Jez corden in full defense mode as he attacks laura fryer on X.

You got to say, there's many things that can be attributed to the death of Xbox custom hardware and exclusives.

Bad decisions with Xbone coupled to a poor product, gamepass scalping full price sales, poor first party management and lacklustre exclusives, and many others.

But really, Xbox marketing is the thing that turns me off and perhaps that is partially responsible for the above anyway.

I mean they seem to still hope that toxic influencers and a toxic fan base of rabid 90s adolescent snark merchants will attract people.

I hold my nose playing anything on Xbox to the point that these days I skip the games they release that I'd otherwise be interested in if not associated with Xbox.

Yes all companies do this kind of marketing these days, but paid or not, the Xbox gang just seems particularly dense, toxic and juvenile in a way that made me embarrassed to be associated with it.

I mean a game journalist who has been right about next to nothing since the Xsex / PS5 announcements telling someone who did the job why their opinion is wrong. It's difficult to comprehend the level of hubris that requires.

Spend Sony out of business hubris levels I guess.

Some of the people on this forum should seriously fear the day that Xbox up and closes shop.

Without a familiar whipping boy around to pass the time, they might - in a fleeting moment - realize how devoid their life is of joy and/or meaning/purpose.

The lady is one of the team members of the original Xbox.

The dude is a guy who launched a fanblog on Windows Phone, then switched to Xbox when Windows Phone was dead, and as Xbox is dying, he's looking for a new Microsoft DoA product to cherish. Probably Copilot

I have to say Windows Phone is one of the stupidest purchases I've ever made

Lumia was a bit ahead of its time, a phone with tiled interface and the full google store support will do pretty good now.

I had one way back in the day too. Still have this ancient picture saved.

This phone was the best and most intuitive. My elderly mother just loved her Nokia. Android sucks so much in comparison

UI was good if a bit blade, and it ran quite smoothly.

App support was a huge issue though, so many popular ones were missing yet here in the UK yet the Windows Store was jam packed with Quran and "Ramadan Prayer Times" apps

Stop eating whatever is in your orbit and take a fucking walk man! You're not going to be able to defend this plastic box if you're dead in a year.

The store is what killed it for me, barely any traditional apps.

The conclusion that Microsoft would no longer design their own consoles, according to Fryer at least, came from the fact that Microsoft teamed up with Rog to put out a handheld. It's a stretch to conclude Microsoft is going to pay some 3rd party to make their actual console, but I guess that's what most people on this forum believe. It's possible but seems highly unlikely.
They will work with AMD to design "Xbox approved" SoCs that any third party vendor can use to build their own "Xbox". They are going the 3DO route.

Jez lost his credibility a long time ago. He is hoping Xbox is relevant, so then he can hold onto his job before they end up making him do game guides or shit like that as gaming media is dying.

People still catch bans over there for mentioning the moderation during that saga lol.

I ended up leaving because there were a few subjects going on at that time that were like that. Gaming and otherwise. The staff was scared of the users and it only snowballed. After enough of that, the mods job seemed to be bending reality however suited "prominent users". (that started here btw so a cautionary tale about repeating mistakes of the past) The threat from the users was that they could start a cancellation campaign against the site.

Microsoft 'turfs hard and always had. They managed to take advantage of the situation there to manipulate it. On the run up to this gen, you'd have sworn xbox had already won before it started.

At least he's smart and started a podcast because he might be relying on that more than he wants in the future.
