I was off work today and couldn't resist buying 3 months of PSN+ just to play this game in peace, even though it's released proper tomorrow.
I'm so glad I did, because Journey is one of the greatest gaming experiences I've ever had. Easily one of the top five games of the generation, it actually feels like I'm doing it a dis-service to call it a mere 'game'.
The common thread with TGC is that they make short, simple experiences that substitute depth of gameplay for depth of emotion. People might complain that there's not much 'game' there, but that's not really the point. Too much fussing over controls and what-have-you would interfere with the purity of the experience and the wonder of the environment.
The closest thing I can compare Journey to is the trancendental last few minutes of Aronofsky's 'The Fountain'.
