Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX |OT| Sora is Everyone... in HD

The only magic a sword user needs is Aeroga and Curaga. Everything else is just extra. Also Goofy's MP gift.

When I first did a completionist run back with the original game, I ran with a sword user but still ended up using other magic--isn't Gravity magic still extremely useful? I also veered towards shooting Fire spells early on because those little floating mages were a nuisance with the camera angle sometimes (and the fire spell had a small measure of homing, if I'm remembering correctly).

Edit: And, yeah, MP gift was great... totally helped me get out of a couple tight spots in the original Proud mode.

Yes Fire to Firage homes in on targets in KH1. Gravity is useful vs the Fat Heartless but is kinda useless for the most part.

Boy, nothing really sours that nostalgia faster than fighting the camera over and over again :(

2hrs in and most of that was spent looking for fish lol

Now that I am replaying Kingdom Hearts 1, I can build a better case against it whenever someone claims it is a better game than Kingdom Hearts 2. Especially in regards to the story.

Put in close to 9 hours, though :3

Went and picked up this game, wanted to give the Kingdom Hearts series another try. I originally had KH1 with my PS2 but didn't play very far.

So far, I'm a little over an hour into the HD remix and I'm enjoying the game quite a bit. It looks pretty good for a remaster, and it has a good balance of light and dark feel...that intro sequence was pretty ominous.

Also, I went ahead and chose Proud mode, simply because I just have a feeling that this game won't be that difficult. I've been playing a lot of RPGs on upped difficulty so I figure I'd take a shot. So far so good.

Is there an experience chart out there regarding the dawn/day/dusk questions? I chose dusk on my Proud playthrough and I'm kind of regretting it. I want to see how big of a difference there is to determine if I should suck it up or start over (I just got to wonderland).

I'm new to this, and I thought this system was interesting. For my questions it said I started midday. I guess I'll find out later what that means.

Huh. Interesting, trophies are the same region as the JP version? Just noticed I have all the Days ones already even though I just started watching in English.

The problem is you really need to have played other games in the series with KH2, games that are on different devices. That's the frustration I had with it when I initially played it. KH1 is self-contained at least except for the ending, which I thought was silly. And the music is utterly fantastic, I can still recall Hollow Bastion's music as if it was 10 years ago.

Well, that's the inherent nature with sequels. Especially one where there is a deeply woven story between the games, unlike other game franchises that look to refresh/reboot the series each time. And I would say that Kingdom Hearts 2 has an ending which really makes the entire story feel complete—I actually see KH2's ending as the ending of Sora/Riku/Kairi's story, with the extra stuff just being filler. In which case, the only important games really... are KH1, CoM, Days, and KH2. Just ignore the references in Days, and you've got yourself one heck of a complete story.

Yeah, man. I was battling heartless and that remastered version of Sora's theme came on. ;_;

Can't remember what to do in Wonderland..

wheres that fourth clue gotdamnit

Answering my own question, not sure how accurate this is but found this on game faqs:

I think I'm gunna restart :D

Is there a reason for grinding on Destiny Islands? The only hard boss in the game is com-gardiun.

I dunno about everyone else, but I do it so I can kick Riku's ass easily. Dude was super extra smug in the first game so beating him in a fight and in the race makes me feel better.

What's the point of this system exactly? It seems to flip-flop part way.

The flip flop is there to give a trade-off to players who choose the different paths.

The people stuck with dusk have to put more effort in until about the level 40 point (late game), where they're rewarded with a much lower EXP threshold for every level through 100.

Dawn players get the edge early on but have to take longer leveling up (and require more exp overall for 100) later on in exchange.
It's one of the few systems from 1 that I really missed in the later games. I wish they hadn't made it so bloody obtuse, but I really liked it in principle.

Beat Stealth Sneak. I never understood why sometimes he seems to be invulnerable temporarily. I saved and was doing the tree slider minigame for Its rewards and then my power decided to go out. I guess it's bedtime.

So I'm in the Deep Jungle.

If I keep Tarzan in my team, does the character that gets left out get EXP?

Is it worth putting in the Disney characters that come with the levels?

Reserve party members still get full exp. You can only activate Trinity marks with Donald and Goofy though. There are no missable Trinities by the way.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
So as a person who's going Staff (and choosing to leave the sword), and as someone who wants to eventually level to 99 and beat every mini-boss... what should I pick? Dawn? Dusk? Just stay with midday, perhaps?

Personally I think Dusk. Beginning isn't terribly difficult and you'll level up fairly quickly regardless. Later on though, boy, you'll be happy you won't need quite as much exp.

Smart. Anyone disagree?

Maybe it's the new cutscenes that were added into the final mixed but weren't voiced.

I'm getting unvoiced stuff right at the very beginning of Destiny Islands.

Re:Chain of Memories and 358/2 Days are fully voiced in English. It's just KH1FM that is missing cutscene voices. Arrrggghhh.

edit: aha, it's because I moved my PS3 to a different audio setup and apparently the voices appear on the central/surround speakers.

Alright I'm done for the night pretty much. Have fun to those that are gonna continue to play.

I've taken a break to sit at a cafe and do some stuff but I'll be jumping back in when I get home. I'm actually pretty excited to play this game. It has a certain Square charm that I haven't experienced in a while in their newer games.

Dusk means I should answer the first option on everything right?
