When I was in sixth grade, there was a small fire in the middle school and the fire department was still assessing our wing of the building. The administration didn't want to use up a cancellation, so they decided they would walk us (a class of, oh, maybe 300 eleven year olds, not easy to herd) the half mile to the high school and there could be a "presentation" in the auditorium all day.

It didn't occur to me until just now how much MORE pissed the teachers must have been about not getting the day off.

So they took us to the auditorium and, sick of our shit already, put on Stand and Deliver and told us to STFU and watch the heartwarming movie about a great teacher. And we were like WE WOULD RATHER MAKE LOUD DICK JOKES and they were like goddammit. So SOMEBODY heroic drove across town to the lone video rental place and picked up Jurassic Park, which had JUST come out on video. They put it on the projector and we proceeded to shit our baby little pants in silence for the next two hours.

During lunch and the all-afternoon outdoor recess they figured they would give us (how did this count as a school day?) all anyone talked about was how they hoped that when they died it would be painless, like really suddenly and they didn't know it was coming, or in their sleep. And not, for instance, while on the shitter and screaming.

Fuckin movie rules.

Never seen any of the movies, not even one Indiana Jones movie either. Is the second and third JP really that bad? Can I save myself if I just watch the first?

If they made Jeff Goldblum's daughter kicking a raptor on the paralell nars a special feature for the first film, my day would be made.

Wait 6 months and they will be released individually, people (because no one wants to own anything but the original).

The Lost World has "DON'T GO INTO THE LONG GRAAAAAASSSSSS!".

Also it has Pete Postlethwaite in a sweet hat. Your argument is invalid.

Even the Tyrannosaurus on the main land wasn't a deal breaker for me. However I need to pretend that the gymnastics part fighting raptors just never happened.

All that is good in heaven and earth can be found beginning at 1:32.

You are correct sir. The "theme" is nice and all but "Journey to the Island" is all I'M GONNA RIDE A FUKKIN DINOSAUR

$50/hour, but no kissing on the lips and colors must be pre-separated
Oh man, all that pointless crap and all I want is the JP1 BluRay disc.

Also, glasses-free 3D on my laptop WHOAHHHHH:

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
Meh, waiting for the original.

I'm sorry, I just can't watch movies where characters somehow have the case of being dumb to live. And yes, I also hate Cloverfield for displaying the same thing.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Jurassic Park is in my top 10 films of all time, so I'll be all over a release of the original.

The T-Rex break out scene is still one of the nicest looking CGI/animatronic hybrids ever filmed.

One of the best movie moments of all time... I remember watching that T-Rex escape as a youngster in the theater. I was holding on to the arm rests so hard, totally fixated on what was happening on the screen. Half scared to death, half amazed.

Yes.

I've had dinosaurs on the brain since before I can remember, and seeing the T. rex breaking out of its paddock for the first time in 1993 was genuinely a defining moment of my childhood.

18 years on, and the original JP has yet to lose an ounce of its magic; I didn't care for the sequels, but I can't wait to see the first one on Blu.

Oh yes, OH YES.

First one is leagues ahead of the sequels but they are still good movies.
I still think making the T-Rex a little bitch in 3 was the worst fucking idea ever though.

edit: I'l be the first to admit that the real scene on that OP gif STILL gets me all teared up today.
The music, man....the music

I'll wait til they release JP1 solo. No interest in 2 or 3. I'd rather watch Batman and Robin to be honest.

Batman and Robin is only good to laugh at while you watch. As long as I close my eyes when Goldblum's daughter is on the parallel drain pipes, I get to see a kick ass and worthy sequel to JP1.

I wonder if this release will have the "leaf grab" and other assorted cuts put back into the film.
I'm wondering what the deleted scenes are too. I always thought Spielberg hated them so I can't imagine what they are. Hopefully the freighter scene with the dead boat crew will have closure.

Btw, the are playing Lost World on Cinemax this month and for all the hoopla surrounding Jurassic Park, Lost World blows it and JP3 out of the water in terms of effects. It all looks fantastic even by todays standards.

The movie still makes some unforgiveable errors in storytelling judgement, but it does so looking fabulous.

18 years. 18 fucking years and still beats the crap out of many 2011 movies.

I just want the original and TLW (Peter Stormare FTW)

Caaaaaarteeeer!
Entirely thanks to the lighting style they went with - the bright daylight shots don't look quite as good. It just goes to show that a keen artistic eye can always overcome technical limitations and age well. District 9 aliens are another one that I think we will still be thinking looks good 18 years from now. I honestly can't really think of other films that'll fit that category.

I think Alien and Aliens also hold up very well so many years later!
