True except not all the Wolfenstein games were "super well received".

The coop spinoff designed for MTX that completely went off-rail with the franchise?

Could be Topher, could be. I think that was a lesson learned and the remnants of Bethesda chasing online money with projects like Fallout 76, Red fall, etc. It's very much that era of trying too hard to capture early GAAS and falling flat on their face.

But I mean so far, Indiana Jones seems to be on-rail with what I would expect their single player to be. It's Riddick/thief in all impressions, a dash of Hitman disguises.

Let's see tomorrow.

Like I said, I hope so. Troy Baker does an awesome job with Harrison Ford's voice. If they can capture that old Indy movie magic then that's going to be awesome.

Not every game has to be a third person over the shoulder game where your AI companion explains puzzles to you like you’re an idiot in between slow walking and talking scenes.

You sure about that?

Knowing Lombardi will be helping Jones with beating down fascists as well as solving Indiana Jones and The Great Circle's puzzles also paints her as being capable as a fighter, something that could mean that Lombardi will be able to more than keep pace with the legendary archaeologist.

There is no shortage of either. Personally I think Tomb Raider and Uncharted provided the best template for an Indiana Jones action adventure game. Machine Game made it clear that they made Indy first person because that is what they know.

But it could be fine. We will see
I mean the only non-multiplayer shooter game I know of thats an fps that released this year was stalker 2: dragons dogma, final fantasy, black myth wukong, hellblade 2, helldivers, astrobot, silent hill - first person is a clearly more rare perspective from what I’ve played, unless it’s a straight up shooter.

I just don’t think there’s you should do another uncharted or tomb raider - they did Indiana jones as good as you could do it in that style - better to go in another direction entirely imo

Fair enough

It is a divisive topic like James Sawyer Ford James Sawyer Ford said. Could be the game surprises me. I'll be more than happy to say I was wrong if we get a kick ass game.

The game should be in high 80s, imo. First person will probably not be as big an issue as people are making it to be. The jumps to third person might affect the score though.

I expect mostly 9/10, with Xbox sites giving a 10 and few edge cases giving 8 or 7 bringing to score down( as is the case with most games). Good game, makes you feel like Indiana Jones.

It’s on GP, as a big Indy fan I’ll make up my own mind here, expecting 9/10, higher if I’m not annoyed at the voice acting.

Karen Baloney more than equal to Jones!

Western nostalgia for Indy will push it to low-mid 80’s, but the general reception will be divisive. Say what you will, but they should’ve dedicate the game to a single perspective fully.

I think it will score around 80-85%. Looks good for an Xbox published game and could well be the console's first truly great game after a disappointing run so far as I thought both Starfield and Forza Motorsports were hugely underwhelming.

I do wish this game had been third-person though as the transitions from first-person to third-person when using the whip to swing across gaps as seen in one gameplay sequence is jarring. Perhaps the developers wanted to differentiate this game from the Uncharted series? Or maybe it's because they specialise in first-person shooters and don't know how to do third-person games properly? Still, it's a shame that a game based on such an iconic character and which uses Harrison Ford's likeness so well is restricted only to seeing the character model in cutscenes... oh and while swinging across gaps!

If the game is good then I will buy it on Steam for PC. I cancelled my GamePass Ultimate subscription months ago due to a lack of compelling games on either Xbox Series X or PC and have no interest in ever re-subscribing, especially as the Xbox app is still pretty dreadful on PC. A game might work and then it doesn't after an update meaning I have to uninstall and redownload it since there is no way to properly verify the files like with Steam. Doesn't happen all the time, true, but it happened often enough that I just ended up buying the game on Steam instead where predictably it works flawlessly even after updates. Go figure. Considering how buggy Windows 11 is on PC then it doesn't surprise me one bit that the Xbox app is just the same even after all these years.

We need new types of games with new perspectives. First person view is welcome.

I will criticise it if it doesn’t feel good to play after giving it a fair shot. Given Machine Games pedigree I doubt that.

Despite the first person view approach this game seems to be quite different from FPS, I'm warmly optimistic about it and very interested

They could have really done it well. 3rd person that zooms in to a tighter shot for whipping and fighting, but they’ve decided they know best.

Can’t help but feel everyone will dislike the 1st person view and they will have shot themselves in the foot despite hearing feedback from the first gameplay reveal. Low 80’s

I for the life of me don't understand why you would pay for the indiana jones license and then decide to make a first person indiana jones game. I also don't understand why they're making this a stealth game it seems when it should be an action/adventure game. I predict that the game will be around an 86 tbh.
