Is there ever a good reason to beat somebody up?

I'm seeing a lot of clearly legitimate reasons to clean someone's clock, how about something more ambiguous?

If someone spat in your face, would you throw a punch? It's harmless technically, but damn that calls for an ass-whooping.

I feel bad for what I'm thinking but if some scumbag spat in my face...Lord forgive me.

Some dude stole my wifi adapter out of my window, I knocked on his door, asked for it back. He refused, I said lets go outside.

I hit him in the jaw, I feel it shift...sprain my thumb....he goes inside grabs a knife. I nope out of there. But after, his GF gave me the wifi adapter back. Said, we don't want anymore trouble...woke up in the morning for work and heard the guy talking funny from outside.

Drunk guy, friend brings him a long. Thinks he can try to force his way into the bathroom while my GF back then was taking a shower. Door is locked btw, I realize he is drunk, I move him to the living room.

He is just being aggressive, so everyone at this point wants him the fuck out of the house, my friend looks at me with pleading eyes, that say. "please come with me, this guy is crazy" I go with my friend, before drunk dude can get in the car, he takes a swing at my buddy, I had enough, gave him a right hook. He went down, I folded him into the car, we dump him somewhere. (He was still alive lol)

Think I saw this on the news. They still looking for the killer..

I think if two people want to throw down then it's kinda okay. Obviously there are better ways to solve problems, but if both people square up then they're putting themselves in that situation so whatever.

Otherwise no. I totally understand the feeling of wanting to, but if you're an adult you shouldn't be straight up physically attacking people unless you're defending yourself/someone else.

I am not a violent guy but there was a guy who worked very closely with my daughter when she was 2 who got jailed for possession of child pornography. He is now under police protection and it's unlikely I'll see him ever again but just thinking about that asshole makes me feel angry and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to stop myself from doing something stupid if I ever came into contact with him.

So...yes

honestly, im pretty calm, but i have and would go in on someone that intentionally spit on me. fuck that bullshit

Not Namor you didn't. Not without cheating.

namor started it. alls fair in love and war breh

Ah, the old Nazi argument. What's that called again?

Eh, I think Godwin's Law is more about someone saying that they prefer Cookies to Muffins and you replying "Oh yeah? HITLER liked cookies!" When talking about violence as a tool to solve a problem, Nazi Germany is actually a pretty useful case study.

Some people just don't learn from their mistakes even when being beaten within an inch of their life. At that point, it's just better to just let them reflect their mistakes 6 ft under.

Nope.
Or well it could maybe be self defense without someone actually doing anything physical. But that is stretching it.

From the worst way to be dumped thread.

I once had the best friend of my gf in high school walk up to me and tell me "hey, I'm sorry but *gf name* doesn't want to be with you anymore. She couldn't tell you because she felt upset" then she walked off.

Cut to me then ignoring my now ex until 2 years later.

When I asked her about it, she seemed confused and asked me why I just stopped talking to her one day.

Cut to me talking to her 'best friend' and being told by her "oh yeah, I was jealous of you guys so I broke you up. Sorry."

I was furious.

That's a good reason to beat somebody up.

That's not really ambiguous. Spitting in someone's face is the same as slapping them. You know full well what the reaction will be if you do either.

Something ambiguous would be...would you punch someone if they bumped into you causing you to fall down or spill your drink or damage your property (phone, tablet, etc) and they are unapologetic and actually blame you for the incident.

If someone would attack or physically harm my dogs or family I'd have no problems to beat them up.

yes absolutely

their are combinations of words that will anger me enough to hit someone regardless of the place

It's there.

There
Their
They're

cmon.

Beyond self-defense, absolutely not. And seeing as the OP clearly states nothing physical was done to you or someone you care about, there's no ambiguity there.

What if they spat at your feet?

I'd probably throw the rest of the drink on them.

If I had a child and you hit my child purposefully.

95% chance my car key will be in your eye.

Yooo when I was a kid, my family and I were shopping at wingo and this couple preceded to spit at my father and called him a "Dirty Spic" because we were being loud and taking up aisle space. My pops ignored it until they hit my little brother in the back of the head with a grocery cart.... Pops lifted the dude up by his neck and slammed him on the ground and punched his face a few times. luckily, we stopped him in his rage.

I hope he beat himself up, because the only real mistake made there was not asking the girlfriend in question what was up. What an idiot.

Then you don't believe in freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech only means the government won't throw you in jail for saying stuff it doesn't like. It has nothing to do with beating up people you disagree with.

This is true. Still weird to see a statement along the lines of "I believe in freedom of speech as long as I can beat you up for it". Only one of those things will get you sent to jail (provided the speech isn't a threat or incitement). Might as well just say you don't believe in free speech at that point, which is fine as it's your freedom to feel that way.

If Michael Jackson's Bad music video has taught me nothing else, it's that there are few problems in life that cannot be overcome by a dance off.

Why of course. Say some gangsta is dissing yo fly girl, just give him one of these.

Seriously though I think in certain situations it's warranted, surprised a few others here think the same though.

Yes.I know someone who verbally assault someone till the victim start crying, telling him to stop did not stop him, so slap to the face it is.

Getting a disease isn't harmless. Getting spat in the face isn't harmless, it's serious assault. I wouldn't coward punch the dude, but he'd get a good shove at minimum.

That's a good reason to beat somebody up.

Bahahaha, nah it's cool bro. Water under the bridge after a few years :P

For me to fight a girl... she'd definitely have to be threatening my life. Like, with a knife or something.

Yup. I'm not a violent man, by any means, but if someone called my daughter a cunt, I'd break their face.

I'd have him/her on the ground with my boot on their throat faster than they can apologize.

That'd suck to not have your Dad any more because someone called you a horrible, degrading word though.

honestly I curbed stomped people just for looking at me so meh
