Let It Die |OT| F2P roguelike Dark Souls with a skateboarding skeleton

I few days ago I found out you can toss weapons by pressing X + left or right on the d pad when trying to figure out how reloading works. There's a few things this game doesn't explain very well like when it gives you the reloading tip it says "reload pressing L2 or R2 + X" it doesn't really work like that, you have press X then press L2 or R2.

What about the waifu and husbando depot?

jk

Well shit... I didn't realize you could do THAT either.

Speaking of Souls, we need Dark Souls 2 hitboxes for the drop kick. I miss like 70% of the tries even though it feels very accurate lol.

Wait, toss like drop? Or can you throw weapons at enemies?

Toss like drop. I would open up my inventory and trash things that had no ammo or were about to break.

It would be be awesome if you could throw weapons at enemies and stun them or something

I love this games style, but the F2P stuff everywhere and the lack of a platinum trophy (as stupid as that sounds) mean I'm probably not going to keep playing it.

Yeah this game would've been much better if it had a one time price attached. I mean it's obvious why they went f2p but man all the mechanics and grinding are so fucking dumb.

I don't think it would be nearly as popular if it weren't free. I definitely wouldn't be playing it otherwise.

Just started this. Thanks for the informative OP! I imagine blueprints seem fairly important in picking up? I only just got to 3F so far but seems pretty decent; hard to complain with the price.

I'm kinda losing a lot of steam with this having to go back and re level a new character to face new harder content. It's pretty asinine and really feels like they just did it for no good reason.

Well to me that's what the defense stuff and expedition stuff was put in for. Once you are done with the weaker bodies you use them for protection or resource farming to help your new body

How is it helping a new character when I still have to go out with the new character to get XP to level up? There's no way to bank XP between characters so doing expeditions and raids is pointless with regards to leveling a new character to max.

I'm not bothered about finding a use for my old characters, it's the thought of having to replay huge chunks of the tower that I've cleared plenty of times over by now to just get a new character up to my current floors difficulty.

The game in this state is practically a beta so they could've released a few public tests and bam.

Easy $$$ sounds more appealing though.

They give you money and materials which you use to upgrade gear and buy gear, this let's the new characters by default be way stronger than the old ones were by default. Pick up the multiple boss kill quest while you are leveling as well. It goes quickly and you get some extra elevator cash / death medals.

The system in place makes sense and they added in extra fetures that make use of it.

Money and gear isn't the problem though, it's having to replay the content so much, I'd rather just progress with the game than all this grinding I'm doing to level new characters.

I can understand the frustration of it, but on a positive note of it all the new characters Stat growth blows away the others so you get back to the point of power with your old character very quickly.

The multi-tiered character stat growth reminds me a little of the other Gung-ho game I play... Puzzle and Dragons.

In that game you also level up characters to a maximum, and then start over with a new higher maximum level. If you graphed the stat increase it's pretty much a steady increase with a few dips.

Death Metal vs. Magic Stones are another obvious similarity.

Yep, you're on the right track. Gotta go up to go down.

If you weren't carrying anything worthwhile, you can always go up with a different fighter and get your other one back for free. The higher I climb, the more that option is appealing.

That unknown area is Ukongaoka. Just need to get that elevator and I think I can pretty much spam that boss. Man, I found 4 pillbugs and the great thing about them is they heal 450 each.

Edit: Got the elevator safely!

That's the only cellphone game I've kept on my phone in almost 4 years for longer than a day. Really enjoyed the 3ds version too. Haven't touched the phone one in a while but it's so good it's never leaving my phone

Hawkian

The Cryptarch's Bane
4 Death Metals via remote play from Uncle Prime. Love you Unc.

Really hope I have the chance to play a bunch of this tonight.

edit:

As a capital F Free game this is a badass product that is worth at least a try from anyone and it will give me dozens of hours of play without having to spend a dime. As a full-priced release I wouldn't have even looked twice at it for months. There's a lot of stuff to spend money on out there right now.

Blueprints are very important and can be considered "account progression" because you unlock them forever, and can then have more or less easy access to that item whenever you want it.

Here are some other newbie tips if interested: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=226343561&postcount=2079

When you get "in the hole" in this game (best characters dead at high levels and no cash) it can be a slog. I think I spent most of todays playtime trying to hunt down my Haters with a lowly 2* armed with brainshooms (and grinding up 60K to salvage two blueprint laden shits)

While I can certainly understand not liking it (not crazy about it myself) it is a staple of roguelikes, as are a number of other things people are incorrectly attributing to it being F2P (the F2P "hooks" are a bit more obvious and less tied to what the game is fundamentally about)

Has anybody started to compile a list of what shows up where? I've noticed that each area seems to have a tendency to drop a specific type of material, and if Gamefaqs is to be believed, the stamp machines for each floor always show up in the same area.

Right now I'm desperately in need of iron scraps and cotton, but I don't know where to look for them.

But the content doesn't randomize itself enough to be comparable to other rougelikes I've played, this game is just preset rooms attached in different ways and some floor layouts are identical every time you go through them.

I'm really enjoying the game which is the annoying thing, I want to keep playing and progressing further but not if I have to do floors over and over again. I need to find a better way to level characters quickly to get back to where I'm at in the tower. This is happening with my 3 star character by the way, I've been through the lower floor content a lot already.

Oh fuck, forgot about maintenance. Guess I'm buying the bathroom upgrade. I don't want to stop with like 100k Splithium. I don't think I can get 80k in an hour of raiding, at least I don't want to chance it.

What i do is keep some money in the rewards box, but if i reach this point i grind raids until i get both the rescue fee and a bank/etc upgrade so it doesnt feel like wasted time.

Let it Die reddit is useful.

Just logged in into the game and saw the notice about the premium decal exploit and how exploiting a glitch would result on removal of items, temp suspension or permanent ban.

Glad they're taking this seriously

Not lucky on my last runs,I seem to get the harder maps,I took the right fork from the first floor last night and went all the way around and back without finding an elevator lol...killed Coen again but basically right now,I am stuck at Jin-Die with my 3 max level 25 characters...at least I am finding blueprints and leveling up every weapon. ;)

It doesn't take that long to level a new player. After the first it's a pretty quick push.
