Ugh, all the good ones are exclusive. I need Infernox and that Mech!

This explains why barnes and noble didn't have them listed online. I found a Merlok's Library at the local target. I'll have to order the other 2 online once they come up for sale.

My daughter just came over to me while I was working and told me she wants to build more stories/floors on her little corner shop she created, but only could do so by tearing it down due to limit of pieces.

I told her to break it apart if she wants to modify, keep it built if she likes it, or take a part of it off and remake it into something else.

She couldn't make up her mind and was genuinely distressed.

I wish i had kid problems :p

Just got tahu, uniter of fire. When he's combined with Ikir, he's probably one of my favorite things to come out of the Bionicle reboot. Yes, he's super busy and overdesigned and im not really a fan of him when he's on his own due to weird proportions and clashing textures but for some reason when you slap ikir on his back he becomes fucking awesome. Also that wing flapping function is perfect.

Why's that?

Personally, I have a soft spot for the older sets. No stickers, for one. And what feels like fewer custom pieces. Sure, there's not as much detailing, but they feel more... LEGO-y to me than the late-00s/early-10s sets...

(The TFA sets are an improvement in my eyes, though. I've actually got all three TFA ships waiting to build...)

The older sets just don't look right to me. They're too "off", too rough, not as detailed.

I think I get what you mean, in that there's a trend towards custom pieces that just doesn't feel very LEGO -- like how modern LEGO City airport jets have custom nose and tail pieces that aren't brick-built.

But to me, most of the modern Star Wars sets are still on the right side of that line, where they still look like you could independently build something like it if you were smart enough. I feel like most of the older Star Wars sets look like something child me could have MOC'd, which isn't something I like.

Again though, having said all that, I love that old X-Wing :)

Thanks. Good to know. I was just looking over the latest LEGO catalog and noticed Merlok's Library 2.0 which I don't remember seeing.

Must get Nexo Knights sets for me:
  • The King's Mech
  • Infernox Captures the Queen
  • and the Ultimate minifig sets
I will probably get most of the other ones on sales unless for some reason the minifigs are super cheap in aftermarket.

Jestro's Evil Mobile is a must get.

Eh, somehow the King's Mech and that Queen set don't really appeal to me that much apart from the figs which look great!

Personally i feel that Jestro's Evil Mobile looks a lot more finished conceptually as an actual set as does that little Chaos chariot set ( dat Demon Pac-man action).

No Walmarts on Belgium. :D Cheapest i saw was 105 euros. It might come further down in january, when discount month starts.

I won't mock it probably, and i don't have many spare pieces :) It is just such a cool ship, and I love to have a Kylo fig.

I have the shuttle and the build was fun at first, but did become a drag. During the built I thought it looked like crap. But once it was complete, I did started to love it more and more. It is very tall and awesome looking. It is a cool spaceship, even if it is not that accurate. I wish Lego did an official fix like with Wall-E, for at least the wings. The shuttle is 130€ normally, at least you would expect it to be able to go in fly mode.

Anyone here have Kylo's shuttle? After seeing some quick fixes for the wings, I'm thinking I'm ready to grab this set. It looks so awesomely-evil.

As others have said it appears that TLG didn't have enough details so it isn't black, nor do the wings move from the landing position.

That having been said, it's still a terrific looking ship that displays very well. The upper portion of the wings fold down using an elegant technique.

Really tempted to get this one.

I got 75039 V-Wing Starfighter for Christmas from my GF (I had made a wishlist of some older sets and she chose that one).
Now that we're home from the holidays, I was finally able to put it together over the last two nights. It looks great! But it can't support itself with it's wings folder out.

What do you guys use for stands for ships like this? I think I am just going to go to the Lego store over the weekend and pick up loose pieces to use as support posts.

Don't just go for any old pieces. Clear pieces are great for this purpose. Try the wings from the Wonder Woman plane in the Bat-mech set, or a stack of round 2x2 clear parts. For bigger/heavier sets, a column made from 4x4x6 corner windows (usually in Friends shop sets) can be great.

Clear, acrylic risers. You can get 3 for 10$ and they look better than lego built stands. No fuss either.

I got mine on amazon after seeing a fellow gaffer's lego ships displayed on them. I'm buying more too.

These look like they could work really well. This looks to be the set you mentioned:
76026 Gorilla Grodd Goes Bananas

Can you recommend how to ID the actual wings and how to buy them?

Interesting idea. Do you mean something like this?

Can you direct me to a picture of someone who has done this?

Just like those.

I'll take pics of how I display my own ships on those stands later tonight when I get home. (I like posting lego pics!)

I can't believe that F150 got though the design process... As a truck lover thats just disapointing! :(

Yeah, and I am not generally a fan of the rest of the speed champion vehicles because they all have the same general shape which makes them not look very much like the real thing.

Isn't the problem with risers that you can't put the ship in different poses ( they have to be posed flat just like on a regular table) and also that ships that can't stand on their own in certain poses actually NEED stands that allow for a different angle in order to even be displayed.

The Avenger set Lokis Cosmic Cube Escape 6867 is, to this day, the best lego truck I have ever built.

Yeah I bought that set for a Hawkeye minifig and fell in love with the truck afterward.

One of the first sets I bought after my dark ages with the creator offroad power set. The truck in that one is real nice too and pretty big over all.

Well shit, i just noticed that that BTTF DeLorean set from a while back has now just about tripled if not quadrupled in value.

Kinda shocked too since imo it's not THAT great a set... I haven't opened mine yet and now wonder whether i should at all or just sell it since you CAN get Marty and Doc in Dimensions sets now. Are they the same or what? I think Doc has a different hairpiece or something?

My sister got me Rey's Speeder for Christmas and I just sat down and built it and man let me tell you this is a great little set.

Fun build, cool looking vehicle, Rey's face and hair are pretty cute, the random bandit has a cool outfit.

Also this set is sold the fuck out in every toy store in my city post Episode VII.

All of the Scooby Doo sets have disappeared over Christmas, too. I need to get a Mystery Machine still. I guess they've been popular with the kids, so that's cool.

The ass end of that build was awesome. The rest was serviceable. Kudos for being able to transform it to hover mode!

Loved this set! Might be my favourite TFA set for now (though miss Falcon might object)

I just don't agree about Reys face. It has too much 'make up' to fit the character imo. I have her way to cool scarf and glasses on all the time, for that reason.

Yeah not a fan of the hyper use of makeup for Rey. It's not her at all.

Everything else is choice, though.

Curiosity (and xmas money) got the better of me and I decided to look into some of the Jurassic World sets.

HOLY FUCK, what's with the prices? I knew it was bad, but the resell value is incredibly bad, wish I got on them sooner now. Gonna bite my tongue and just get them I think before they get any worse.

Its one of the few new star wars sets that isn't overpriced. Kylo Ren's shuttle and the first order special tie fighter are $20 more than they should be. I wish they would just stick to the 10 cents per piece model.

It's a nice display piece with a few significant issues, but Back to the Future is very iconic and is also near peak hype due to the 30 year anniversary and the future date that was in the movie just passed. This is a one time deal set. Ghostbusters LEGO Ideas should be valuable, but there were probably a lot more produced. A possible car set based on the Ghostbusters reboot may reduce the value a bit, but I think the demand for the original will be affected too much.

I think I bought a spare one for "investment" or to give my kids if they ever got into it Quadrupled value though is tempting to sell and tell my kids they can fight over mine when I'm gone.

EDIT: And it has hover mode!

And the misspelling on the flux capacitor. That alone will be worth millions some day!

Hold on! Don't part with your hard earned money yet.

It was discussed in last thread there may be more on the way. Not sure if it's from some warehouse inventory or if they did another run, but the theme is still active at LEGO Shop@Home. Someone here that works at the LEGO store also chimed in. I forget who.

http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Jurassic-World-ByTheme

It states "Temporarily out of stock"

I will sell my extra exclusive raptor set I have if the aftermarket prices are outrageous. As much as I'd like a huge herd of raptors, I need to finance my future LEGO purchases.

Noticed that too. Bought 5 a few years back and waited. Was finally able to offload them this Christmas. Put that right back into some newer stuff lol.

Amazon US has quite a few back in stock for msrp.

So I have a $20 giftcard to Wal-Mart, and was thinking about picking up another Star Wars set. I noticed if you order Kylo's Shuttle online, it is $109, so with my GC it will be $89. Is it worth it at that price? Are there any other sets from TFA that would be a better pick up? I have Rey's Speeder btw.

Amazon US seems to be all over the place on prices right now. The TFA TIE I bought on warehouse yesterday for $45 is $74 today.

Two TFA 2H sets:

Encounter on Jakku
Resistance X-Wing

The second set should make those who wanted a "standard color" T-70 happy. I'm assuming there will be improvements, so hopefully they fix the wings.

Also 75145 Anakin's Podracer (Target exclusive) for the 1H. Was wondering what happened with that set...

And for Rebels, expect an adult Ahsoka Tano, as well as the new Inquisitors.

We are less than a month away from Toy Fair season, so expect more info to leak before the shows.

Grabbed Kylo Ren constraction at TRU today thanks to a 20% off coupon that was set to expire at the end of the month.

Since I was there yesterday, not many of the new items I saw go on the shelf sold out. There were still lots of Phasma constraction which initially I thought would move fast. I could speculate as to why but I won't. :) However, while I saw 8 or 10 Kylo Ren constraction yesterday, today I saw only three. So those seem popular.

Also I grabbed my first Nexo Knights set at Target... although it is a fairly underwhelming one: Merlok's Library 2.0. Since it's a Target exclusive I figured why not grab it while I was there to get some home supplies.

ghostmind: really curious about "Encounter on Jakku" as it could go in a lot of directions. I hope the Resistance X-Wing has Ello Asty with a newly molded head. Looks like aliens of his species appear more than once in TFA and we could be seeing more of them down the road, so the piece will come in handy for LEGO.

And as always, anything Rebels oriented has my excitement.

Speaking of Rebels... TIE Advanced Prototype is 31.99 on target.com
