Just bought a Wii U. Surprisingly, there were no shortages.

they said that the Wii U will support two gamepads, tried to sync two to play mario, but didn't work. I assume either they lied, or will hopefully implement it in the future.

It does support two gamepads, there just currently are no games that support dual gamepad play. As of now syncing a second gamepad to the WiiU basically turns it into a Pro Controller.

So I just read that you can actually hook up an external hard drive to the basic Wii U and have a TB of storage for downloaded games??? That is AWESOME ( I got a Basic Wii U and I was scared of the low storage space) !!!

I went ahead and slapped 2TB onto it after having to manage my PS3 saves for the past 2 years. It feels good not to have to worry about space.

For Hearthstone? I hope they implement it, it's one of the more unique things that they can do in the console space.

Wut? Have they said anything about it on Wii U? I have been thinking about it too, but I think the only way it could ever happen would be if they ever made an HTML5 browser version..

Wasn't touching the sticks. And it happens every single time, so it's definitely an issue with the Wii U. Controller is legit and works perfectly once I go through the pairing sequence again. Also, if I start the Wii U using the gamepad, when I turn the Pro on, it doesn't need to be paired again. The issue only comes into play when the console is turned on via the Pro.

You need to try with a different controller to see if the problem persists. I have turned on my WiiU lots of times with the pro, never needed to resync. If the problem is "gone" with a different controller, you can safely assume the controller is the problem. If not, it's likely your WiiU. Either way, it's not normal.

I tried this too just now. Turned off the Wii U with the Pro Controller and then turned it on with it. No issues.

What about the Gamepad, is any button pressed on it by mistake? Does it lay on a table and maybe the trigger are pushed somehow?

Are they even sold separate gamepad? It quite worrysome if not in case some shit happened to my beloved gamepad.

My daughter dropped the Gamepad playing Wii Fit U last night and I had the exact same thought. I know they're available SOON in Japan from what I've read, but nowhere else.

Not as of yet to my knowledge. This is a problem. I think a replacement pad is also quite expensive if you contact Nintendo when your pad is broken. I think it's almost better to get a second Wii U, and store it or hook it up in a different place (downstairs/upstairs or dorm/home...).

That's definitely not good. It doesn't make any sense that Nintendo don't sold the Gamepad considering they targeted the console at family. Meanwhile childrens are more prone to cause accident even when they got watched. It mus be the cost that held them back

Nintendo really needs to remodel the Gamepad to bcome more cost efficient here. I believe they are the one who make Wii U expensive right?

i agree that gamepad should be remodelled and sold separately as well. its probably the primary cost driver at the moment. wiius hardware itself is probably not much more expensive than PS360 (or even cheaper as it has no harddrive).

Pikmin 3 and Mario 3D World for $90 at best buy today

Is Pikmin on that that list? I thought it was only like SM3DW, WWHD, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games? As far as Wii U titles went. Or is there more titles than what was listed?

I have a Wii U coming soon and I'd love to get Pikmin for half off with SM3DW.

I always cringe when watching my nieces play their DS systems. They basically stab the screen with their stylus pretty hard. Needless to say, I don't let them near my Gamepad.

Why would Nintendo choose a glossy finish for the Gamepad??!! I've only had my Wii U for two days and I can already tell this is going to be a constant source of annoyance for me. The thing is a dust and smudge magnet.

Other than that I love the Gamepad, it's nearly everything I wanted from a VMU successor.

white wii U ftw. joking aside, are we all not used to glossy shiny fragile little electronic devices at this point? buy some baby wipes, call it a day.

The clever parts for the streaming are in the console, so you'd still have to include those, so cost savings wouldn't be as great as people expect.

This is one thing I dread. I hate glossy finish personally because I'm kind of OCD on smudges and dust. Made using a PSP quite annoying because of how often it'd get these very noticeable smudges on it.

i think a pricedrop of further 50 to 100 dollar would do wonders

It would do wonders to Nintendo's future platforms' adoption rate. Even now people are waiting for Wii U to become the new GameCube as far as price development is considered. Nintendo has to show that they can keep the price up even when their platform is in troubles or otherwise they will have a hard time selling their future systems.

Yey. I'm a new member of the Wii U club today. Bought the premium pack with Ninendo Land for €250. Cheapest I could find in bricks and mortar. Unfortunately I won't be playing ti until Christmas as it was bought with cristmas money. Thems the rules.

My brother is giving me Zelda for a lend at christmas.

they wont if they launch at 150 for handhelds and 250 for consoles like they did before. this gen they got burned by the 100 dollar higher pricepoints.

The Wii U isn't seen as a console you buy as your one and only console. That's why people easily wait for price drops. If Nintendo cares about future systems selling well, build a damn console that third parties can at the very least feel good about porting games to. Without third party support, Nintendo will forever be in this predicament.

The first few days of owning a black system (I initially owned the white) I was bothered by the greasy smears on the controller and instantly appearing dust on the console. Thinking about it now after a month, I can't recall the last time I noticed anything. I suspect you just stop caring when you are busy playing the games instead of looking at your new hardware.

So I bought a Wii U just over a week ago and it's been great. I've really enjoyed playing it, especially 3D World and Zelda.

However, yesterday after I woke up I wanted to play on it and it wouldn't power up. Red light just kept flashing. Looked it up online and seems like I'll have to return it, but I did see some people saying it worked after unplugging everything and waiting a few minutes. Sure enough that did work and it continued to work for the rest of the day, being turned on and off multiple times throughout the day.

But again, this morning it wasn't having any of it, and it still won't. It just won't power on. So it looks like I'm going to have to send it back which really sucks, not only for presumably losing saves but also because I'm travelling back home for Christmas soon and I wanted to take it with me but who knows if I'll get it, or a new one, back in time...

Where did you buy it? If Amazon, Target, Best Buy etc, just exchange it. No reason to wait for Nintendo to give you someone else's broken Wii U that they refurbished.

The save situation does suck, and if Nintendo wasn't so god awful at everything related to the Internet, we'd have cloud saves by now. If I lost my Zelda and SM3DW saves right now, I'd be incredibly pissed. Perhaps to the point of just not ever playing them again.

Yeah I bought it from Amazon so I guess I'll just do that. My copy of Zelda is inside though which is unfortunate...

Luckily I wasn't too far into Zelda but it'll still suck having to start it again. I had "finished" 3D World but I was going to replay it over Christmas with my sister anyway so I'm not too bothered about losing that.

Try using av cable instead of hdmi. Or just try powering on with no hdmi connected to console.

The way Amazon support works is that you'll typically get a new console within a day or two. Then just use the box it came in to ship back the broken one. Make sure you tell them about the Zelda game so they replace that too.

I tried both of those things but no luck. I have a feeling it's simply the power brick but I don't have access to another one to check. Thanks though.

Hopefully that is the case. I'll get on that right away. Thank you!

So contacted Amazon and they're sending me a replacement for Tuesday which is great. Really quick.

They said they can't do anything about Zelda being inside the system, especially since I didn't purchase the game from them. So I randomly decided to try to get it to turn on so I could eject the disc and what do you know? It turns on first try...

I did mess around with the power brick and cable before trying (laying out the cable straight and whatnot) so I'm thinking it is simply an issue with the adapter. But I feel pretty silly getting a new console when this one does work...ish. I dunno...

I suppose at the end of the day it doesn't matter because I'll have a Wii U, but losing my data and NNID(?) is a pain.

Call Nintendo I think they can transfer that for you

Why is Zombi U still at full price on the eShop when I can find it for $21 on Amazon? I noticed there's a sales section in the eShop, has this game been on sale in the past?

Unplug it from the wall and plug it back in

I need to play it again, loved it to bits.

When you play it again try playing it with aim-assist and crosshairs turned off. It's fucking INSANE lol. Really adds to the pressure, particularly when you have a number of zombies to deal with because once you start to panic it's very easy to miss shots. I almost had a nervous breakdown on my first playthrough lololol.

Definitely the best game released last year for me.
