Is it common to make big multi-topping sandwiches in the US?

I didn't even realize that my breakfasts are so Scandinavian. I'd feel right at home up there. My usual breakfast consists of some yoghurt and bread with cheese and/or ham, like this:

I also often eat buns instead of bread:

Looks delicious

I'll make some regular plain-ass Scandinavian butter/cheese sandwiches today and post pictures for ya'll.

How would they be any different than the various struggwiches ITT?

I'm sure they're delicious, but they're not the end-all be-all of sandwiches their proponents make them out to be. Like a sandwich is a vehicle for the delivery of ingredients, this thread is a vehicle for the delivery of weird anti-Americanism.

Nothing anti-Americanism about this thread. Everything is said in jest.

No, I'm quite confident that the ridiculous statements that you can't get good bread or varieties of cheese in America were coming from ignorance, not comedy.

I think that type of talk just derails the conversation and thread, actually. No one in their right mind takes that type of talk seriously anyways.

I could really go for a panini right now:

LTTP on this thread.

Was inspired to make an american version of the euro sandwich. I did not have any butter but zapping it in the microwave for ten seconds loosened it all up.

Wrong cheese, wrong bread, wrong cooking method. Geez did you learn nothing in this thread?

Simple, yet sophisticated. This really brings a dash of adventure to the bread/cheese sandwich genre that so few are willing to take. I can only imagine how well this would go with a nice glass of Carlo Rossi or Mad Dog.

I can't tell if the plastic wrapping is still on the cheese.

I'd pay you $30 for that.

Nice try sarcastic American. A real European would have used "mum"

Shiny American cheese melts better than any European cheese. Have you ever had delicious European queso? no. Their cheese isn't melty enough

There are plenty of melty cheezes over here, what is this? Kraft singles aint, isnt cheese!

"mom, MOOOOOOOM, there are some euros on gaf saying that our cheese is shitty, why are they being so ANTI-AMERICAN???"

"shush don't pay any attention to them, they are just being jelly because they are struggling and poor. Now go clap your hands son because we're having burgers with FREEDOM CHEESE for dinner".

*claps*

American cheese is weak as fuck. Defending it does nothing but cede the culinary high ground to euro gaf.

It's not even cheese. It's "cheese food" or something.

There's an actual "American Cheese" that's not bad. This yellow nonsense is different. Mostly oil and shit.

I've had really good "sharp american" before, and it's actually real cheese. It's very close to a cheddar.

Even run of the mill american cheese can be decent, it's not all goopy kraft singles.

Do other countries not have really cheap, bad quality "cheese" like Kraft Singles? The overreactions from people outside the US to American "Cheese" is always pretty funny.

That's now how these threads work. Someone finds the worst, silliest example of something that exists in America and then makes a post about "DO ALL AMERICANS DO THIS LOL???"

Every hamburger is mcdonalds and every american beer is coors light.

Are you saying this thread is more culturally ignorant of the US than it is of Europe? Because it sure isn't!

Likewise for our dog.

Unfortunately, he's smart and eats everything but the pill.

Trick I pull with my cat is to set it down, then grab it out from under him when he's about to try to lick it to death and ignore the pill.. then I set it down again, and then act like I'm gonna grab it again.. he eats it right up.

So today we had some classic Swedish hot sandwiches. Cheese and ham on white sea salt bread. Served with delicious broccoli soup. It always feels weird to have sandwiches as an actual meal as opposed to a tiny snack, but it's nice for some variety.

How is it not?

And you're public enemy #1!

I'm pretty sure there are way more Americans being incredulous at the concept of breakfast sandwiches than Europeans insulting American cuisine.

Yeah, I think every country has some kind of cheap induvidually wrapped cheeselike product like that.

Why would we be incredulous at something we have all across the US?

Yeah, I think every country has some kind of cheap induvidually wrapped cheeselike product like that.

In Kuwait - there was no cheap wrapped cheese-like product. We had a wide variety of brands and they were all very well priced.

After looking through this thread - I realised I am closer to EU-gaf when it comes to sandwiches.

Butter & Cheese on bread for life.

No American is astounded by the idea of a breakfast sandwich.

Calling a bit of bread with some toppings a sandwich has been met with amusement, but the dish itself is nothing bizarre to americans.

Are you really reading the same thread I am?
