For some people it's a hobby. For some it's a fetish. Dont bother trying to understand fetishes -- they are what they are.

I'm not a furry nor have I ever been sexually attracted to them, I do remember having a fondness of the gorilla from the original Ghostbusters. I had to have been in Kindergarten at the time if not before that. I think it was the first sign I was going to be gay and to have a sexually attraction to muscular hairy guys.

It stems from a dissatisfaction with reality, kind of a mild, non-specific, body dysphoria that applies not necessarily to the self, but to humanity in general.

That's how I see it.

Like any other fetish, I doubt you could narrow it down to a specific set of causes. Varying degrees of animal anthropomorphism have been present in the culture since pre-history, so it's understandable for those visual elements to be drawn into the collective unconscious along with other common fixations like maids, jockstraps, military uniforms and the like; then manifesting to some degree in the preferences of any given person exposed to the right combination of influences.

Though I'm curious as to why you find pedo/hebephilia to be more relatable than anthropomorphic characters - the latter are usually stylised adults, after all.

Question: Guy im dating texts infrequently and inconsistently. When he is away on vacation it's more infrequent and inconsistent. I get it, he isn't a big texter. I don't text him unless he texts me. I try not to get hung up but I want to clarify plans for NYE because he can potentially join my friend and I. He isn't a big texter and I am not trying to get too hung up on this. its only been a couple months and when we're together he is more affectionate than I am but when we're not together its 'poof'.
