All this negativity towards the USC Hoth set are the same complaints I have against the Bat Cave.

Disney Castle... you are our only hope

I'm just gonna load up on a few cheapie sets I've been putting off to pass $50 to get the promos and leave it at that. Way more interesting stuff coming in June and beyond. Hoth set is kind of ridiculous, even though I wanted it to be good... I hope LEGO is learning some lessons from the lukewarm reception it and the batcave have received.

It does look awesome but a little disappointing in that, for that price, it doesn't include any PF or anything. It's still a must buy for me, though.

I get people don't like the Batcave, I get it I really do it just makes me feel bad for it because I think people are giving it an unfair shake. And if I have to be the sole defender of it so be it. I really don't see it having the same problems as the Hoth set except for maybe the play set comparison. Even then thats one of the negatives that were cleared for me after putting it together and having it on display. It's really not as disjointed as my first reaction of it was and its more of a modular set if you will. I also get people have a problem with the price of it but again I think its unfair. It's right at the 10 - 11 cents per piece ratio with alot of great parts for the price. Again unfortunately though its not something people get a sense of till they open the box and find about 4 unnumbered bags full of big, unique expensive plates and struts. Also the figs are just awesome and you get alot of them and ALL of them are unique. That's one of my problems with the Hoth set is the minifig lineup is just awful to me. If they aren't going to have alot of unique figs then I think they should make up for it by including an extra large number of army building generic figs. Sorry, i must come off as a loon for defending the bat cave (hehe, get it) all the time but I really do feel bad for that inanimate object.

Wow, that looks really really good. I don't know what is about technic that keeps me away, besides me cutting back on sets and not needing to get into a whole other theme. I guess it just still doesn't feel like "Lego" to me.

Lego is overpricing their stuff yet again. $30 more than it should be. Ugh. Is this gonna become a permanent thing? Seems much more frequent lately. Yes I know its 'only' .11 cents per piece but that .01 can make a big difference with larger sets. That argument becomes less and less important the larger the set gets.

They also seem to be getting very comfortable with $300+ priced sets. The occasional one was ok but having multiple $300 sets in a year is hard to work around. I'm afraid how much that rumored Holiday Train is going to end up being. That and the new Carousel may kill any lingering thoughts of me getting the GB HQ.

Are those brick separators in that build?
Just kidding.
I'm not a car person and I'm avoiding getting into Tecnic sets, but that is a nice looking car. No doubt we'll see people build it in alternate color variations.

Is that a Batcave extension set? A bit disappointed in the mini Samurai X Mech.

At this point id bank on the Castle being $200 and being a little bit of a letdown build-wise, and the holiday train being $120ish for 1500 pieces with no track.

The instruction manual and inner packaging are amazing! Now we can see where the extra cost went into (outside of the licensing cost).

I read that this may be a limited production run like the LE Crawler. Anyone else hear that?

I had read that rumor earlier today on another site but then immediately saw it shot down by someone saying this was a set shown at a toy fair this year where they typically do not show retail exclusive or limited edition sets at toy fairs in previous years, so one would assume that would rule out this being limited in any nature.

It's definitely not what I had pictured for a "UCS" Hoth set. It's a bundle of sets packaged as one. Plus it's way too expensive. I would rather buy Ewok Village at this point.
My sentiments exactly. I'll wait for a price drop on the Hoth set, and get Ewok Village first before it disappears.

You are not wrong good sir. That is exactly what I was looking to build for a Bat-puter area along with another vehicle launching bay and a perfect launching pad for a Bat-plane.

I really hope the Holiday Train doesn't include tracks to keep the price down. I have a few track already and I would prefer to have the choice to buy them separate. And damn it I keep forgetting about the Disney Castle coming out. Half of me hopes its bad so I don't have to buy it.

Thanks for the info. That would make it a little easier to get. Swallowing a $300 pill is another story.

If the castle is 200ish, it will be no bigger than the town hall modular in size and pieces and that's if it's not a bunch of new colors and doesn't contain many Disney figures.

As for the train, these special trains never come with track, power functions are not included and are usually 120ish. Maersk, emerald express and the other one were all in that format. It's been that way for a long time. If it comes with track and power functions it would probably be at least 180 dollars.

Really like that Porsche, and it would be my first big (or even medium) Technic set. If it was a bit cheaper it would be a no brainer, but I was planning on getting Slave 1 in May, so this is would be a big hit on the wallet.

Get Slave I, you will not be disappointed.

don't ask me for codes
Price for that Porsche doesn't seem that bad actually. Lots of big parts. Exclusive rims. New parts. Big, fancy instruction manual using higher quality paper.

Right, I don't mind when there are bigger or exclusive parts. It's probably a better or equal deal than sets with lots of 1x1 pieces at 10c/piece.

The local store is now stocking GB HQ and Temple of Airjitzu, and the latter has a really good price at about 20% off the S@H price. I might grab it now, to build it once and then reuse the parts for a MOC.

Went looking for any new knockoff dinosaurs again today and noticed that while not new moulds, there are now "sets" that contain the T-Rex and Indominous Rex with new, unique printing. I-Rex is still white but its colors are greys and browns, not unlike camouflage. The T-Rex base color is a weird soft lime-green with black markings and orange around the eyes. They don't look like they're by the same group that does the other ones though so who knows how the quality is.

Edit: Also the I-Rex has what appears to be brick-built spikes on its back!?

i tried to do a thrift store run. i walked to the adress, only to find that the store didn't exist, at least not at that location

$12 for these. Burj Khalifa is brand new and the old sets look complete in great condition. I just built the cargo plane.

Your thrift stores must be nice. Mine either put that stuff on ebay or price it too high. They wised up fast. Those vintage sets are so nice, need more. I actually had that Futuron set several times but never liked how bulky it was.

There is no good thrift store around here. And I now know there is a guy in town that just goes around town buying up clearance and thrift LEGO to resell later. It is actually how he makes his living. So the likelihood of finding crazy deals like that are probably very low for me now.

42056 Porsche 911 GT3 RS designer video:

http://youtu.be/L5wy0YhCuuA

HOLE. EEE. CRAP.

The model itself looks really, really good. But am I a bad and superficial person for thinking that the packaging and instruction booklet are shooting this up to the top of my must buy list? That is the type of thing that we should expect from any flagship or UCS set.

Now, if this thing allowed adding power functions or remote control, it would be even better.

I still long for the days of Model Team to return. Super detailed and working technic interiors, and highly detailed UCS style exteriors.

Yeah, this is a must buy. DAMN IT!

Pure packaging porn.

Dat manual.

Wow. The whole presentation really is stellar - I hadn't seen the designer video until now.

There are way too many "big" sets I want and I'm already unable to build the ones I've purchased.

Digging into the car backlog in honor of the Porsche - 75873 Audi R8 LMS Ultra stickerfest is up next.

The next logical step for them to go with pure packaging porn is to make the instruction manual hardcover so you can put it on your shelf or coffee table. Just make their next UCS Star Wars set like that with tons of facts and behind the scenes stuff from how the part was done in the films. Maybe take stuff from the JW Rinzler books.

I need to get some Elves sets. I feel those are going to be some really weird cult following sets in a few years. They are scratching a fantasy itch something fierce, but not enough to make me go and buy them all.
