I wonder if we'll actually get a Jungle Book world in KH3 now.

Though to be honest, I just want a New Orleans world.

I got the platinum for KH2 recently, and those gummi ship trophies weren't nearly as tedious as I thought they'd be. Only needed to build a donut for Assault of the Dreadnaught mission 3.

Gonna go for the platinum on KH1 now. Sucks that I have to do 3 playthroughs to get all of them, but at least it's a fun game. But like hell am I gonna get the plat for RE:Com. Maybe for BBS though, haven't looked to see if the trophies are too hard to get.

Yeah I used to hate the Kingdom Hearts 2 gummi missions, but minus the specialised ones it's hilariously easy with the hole through the middle gummi design.

The Birth By Sleep platinum's pretty tedious, not too difficult if you're good with the game but it is so so tedious having to essentially 100% the maingame three times over with each character for platinum.

Welp... my nephews were playing KH2 a few days ago and saved... I didn't know they were on my account... more than 60 hours of progress lost :(

Lingering Will was the last thing I had to do to 100% Jiminy's report. Some Gumi Jet missions and I would have gotten the Platinum trophy...
Am I allowed to cry over a game as a 24 year old guy?

Finally got through all the games from Kingdom Hearts to Birth By Sleep. All I'm doing now is waiting for 2.8. I got Dream Drop Distance for sale on the 3DS before 2.8 was announced, but at this point I think I'm just going to wait for the HD remake where I'll also be able to experience those X cutscenes and BBS 0.2.

Lucky you! you get re:experience the best Kingdom Hearts from the beginning.

edit: re-watching all of the Kingdom Hearts intros.... is it safe to say Dream Drop Distance has the worst intro and makes the least amount of sense? I mean, visually it's nice, but it's kind of a shallow experience.

Hey guys. Been bit by a weird bug that compells me to play KH. How are the HD versions on the PS3? Worth? What is considered the optimal way to play these games are far as systems/re-releases?

The HD ReMix Collections are the definitive ways to go through the KH games apart from Days & Coded, which are in movie form instead of being playable (though some might consider that the most bearable way to get through Days & Coded, Coded is actually fairly fun as a DS action RPG even if it's story sucks balls & while Days isn't as good from a combat POV, it's still fairly decent). Not only have they done a great job with the HDfying of these games, they've made some QOL changes to the gameplay (i.e. controlling camera with the right analog stick in KH1), vastly improved the OST quality and 1, 2 and Birth By Sleep are the Final Mix versions (previously Japanese exclusive releases with tons of extra content across all the games that the western gamers never got in our versions of the games, KH2 is improved by a fuckton by all the additions, KH1 & BBS less so but the added content is still appreciated).

You don't need anything else but Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMix & 2.5 HD ReMix. They are PS3 exclusive with no PS4 or PC versions in sight. There will also be Kingdom Hearts 2.8 for PS4 in the near-ish future that will have the final remaining handheld-only-so-far game + a couple of meaty extras in the form of an KH3-quality playable scenario and another (short?) movie.

Are we talking the CG intros? It's pretty much a nice visual recap of the series up to that point with a hint of KHIII at the end. Nothing really confusing about that, though it is pretty damn straightforward.

Compared to say, Birth by Sleep's intro, where a majority of it was reused from the KHIIFM+ secret movie, and a good chunk of the original stuff is confusing imagery that doesn't even make sense in the context of the game for the sake of looking cool (Why are Terra and Ventus running through a flooded Castle Oblivion hallway?)

I went back to the PS2 version of US KH1 out of morbid curiosity today, and holy shit. I wouldn't say it's unplayable, but the PS3 tweaks go a long, long way towards making the best out of a pretty stilted combat system. I don't see how anyone could go back to the PS2 originals. (Outside of speedrunners, because of the loading times; That's a pretty small niche, though.)

Haha, always look at the positive sides, right?^^

Yeah that's what I meant! I'd convinced myself it would be out by Christmas.

I don't expect 2.8 to be out until the end of the year and was hoping this would bridge the gap (

It's the other way around. 2.8 will bridge the gap to KH Chi release.

Dunno if anyone's familliar in this thread with 50hz issues (if you're a eurogafer you probably are) but the version I grewup with not only had that but suffered from the whole game being 17% slower to the US/JP versions and having borders on the top and bottom. There's no way I would under any circumstance go back to that nightmare, and it's a miracle I managed to get through it in the firstplace.

With that said though I have always wanted to try my hand at KH speedrunning. All of them look extremely fun to runthrough even if there's a heap of variables that come into play for getting a good time.
Damn, everytime I see this thread bumped I hope it has some news about KH: Chi being released.

Disappointed now.
Blood Diamonds has failed us.

Just completed 358/2 Days
HD Videos
and also finished Birth by Sleep
again
.

Maybe it's just me but it seems like a lot of KH games have sad endings, like nothing happy happens.

I might tackle Chain of Memories in the future but AFAIK
the ending isn't quite as happy or something

I mean Sora just goes to sleep and will end up completely forgetting Namine. So yeah, not too happy.
Riku doesn't really end on such a sour note (though I honestly don't remember where he's going by the end, just that he gets the cloak).

Edit: Playing through KHI Pround and wow, Ursula is just as bs as I remember. Gonna skip this and go to Halloween Town for a while.

Chain of Memories ends up on a pretty positive note, especially for the second best character in the franchise. A bit less so for Sora but Sora is also on the road to a better future so it's not all bad. Namine gets the shortest stick.

Your thesis is flawed. Namine is the second best character.

Nah, it goes Aqua > Riku > a couple of the better Org XIII members and THEN Namine (and >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sora, kind of funny how much I love KH but don't really care for Sora all that much, almost hate him at times, lol)
----

That gives a bit more hope for multiple playable characters. I mean, as a game with 7 keyblade wielders, of course it would be kinda ridiculous if we only got to control Sora, but I'm just waiting for confirmation on just how much we can expect to be in control of other characters or how controlled the switch between characters is. Just a short prologue & maybe a few shorter playable segments & sidestories here & there with other characters while the main scenario is still 100% Sora, or will we get to chance between characters more or less freely.

The second one has these nice bits (in the same paragraph):

So I beat BBS:FM on critical yesterday for the first time. Had no clue the "secret episode" was playable. Now for the most grindy section of the platinum.

This is the last KH game I need the platinum for until 2.8 releases and it looks like it'll be the most time consuming, even more so than Re:Chain. Doing the reports for all 3 characters will not be fun at all.

Im like in massive kingdom hearts withdrawal been watching the kh3 and kh 2.8 trailers for months. Ps3 died so no way to play any of them. And i dont expect 2.8 until late 2016 ugh.

Debatable.

Feels like the only reason I went longer for BBS was because I was an idiot and levelled Terra to 99 without realizing there was no trophy for it.

Idk, at least Re:Chain felt like just one really tedious thing (grinding) whereas BBS feels like every side objective is tedious and you have to do it for each character. The Unknown fight itself is making me reconsider getting the platinum since I have to do it 3 times.

BBS without a doubt has my least favorite side stuff to do. It used to be my second favorite in the entire series but after replaying them all with the remasters, I no longer think as highly of it. The story is really the only thing I love about it and the 3 character playthroughs was unique the first time, but now it's just tiresome.

Part of me also thinks that I'm just overwhelmed by the thought of having to do everything 2 more times once I'm done with Terra, because I'm already tired of this playthrough, but if I take it one side objective at a time I'll probably be able to handle it.

Get a copy of the PS2 version of KH2FM+ and play it on an emulator

There's an english patch and a 60 fps patch, and yeah, the latter is as amazing as you think it is. KH2 in 60fps is fucking glorious.

Honestly, you should just replay Kingdom Hearts 2.5 and get a better understanding of the lore than to waste time with that filler.

I feel like I just passed the test to see if I'm eligible to platinum BBS by beating Unknown/Mysterious Figure on critical with Terra. That shit was absurd and is easily the hardest fight in any KH game, period.

Falk

that puzzling face
Calling Terra vs MF hard is like calling Chocobo Racing in FFX hard.

It's not 'hard' that's the problem.
