Kickstarter: Fidget Cube. For people who can't keep their hands still.

So this has become much bigger than they probably ever expected. Whatever their first idea was for the production run, they'll really have to size up now.

It's a great idea for someone like me who'll play with anything at their desk.

However it's a fifteen quid cube with buttons and dials that do nothing, I'll stick to fiddling with paper clips and blu tac.

This looks like it's going to be something that people in an office environment are going to hate because one person is going to get one and be clicking the damn thing almost constantly.

I have incredibly fidgety hands, and I keep a little square cube of clay on my desk that I sometimes just mold into shit at random.

I also love this type of thing, especially if it has some weight/resistance to it:

Hopefully they're able to actually sort out the manufacture and shipping of these things; it's entirely possible (likely? it is Kickstarter) that shipment is delayed indefinitely while they work out production kinks. If the build quality seems high and they're able to deliver, I might get a few.

What is that and where can I buy one?

I was thinking it might be good for kids at school, but at the same time, having audible faces means it would probably just annoy every one around them.

I would be extremely annoyed if someone was making clicking sounds at work all day long. The first thing I thought when I saw that some of the buttons made noise was 'WTF are they thinking?'

This looks like my kind of tool, true geniuses like to fidget
yes I'm a genius don't be alarmed

But I'm a little bit in the hole right now with expenditures, I'll wait until the mass market version to buy it.

Threw all the numbers together and combined they have 204753 cubes from all the different pledge levels from 92495 backers that get to choose from 8 different colors.
I'm curious how long this'll get delayed.
Looking at Kicktraq it says they are 24.78k% above the original goal with a month to go so things'll be interesting.

New update
Fidget Family,
Two weeks ago, when we launched Fidget Cube, we had no idea what the following days and weeks would turn into.
We knew we had made a product that we personally loved, but we were unsure if we would be able to convey just how fun and helpful Fidget Cube has been for us. Your trust in us and Fidget Cube has gone well beyond what we could have imagined. We don't take this lightly. For the past week we have been working hard to put systems in place that will help us manage this burst of love for Fidget Cube.
For example, there was once a time where we had planned on shipping your order personally, packaging up each reward with a small team made up of us and any family members who would accept payment in the form of pizza. As this doesn’t appear to be possible anymore, we are partnering with fulfillment companies that will assist in making sure your Fidget Cube gets to you, no matter which part of the world you’re in. All of these details add up to one conclusion: we are ramping things up at Antsy Labs!
We have read your concerns regarding shipping and whether or not we will be able to ship by December. What we can tell you is it's STILL our goal and will remain our goal until we are proven otherwise. We plan to have a much clearer picture in the coming weeks and will keep you posted. That said, we do appreciate the countless comments saying that quality is more important than an earlier ship date. We agree and are glad to hear we are not alone!

Which leads us to our next point: we would rather under promise and over deliver. For this reason, we are going to be making a new set of reward tiers with a ship date of March 2017. If you have already pledged, this will not affect you. However, we will be closing off current tiers so there will be no more pledges allowed on tiers with a December ship date. This is a common practice among projects that get a little bigger than planned ;).
This change will take place tomorrow, September 14, at around 7pm EST.
Many of you have been asking about our next stretch goal. The wait is over...
We’ve been very intentional about our stretch goals for this project, as making Fidget Cube is of course our primary focus and we want to be careful to not add too many peripheral tasks that would take time away from that.
It’s incredibly important that each stretch goal we announce adds actual value to Fidget Cube and satisfies a need/desire that has been voiced by the community.
One thing we’ve heard repeatedly from many of you in the Fidget Family is that you’d like something to protect your Fidget Cube. Whether that’s because you’re planning on throwing it in your pocket along with keys, or just want a storage solution, we hear you!
We’re excited to announce that when we reach $5.5M, each Fidget Cube will come with its own carrying pouch! We will post pictures as soon as we have them, but we think you’ll like it!
The FAQs on the project page are a helpful resource, but we have been super impressed to see the interactions taking place in the comments. Community members are stepping up and truly helping answer questions. Thank you! We have put together a few questions you may have and have answered them below.

Why are you standing by the December ship date? With how many Fidget Cubes you have to send, there’s no way your backers should expect their Fidget Cube by the holidays.
The logistics of this project are immense but we are approaching it with the deadline of December in mind. This will drive us to not settle for a later date this early in the campaign - we truly are still doing our best to get you your Fidget Cube ASAD (As Soon As December)! That said, you have our commitment that we will be keeping you updated as soon as we have solid projections.
Now that you are locking the current tiers, can I change my pledge amount?
Of course - once the tier is locked, it doesn’t mean you can't change anything. It just means any new pledges will have to be done in the new tiers. This change will take effect tomorrow, September 14, at around 7pm EST.
I want to hang my Fidget Cube on a keychain, is this going to be possible?
This has been the ongoing debate, and there are backers that fall on both sides! We are designing a solution and you should expect to see this solution before the project is done ;).
I want to add one, two, or three+ Fidget Cubes to my pledge, but don’t want to pledge for the next highest reward tier.
Not a problem! Here’s what to do:
1) Pledge for the reward tier that is closest to the quantity of Fidget Cubes you want.
2) Once the project is finished and we’re ready to ship your rewards, we’ll send out your backer survey. As we’ve mentioned before, you’ll be able to choose your color scheme(s) and provide your shipping address in this survey. You’ll also have the option to add (and pay for) additional Fidget Cubes to your pledge at this time.
Some notes on this:
Adding additional Fidget Cubes at the time of filling out your backer survey will not change shipping costs or the order in which your rewards are shipped.
Finally, some of you may have already customized your order by adding additional Fidget Cubes to your reward tier (and have already been in contact with us). If this describes you, there’s no need to change anything!
Perhaps the most important question is being asked by fellow Fidgeteer, Will H.

The answer is YES! Yes, we believe we'd owe you a few actually.
Updates are an essential part of our communication. We see it as the best way for us to disseminate information effectively and efficiently. Because we put a lot of effort into our updates, we plan on doing them once a week - and more frequently if time permits.
Thank you!
Until next time, Fidget On!
Team Antsy Labs (Matthew and Mark)
If you want to maybe get it before Christmas time's running out.

It sure sounds like they're prepping backers to have little expectation that the December ship date is hit. I don't blame them if they end up missing 2016, however.

I'm not expecting mine in December at this point, I just want in on the first wave.

Definitely.
Its a small group of people who have done small things before that's 2 grand away from 4 million and 1200 away from 100k backers with a month to go.
They didn't expect this at all and are gonna have to ramp up everything tremendously.
I'd be pleased if they do but I have no expectation at all of receiving it in December.

Even trinket making company in the world must be looking at this screaming why they didn't think of this and rushing to design their own right now.

(E) Make that 4,000,541 now.

The stretch goal of a carrying pouch seems kind of lame, given that this doesn't really come off as a high-end product desperate for protection from the elements. But whatever, their project exploded at a rate and scale they probably never anticipated and now they have to deal with trying to please more than 100 thousand people whose expectations are likely unrealistic.

If you Google "Fidget Cube" you see a metric shit ton of articles on various sites, which is probably doing a lot to fuel demand.

Even trinket making company in the world must be looking at this screaming why they didn't think of this and rushing to design their own right now.

Hopefully. It would be nice to see companies with established production/distribution lines make more fidgety gadgets. Even the random Chinese toy companies would bring a lot more choice and affordability.

These look like a pretty good diversion to stop people from touching stuff that you actually don't want them to.

In light of that, I'll wait for the (inevitable) cheaper knockoffs so I won't be angry when said people (inevitably) break them.

50 hours left.
Slowed down at the end and by slowed down I mean only 6.15 million currently with 148K backers.

Anyways time to vote on backer designed color schemes.
http://www.gridjungle.com/fidgetcubecustomcolorscheme
Or it will be once the site goes back up since the flood of people from kickstarter brought the site down.
*Before continuing, please note that by voting on your favorite color scheme, you are not choosing what color(s) of Fidget Cube your reward will be. You are simply voting for what backer designed color scheme you think should be adopted into the official lineup of Fidget Cube Color Schemes.

With so many entries, it was important to us to find a platform that would allow for easy viewing and voting. While it is slightly difficult to view all color schemes at once, we are confident that the solution we chose will allow for the most loved color scheme to prevail! To vote, follow the below steps:

1) Click here to visit the gallery.

2) Use the navigation arrows on the top right of the gallery to pan up/down/left/right. (Each row may take a moment to load as you pan across, so be patient).

3) Because of the massive number of entries you all submitted, it may be difficult to look through each and every individual design up close. If you’d still like to do that, great! What we’d suggest is to view all of the submissions at a glance and see if there are any color schemes that stand out to you - then click those to go in for a closer look.

4) To vote, click on the design you like, and hit “Vote for this!”. You will only be able to vote once per design, but you can choose up to 50 of your favorites.

5) Designs with the most votes will be displayed in the center of the gallery, with those that have received fewer votes being displayed further out towards the edges.

Voting on this round will end on October 19, at the same time that the project comes to a close. We will then gather the top candidates at put them together in a simple and straightforward survey that isn't so overwhelming.

IMPORTANT: This is the initial round of voting. Once this round closes (at the time the project ends), we will tally the votes and put together a final, more succinct lineup of the most popular designs (we envision 10 or less options). Then, later this week we’ll post the final round of voting, where the community will be able to select their favorite from the very top designs.

The gallery to vote on colors won't load for me.

Didn't work when I clicked the link in my email and still doesn't work on any of the links posted above.

I can't open too

Just get me one in witchever color, my pens can't take anymore abuse. I usually roll them on my fingers, disassemble them, click endlessly,

We’re sorry, but due to excessive abuse of this free service, we have suspended the photo upload feature.
Welp managed to get in for a second, I guess they should use a paid survey site that's capable of handling these loads.
Kickstarter must have dumped more people in a hour on that poor site than they see in a month.
Guess we'll have to wait for a new survey on a different site.

Apologies for the double post.

GridJungle.com has Closed

Due to technical difficulties and lack of support for this free service, we have been forced to shut the site down. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for GridJungle’s current users.

Thank you
Well I've seen kickstarters temporarily kill sites but I've never seen one straight up close down because of it.

So now.
We have uploaded all of the designs to a Facebook album - this way you can click on the first one and scroll through them all (if you have some free time). We hope this is a good second option as it will allow the community to voice their opinion on a familiar platform.

The rules are simple: "like" the designs you think are good and would be happy with, skip the ones you don't. Once the end of the project rolls around, we will count up which designs have the most likes, then put them in a succinct survey for easy voting. Again, we are thinking roughly 10 designs will make it to the final round. The final round will not be hosted on a social media platform and will most likely look similar to our Fidget Feedback surveys we send out.

You get a album of images to sort through and like the best ones.
There are 853 images and I've seen a bunch of duplicates and ones that don't even meet the requirements set by the creators.
This is way to many to sort through and I feel like some good designs that actually meet the requirements set are gonna fall through the cracks.
Plus as far as I know the images in the album are fixed in position so the top hundred or so will get far more attention than the ones further in the album especially given its target audience.
Anyways pick yer favorites.
Just make sure it conforms to these requirements.
3. Choose a color for the body of the cube. This needs to be the same color on all sides. You can then choose whatever colors you want for each component.

*Please make sure the worry stone is the same color as the cube

** Please choose a silver or black for the ball. (Silver color code: #c5c3c2 / Black color code: #000000)
