Why hasn't somebody got the video of the fencing match and timed it? When you could manipulate the video at different speeds and equate that to real time you could be exact as to when the referee says start to the hit in how many hundredths of a second it was all totaled up. Start from when the clock hits :02 to accommodate for time below 2 but above 1 second.

(It's more of a tradition thing, really. The women are supposed to be "dancing", in a gracious way, while the men are more heavy on the solo. Music wouldn't go well with their performances.)
