oh a 14 year old being silly
I really don't care at all what this person does as long as he doesn't kill or rape anyone. He just needs to slowly go away.
oh a 14 year old being silly
I do.
But unless something is said with actual malice, I have a hard time saying its 'hate speech'. Am I treating that term too literally or something? I'm not saying it isn't racist, just that 'hate speech' is something said with very direct intent.
Also, I did not realize the lyrics was about killing a black person. That makes it worse, although I still think him being 14 allows room for me to forgive.
Secondly, I never saw that graffiti. What the hell. He looks far older there. That's pretty awful.
Anyways, this'll be where I get tired of being ganged up on by the 'if you're not with us, you're against us' crowd. I'm off.
I thought the Indian American spelling bee thread was you just joking around but you really do seem to get into it when telling people what isn't racist
you do this in literally every thread of this type
and then youre going to say "wow its getting hot in here, im leaving" when you get put to task
I do.

This dood needs to be jailed
I know, all 14 years who say stupid shit should be given the death penalty
The black community won't be outraged because they have been beaten down mentally over the past decades so much to point were they would defend or make excuses for supremacist views or statements from people who don't like them. Bieber is a supremacist plan and simple and he learnt it from his environment, like a lot of Europeans, not all but seeing how people on this site and other sites try to defend his supremacist ways shows you that there are a lot of people with similar views that they don't want to share. Because Bieber has black friends means jack shit, why put your bullshit conviction over possible millions? And anyone saying get over it, nigger is just a word like faggot, stfu because the two words have a history that can't be compared.
Just curious, how old are the people in this thread saying that being 14 is no excuse?

I can't believe I'm somewhat defending Justin Bieber as I don't like the guy at all, but in this context, he was only a 14 year old kid having an immature laugh (because its so obscene) with his friends. Stupid yes, but it wasn't planned to be aired to the world as actual meaningful hate.
You must first comprehend that the starting point of that person is that of a justin beiber fan
HOLY SHIT GODDAMN

Another example of the word 'racist' probably being thrown around too easily.
These tweets are awfully ignorant, but not really racist.
I doubt its that bad. You don't notice all the cops that aren't harassing you, because they're leaving you alone. I think painting a majority of a group of people to be bad people based on a few bad experiences with them is exactly the sort of generalizing thinking that leads to racism and other prejudices. And I'm constantly amazed how little people realize that.
Also, yea, a lot of people wanting to shout racist all the time need to realize that there's cops that are assholes in general and aren't just being racist. Its annoying that a white person cant be an asshole to a black person without it being a race issue. Not saying the cop here isn't racist and isn't being motivated by racism, but we don't really know that.
I often hear people say stuff like, "How does racism still exist these days?"
And your post is exactly why. Because people generalize like this. Your rationale is no better than somebody who has a few bad experiences with some black people and finds themselves thinking that the majority of black people are bad people afterwards.
I've said it quite a few times before on this board, but we really need to attack prejudicial thinking as a whole. Its difficult because our brains are basically wired to generalize like this, but that can be overcome. The problem is that prejudicial attitudes are treated as ok in some cases and not in others. So people get the idea that 'racism' is the type of prejudicial attitude they should avoid, while saying that the majority of cops are scum is something perfectly fine to think and say. Its not right and its not fair, but worst of all, it lends credence to prejudicial thinking in general.
Not everybody who displays the flag is doing so because they're racist.
A lot of people just show it for Southern pride, to represent the 4-wheelin, BBQ'in, shootin cans lifestyle they enjoy.
I agree its in bad taste no matter what, though. They should really find a better symbol.
From what I've learned, basically everything and anything is racist to a lot of people. Its one of the most abused accusations thrown around because the meaning of the word has been grossly expanded to basically mean anything related to race, bad or not.
And I don't like Bieber. I would love to call him an awful human being, and maybe he still is, but I don't think this one thing is proof of that. Its a bit different than somebody like Jeremy Clarkson saying it, for example. Kids are ignorant and dumb. But they can learn. I'm sure many of us are not the same people we used to be at his age.
I can safely say this test is absolute bullshit.
According to it, I strongly prefer Hispanic people, then Asian people are kinda in the middle, blacks right below that and white people right below that. Which is whack. I can safely admit I prefer white people slightly, just because its in my nature to identify with my own kind. I would imagine most everybody else feels the same way if they're honest with themselves.
Its a test of memorization and pattern recognition more than anything.
Shame that people are taking it seriously and acting like half the US is racist. I rarely see overt racism. I think most people keep it to themselves or with people they're close to.
So calling a gay a 'faggot' to their face isn't any different than ribbing a buddy as a 'faggot'?
Not saying either is right, but these are honestly equally bad in your eyes? Severity and intent don't matter whatsoever?
Its crazy how some people see the world in such black and white sometimes.
If you want to ignorantly generalize of tens of millions of people, including myself and many others on GAF that are from the south, go ahead.
Its exactly the sort of thinking that leads to racism in the first place, but surely you're above that sort of thing, being a highly so-phisticated northerner and all.
Reverse racism usually refers to somebody of a specific race that are resentful of a perceived(true or not) prejudice against them by another certain race and thus become prejudiced against that race in return. It is quite literally 'reverse' racism and an apt name for it.
EDIT: I'm shocked at how many people are quite ignorant of what this term means. Was expecting somebody else to have hit upon this as well, but not one other person has. Its a pretty well known phenomenon that goes beyond just 'race'. This happens quite a bit in the Middle East with battles over territory and religious differences, for example.
Its really annoying to hear a college professor being so judgemental of a group of people. If there's one profession where we need more empathy and understanding, its teachers. These are all young people still. Anybody who has enjoyed popularity in high school probably isn't going to suddenly find it completely bottom priority 6 months later when they join college. People just dont change that fast. Some will, lots wont. Looking down on and generalizing this group of people really just doesn't help the situation at all.
Sorry for the off-topic mini-rant, but I found this really shitty to read.
Oh and professor, its 'ambition'.
Really ridiculous of course, but its fairly normal for people of any origin to always feel *they* are the persecuted ones.
I do think that anti-white racism is more common than people realize, though. I've been jumped for being white, I've been called 'cracker' in a disparaging way quite a few times, I'm pretty sure I was suspended from school because my black vice principal took the word of one black girl over the word of half a dozen other classmates who vouched for me in a 'fish-killing' incident. Again, I'm sure most black people experience worse than this, but when you're a decent person yourself and you experience this sort of thing, its hard to feel you're not the one being persecuted.
Post about calling out Seanspeed on his bullshit
Is Seanspeed a racist? I'm not familiar with his posting.
Fucking ethered.
We really need a term for racist sympathizers.

*Post full of ether*
Guys, if a 14 years old shoots someone will you just say "Well, at 14 they don't really know better. When he grows up he will understand why shooting people is wrong."?
It is not like 14 years old are THAT dumb to not know when something shouldn't be done or said or recorded.
Seanspeed ether
White people are privileged enough to inhabit a space where it's a lot more difficult to do things that are racially offensive because they've been and continue to be the dominant culture. It doesn't matter if YOU don't think it's offensive or racist for a white person to paint their face black, it is insensitive at the least considering the history of race relations in this country and even worldwide. Did she mean to be racist? I'm sure she didn't. But that's how it comes across. A lack of ill-will doesn't excuse it. The best way you could spin it is that it's displaying extreme ignorance and insensitivity.
Seanspeed jumps into literally every thread about race to say some variation of this:
His concern for racists being outed is much higher than his concern for the people being affected by hateful language. People like him are allies to racists and need to be called out just as often as the ones who go on tirades yelling "nigger."
See below:
Defending racist cops:
Blames minoritiea for racism still existing -- because they identify and call out widespread patterns of racism and abuse from law enforcement. They're the real racists perpetuating racism.
Defending the confederate flag and people who proudly display it:
General thoughts in a racist joke thread:
Defends Bieber in both instances in which it has been revealed he used the word "nigger."

I do think this is fair, even though the outrage brigade will condemn him for life for this.
AP poll finds majority of Americans hold some prejudice against blacks, goes into denial mode.
As expected, runs to the defense of Jonah Hill and others who use "faggot" as a general insult.
Someone mentions frequent bad experiences in the South, Seanspeed runs to defend the South. The same pattern. He never once symphatizes/emphatizes. Just always dashes into threads to downplay discrimination, slurs and give convoluted explanations on the side opposite of whoever is being wronged.

Defending "reverse racism":
Rant defending dudebros from the suburbs, a great example of what he never does when minorities get shat on (e.g. Indian Americans in the spelling bee).
Typical thread shitting (but what about anti-white racism!) in "Study Finds White Americans Believe They Experience More Racism Than Black Americans" thread.
Edit: And these are only a fraction of his bullshit posts.
