP effect and all that, but still)

If you like uncharted and adventure games....? I mean that's many PS fans bread and butter.

I think 2 million + sales is good for a later release.
2M is laughable for a high profile game.
But I also thought Stellar Blade and Astro sales were mediocre.

And like I said above, I don't think the quality is there.
But I could be wrong (about the potential sales).

what are you guys on about. just an asinine take

I don't think it's that laughable, the game didn't have an insane budget and it's launching later. I don't think either Astro or Stellar's sales were mediocre, they were also not huge AAAA bid budget games.

If it sells 2M on PS5 that's like $100M in revenue, which is probably pretty close to what it cost to make

Looking at the meta critic reviewers for this game, wtf is up with all these Jabroni outlets propping up the meta score? I haven’t even heard of like half of these outlets before. Very little traditional media has put up a review, it’s fucking wild.
Huh? All the big outlets have reviewed it very well from what I see - like mostly 9’s

We'll see. The Indiana Jones IP is as cold as a dead body to the average person. This is a vanity project for big dick Todd Howard and nothing more. He's a mega fanboy.

I think the Indy IP is dead because the modern films are garbage. At the very least, this game seems to play it much safer to the roots.

Still tons of people that love Indy and want a new game.

I meant that sales for both games were mediocre, not the games themselves.

Quality-wise, both Astro and Stellar Blade are a league above Indy from what I'm seeing.

Again, standards are higher on PS5.

Sure, but for a high profile game, it's low.

Most of the traditional outlets are showing up under PC rather than Xbox.

Interesting, both Series S and X have a single 60fps mode, no Quality or Performance toggles.

The video glosses over the Widescreen option, wonder what the other choice is. Ultra wide screen or a classic 4 : 3.

this seems like a completely different kind of game than those - people are saying more like forgotten city

it's a real take that I am 100% serious about. Spider-Man 2 is literally just "on screen prompt" the game for 80% of the missions, the other 20% is mediocre stealth or combat
Just for fun, I'd love to see someone make a gif of Indy pulling down a chain in one of the first tombs, or the flames in that environment or a fist fight with that Locus guy.

No idea how to do it myself, otherwise I would've.

It's laughably bad.

I was expecting somewhere around 84. Game looks solid. Just preloaded it on GP PC and will take it for a spin when it unlocks.

Hnnnng FOMO is kicking in, they know what they’re doing with the early release more expensive version… Steam Advanced Access and I can play over the weekend.

Nice reviews, seems to hit all the right notes from a fan perspective.Great to hear that the voice acting is good, Harrison Ford has such a unique voice so can’t be easy to get that right. Is it all Troy Baker or some AI sound tweaking as well?

5 hours in and I’m soooo conflicted. I do think this game is my shit 100%. It’s basically Lucas Arts adventure game but with way bigger scope and in 1st person.

But I also do think that press is overselling the game and general public will be displeased because some crucial things are executed pretty sloppy. Especially the stealth and the fights.

Honestly, I have a feeling it will perform on par with Alan Wake 2 in terms of general reception and sales.

I'd hope it was just him, but no idea

Just skimming through some video reviews and holy shit that man either has range or there is some audio manipulation trickery going on. His young Indy is extremely good.

I'm about 2-3 hours into the game, up to the part where Indy meets the priest. I'm playing on the recommended "Moderate" difficulty (there's one easier difficulty and two harder), and once I got the hang of the controls, combat has been pretty easy so far, which is fine with me, but for those who want more challenge, you'll definitely want to go with one of the higher ones. When I play a Bethesda game, I'm always stealthing, so doing that in this game is right up my alley, I also like to take my time and explore everything, so I'm glad it's letting me go at a relaxed pace. With the puzzles thrown in, this game kind of reminds me of a 3D first-person version of the old Lucasarts point-and-click Indiana Jones games (Last Crusade and Fate of Atlantis), and since I love those games, I'm really enjoying my time so far. I'm playing on Series X and I think the graphics look great, the only blemish is that the framerate takes a hit during cut scenes whenever there's a cut, hopefully they'll put a patch out for that. I like what I've seen so far that I'd like to get a physical copy; I know the Xbox physical is incomplete, so hopefully they'll put out a physical for PS5 and have it complete on disc. I'll also be curious to compare it between the two.

Wow, I forgot this was even coming out but those scores are really good.

All I remember is the first gameplay footage and it looked basic. Need to check out more after seeing this.

I dunno about you, but I get all my reviews from Hey Poor Player and But why tho?. Also, why are there just 65 critic reviews on Opencritic. This reviewer cherry picking needs to stop

Wow. Am I really about to buy a game I’ll be getting for „free” on Monday?
Nbc Click GIF by New Amsterdam
Same here lol
It’s about paying $100 and play during the weekend or get it free and play after the weekend, or probably next weekend with work and all.
I always add the GP games into Steam so I would also get playtime logged in Steam, and achievements.
But, $100…
