Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Announced | Nintendo Direct

I can't enjoy this art style, Nintendo always rehash their older games, using LA as a base to make a quick buck this is almost a tower defense game with some crafting, pathetic, they can't make a tradicional 2d or 3d Zelda game anymore.
Yeah, I'm in a weird place myself. I liked the Link's Awakening remake in terms of playing the game, enjoying the gameplay, etc, but I also don't really favor the art style. At the same time, it may be the best chance to get some new 2D Zelda coming, so I'll take it if that's the only thing being offered, but I agree that I'd love to see a different art style in general.

I just randomly got vibes to the old skyrim item duplication glitches. Like making a stairway out of infinite spoons.

Never once did I ever want Nintendo wasting resources to take a side character, no matter how important and make that person a hero of a game.
Joke post...or? Zelda is the main character of the franchise, like, it's literally named after her(technically it's Link, but I mean...technically Link is just a non customisable player character really).

Anyway, I find it funny people cursing this game over a Zelda game actually starring Zelda(and blaming wokeness or whatever) and people complaining about Zelda not playing exactly like a gender-swapped Link.

As for the game itself. The mechanics look interesting. Was wondering what they were gonna do with the Link's Awakening engine and the handheld Zelda template. Good to see both were put to good use.

I don't like this new art style trend for 2D zeldas, give me back something less plastic like four sword adventure/minish cap
Agreed, although I can understand them wanting to use the engine for a mainline game. But hopefully they’ll move on to something new after this.

Hoping for the same with the 3D Zelda’s and that the next one doesn’t use the same BotW/TotK style.

This seems like it is going to be more of an action-puzzler which I am fine with. I played through ALBW, maybe last year, and it wasa awesome, but the combat in these 2D Zeldas is... not great. You can see why modern devs making games like it add parryshit. It might be why I liked the DS games as much as I did.

For me, it just needs one tweak and it's the eyes. Make them like they did in ALBW and you have, imo, a really nice iteration of that art style.

"you might be surprised at what you discover" as the trailer proceeds to spoil all sorts of things that would have actually surprised you.
I mean this is Nintendo. If they’re showing all of this right now, you know they’ll take this mechanic to some really weird places..

Wouldn’t surprise me if we’ll be able to make echoes of NPC’s and have Echo Ganon fighting Ganon as the final battle or something.

PS1 did this better with Brave Fencer Musashi. It still allowed sword combat, which expanded throughout the game, but let you use the sword to absorb powers from enemies and objects to fight enemies with different abilities and clear obstacles.

Would have preferred one with traditional combat (the rod/magic projectiles?), but I'll keep my eye on it. I'm sure Nintendo overlords will make sure it's great.

Need me some Oracle of Ages/Seasons, Link to the Past in this style too. And Link Between Worlds HD port

Unfortunately I manage to think it was ALTTP in Link’s Awakening style before the traiier focused on Zelda. Not my cup of tea but my wife wanted it.

This is fucking retarded on so many levels. You have one job, Nintendo.. why must you keep neutering the Zelda franchise and be pussies about not using actual weapons (you know, a sword that won't break like a toothpick), to even now completely omit any form of weapon??
Fuck right off , Nintendo. Your bitch mitten ways are insufferable now.

It's a family friendly game aimed mostly at a young audience.

What did you expect? Zelda walking around with a AK-47?

It's straying away from sword combat. A Zelda staple. It's about the Sword and the one who wields it.

Don't get me wrong, the game looks like a great game, but not a good Zelda. Them changing the formula doesn't breath fresh air into it, it's simply straying from what makes Zelda a Zelda. It's clear Nintendo doesn't want to associate itself with weapons of any sorts.

Not a joke. Zelda is not the main character, Link is. Zelda rarely even shows in any of the games except for key scenes. She is a major support character in every way.

Anyways, she’s a main character in this game.

I don’t run a video game business so what do I know but I would wager a remake of Oracle of Ages or Seasons would have performed better than this will. This is what we got though so yay!

The point of a game like this is that it's an outlet for developer creativity so that they're not stuck in the same paradigms in perpetuity, and it's low stakes since it's not a mainline Zelda game. Not sure why all the bad feels about doing something different.

I think its due to the thirst for traditional. The last non-botw related zelda game we got was SSHD

Its like being mad at nuts and bolts for not being the banjo threeie that people wanted it to be

Man of all the art styles to pick from, they picked the worst one...

Gameplay looks interesting enough. Don't care if it's playable Zelda this time as long as it's good. Feels like they're trying to BotW-ify top-down Zelda which I'm not crazy about.

I wonder how the echo thing is limited. The RTS kid in my heart just wants to summon an entire army and just fucking overrun everything.

I was kind of disappointed initially when watching live, but it really warmed up to me when I rewatched the trailer after.
