Can't believe people are getting up in arms over the term "boo-boo".
Its one my friends and I use all the time, actually. Before this album even dropped.
"Aw man this weather today is boo-boo"
"What? Uncharted 4 got delayed? Thats that boo-boo right there"
"Bud light again? Why are you always buyin those boo-boo ass beers?"

And so forth.

Its also not the first time he's used the word boo-boo in a song.

Keep it running, Ali
So tell 'em, "Shut the fuck up!" Tell 'em, "Shut the fuck up!"
Yeah, bitch, you boo-boo, you T'd, you turnt down, you thirsty
*repeated in different ways*
Keep all that

Struggle dance straight to hell, Kenny.

You stay mad and hating in this thread.

I know it wasn't the first time he said that, was just trying to show how many adlibs he's dropped when going into each new project.

or brought back in dis case

it's a very common term amoung young african american's in the ghetto. I'm just as suprised as you that people are angry over him using it.

Every album he comes with a goofy ass term that just works.

TPAB - Boo boo
GKMC - Ya bish
S80 - Woopty woop woopty woop woop
OD - dont wuwwwwwy

he always drops something as he perfects his craft tbh

He definitely didn't come up with boo boo.

Been using that as a term for years.

Between this, So Help Me God, Cole's album, Lupe's Album, and probably Tha Carter V, the best rap album Grammy race will be a tight one.

This album is fantastic. I think it'll get a mixed reaction but I love it. I think Kendrick's a real artist - not 'just a rapper'.

Between this and Black Messiah I am really happy! More deep, album orientated, socially engaged music pls

His usage is still grating and repetitive in the song.

Slightly sarcastic there, but I had a feeling that critics would LOVE this album.

Fair enough. You are probably right, though I do wonder if it will beat MBDTF.

I also wonder how it will do against Carrie & Lowell, another album which will almost certainly be a critical darling.

Can't say I particularly like the album. Has a couple alright tracks (Alright, u, The Blacker the Berry, i, King Kunta after the first beat switch) but otherwise I don't really like the whole 'funk' vibe he has going here.

Listened to it again, then listened to GKMC and man GKMC is still so good

timeless album. I'll be still playing GKMC twenty years from now.

though to be fair I like TPAB a similar amount, if a bit less upon first impression.

Grantland talks Butterfly.

I can pay no higher compliment to Kendrick’s rapping than to say I am prepared to change the “I Gave You Power” Test to the “How Much a Dollar Cost” Test. In 2015, not even Kendrick can stop Kendrick.
Most of all, it’s a preference, not a rule — it’s Kendrick’s right to express himself and his artistic vision however he pleases.

But you know what I mean: One more straightforward Kendrick album full of non-avant-garde beats and rhymes would have been nice. To Pimp a Butterfly feels weighed down by his desire to live up to his genius, but that brilliance came through effortlessly on Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City and his other music that felt less like homework.
I respect what Kendrick’s trying to do. He doesn’t see competition from any peers, and now he wants his identity to be bigger than freestyles and punch lines. Maybe that’s more noble than doing 360s on Drake’s head.

Prediction: Lil' Wayne disappears forever.

Wishful thinking.

Anyway, liking the new album. Blacker the Berry hits hard indeed.

People can say Baby is screwing Wayne out of money, but he's kind of doing hip hop a favor for holding up his album release.

About to hit up my 3rd full listen (Have listened to single tracks here and there between listens).

The more I listen, the less I feel compelled to compare it to GKMC. Kendrick is trying to achieve completely different things here and they stand as independent, very different pieces of work.

I already gave the album 3 spins and love it. I'm not much of a hip hop head, but this album sounds so refreshing and is one of the more fully realized albums as a whole.

Listend to a bit of this today it's ok so far early thoughs are I really dug the snoop and George Clinton spots. Also the king kunta made me want a dj quik collab.

Hurry up with that CD Amazon, I want my first listen to be in CD quality. Not trying to get some compressed stream for a first playthrough.

Figured Kendrick using boo-boo is kind of the point of the song, he's putting himself back into a time when he was younger and was in the hood. Which is why he's rapping in a higher pitched voice and the hook is basic ass shit talking. He's looking back on his experience and then talks about what he sees now.

TPAB will do much better than C&L. There are going to be a lot of "i can tell this is deep because jazz" and "he's a rapper but he's an artist too!" reviews.

Well yeah, but it's still annoying

That would make a lot of sense.

Thank you. Same here. Interesting seeing slang that people have or haven't heard.

I thought boo boo was common lol.

This CD does lead me to wonder where Kendrick goes on his next record.

This is the "I have too much cachet in the game, so fuck the sales and the critics, Imma make what I want to make" record that most people can't come out with until they are a well established superstar in the game and certainly not on their second solo on a major.

Does he keep exploring this WC jazzy-funk soul sound or does he go with a more aggressive, bombastic sounding release? Will he have the collaborative album with Pharrell that the world needs? Will Dre ever give him a beat?
