Goodbye beautiful cute waifus like Quelaag. Hello broad-shouldered, square-jawed wilder beasts like Abby and MJ.

We had a good run Miyazaki bros.
I doubt a mandate like this ever comes from the HQ. It always varies by studios to studios, and it is the developers working in those studios that decide the type of characters and models they'll have in their games.

The same Sony approved SM2's MJ and Stellar Blade's Eve.

The difference lies in the studios and the developers.

Tbf I think that's more of a western studios thing and their brainrot. Sony paid for and co-produced Stellar Blade.

Wait until the Stellar Blade: Left Behind DLC where it’s revealed that Eve had gender affirming hormone treatment at a young age and is packing an 8 inch dong. You’re all going to regret those steamy lube sessions bros.

Hot take: From games will, over time, prove to be the foothold for Sony's successful landing into the launcher market.

Put them everywhere, but special little bonuses for being on PSN, is my prediction.

You may see 1 or 2 future titles exclusive. Legacy titles will remain multiplat.

Also if switch 2 is as powerful as ps4 they will want to attract that audience as well.
DeS and BB will definitely remain exclusive if they ever make sequels.

Dark Souls definitely won't return as it's owned by Bamco IIRC. Elden Ring and Armored Core I could see multiplatform but knowing Sony it'll be like a year or two after initial release. The only multiplatform game they made was MLB I think and that was because they were contractually obligated to. Death Stranding used to be exclusive but I think they gave Kojima the IP.

Moderated wildly
During the PS4 era, Sony started heavily censoring anime games compared to other games coming out. Japanese twitter at the time was pissed.

Now of course, people are worried that if they get everything Kadokawa has, the censorship will continue to spread even to the Anime/Manga that KadoKawa has.

AH, OK I remember the issues around censorship and Sony. Is it still the same or is it sorted now?

I hope they're left alone and mostly independent, having Hermen putting his dirty fingers on Fromsoft would be a nightmare.

None of this stuff is heading to Xbox if this deal goes through.

The biggest question is does Day 1 PC still happen or do you end up with a year or so delay.

I think it would be fair to have FromSoftware focus on a PS5 only release with support from Bluepoint and then have Nixxes handle the PC ports.

I think this could result in

  • More content from FromSoftware
  • Increased localization efforts
  • More technically proficient games
  • Improved quality PC ports

I doubt they approved Eve's design. The game wasn't originally a PS exclusive as far as I'm aware and Sony came into the picture while it was in full development. Eve had already been shown by then and Sony had nothing to approve or disapprove.

Reverse groomer.
If MS has proven anything acquisitions arent good for the industry at all, so im not happy about this

Besides, this doesn't spell anything good for anime and manga either. Kadokawa is a lot bigger than just FromSoftware.

That's exactly my point - that HQ / SIE doesn't approve or disapprove character designs.

If they wanted, they could always censor the character design, at any stage of the game.

My point is that I don't think SIE is interested in micro-stuff like this. It is the devs themselves working in a studio - and their mentality - that decide these things.

They did demon souls and bloodborne for sony so yeah...

I'm not here to try to convince you or anything(even less interested in this console war bullcrap). And Bloodborne is from a different time, I'm talking about modern Sony. I don't believe for a second that Myiazaki would have his creative freedom there nowadays. I also see people using Stellar Blade, but Stellar Blade isn't from Sony. It was a fruition out of a response of people criticizing their garbage States of Play(hence why they quickly made one about Stellar Blade and Rise of Ronin, with Ryan stating about east games or something like it). You may believe this is good for them, but I don't. I believe companies like From deserves to remain free, and this is not even about my position against consolidations.

You do know Sony doesn’t demand any of that right? Look at Death Stranding, Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade, etc. all games they financed.
God of War 2, Ghost of Tsushima 2, Horizon, Spider man 2, TLOU 2 all the stories look like they had been through the Disney PR department. I also find it curious that you think Death Stranding wasn’t preachy.

What I expect;

Future Elden Ring, Sekiro and Armoured Core entries will remain Day 1 multi-plat. There's no way that can change especially with Elden Ring.

New IP will have some sort of exclusivity on PlayStation & PC.

From Software going out with Elden Ring as the last good game.

Any future FS games I will not be pre ordering until I see reviews.

Ummm.... have you seen how Sony runs things?

Look into Bungie/Concord.
Lol they released 30 gems last 15 years and 1 failure now look to the otherside.

You guys can only be joking.

After thoughtful consideration I will allow that but we're taking Armored Core as a loss leader for PS6 and 1 year wait on everything else.

Thanks.

Sounds like a hostile takeover

«We are aware someone is trying to breach the front gates»

Sony sent an offer letter. If Kadokawa doesn't want to be bought, they can just say no thanks.

For everyone complaining about this, what other company would you like to see buy Kadokawa if they're trying to sell? Microsoft? EA? Ubisoft? Who do you think would be less likely to ruin From Software than Sony?

Just emailed Kodakawa, told them we would give Xbox/PC 10 years of any Elden Ring multiplats before we enforce exclusivity, but only if they sign by this weekend. They are thinking it over.
