Yeah Godfrey. He seems like a decent guy and I'm sure he tried his best so I'm probably being a bit harsh. I'm just beginning to wonder if the home crowd is really an advantage, some of the British competitors seem to be enjoying the occasion so much they lose their killer instinct.

Or can't handle the pressure of thousands of people screaming at every little thing you do. It's a mixed blessing, ndepending on how you handle pressure

(Archery)

And here comes the first of the Koreans; will we have any early Korean upset like yesterday, on the women's side?

(Archery)

29 to win the match! First Korean upset!

On the one hand, Van der Ven defeated a good opponent, and shoot very well, but on the other hand...big deal, the other guy was blind!

Wow anyone read how the Brit crashed on purpose yesterday?

"We were saying if we have a bad start we need to crash to get a restart. I just crashed, I did it on purpose to get a restart, just to have the fastest ride. I did it. So it was all planned, really."

Shameful, we were robbed of a gold medal.

They faked that mechanical error. Wow.

Just gonna keep posting this once in a while for people who didn't catch it:

McKayla Maroney's vault at 2:50.

Also, check out the slo-mo at 4:08 and look at the judge's expression to the left of her at 4:30.

Her landing is unreal and almost too good to be true.

What the heck did they deduct her for?

You mean the German crashed on purpose, as he did ride for Germany on the last junior WC ;) But the start did look very weird and it's a shame that you get another go for faking a problem.

And Ricky vdV gogogo, guy looks seriously cool/focused.

Source, remember how new guy is part German.

Phillip Hindes is ironically a german national and I don't believe that is exactly what he said (I've actually seen his post-race interview). Some argue that a lot was lost in translation when he was talking about the events in that race, and you certainly wouldn't talk about it live on national television if you did cheat.

We're also talking about an organisation that relegrated China and forced them into 2nd position just because of a fraction of a millimetre infringement. To think they didn't check the bike afterwards would be silly.

I don't know the rules in that situation, can you get another go for any crash, or only mechanical problems ? It can make a big difference.

I think it is mechanical problems only, within a certain distance after the start, not 100% sure.

I'm a huge track fan so if you guys want some clarification on anything feel free to ask me. For starters, unlike swimming world records are a huge deal. For example, the world record in the first event(shot put) was set in 1988.

Athletics stadium is pretty packed. Looks impressive

dat Jessica Ennis drawing power.

Wow. Embarrassing, to say the least, that the host country would behave like that.

DQ that team and strip away their medal, imo.

In that article it just says a British newspaper reports though. Hardly a beacon of facts if they don't name the paper.

This was the interview:

BBC:Did you pull a fast one?
Hindes:Yes we wanted to go fast.

Then Chinese whispers ahoy.

In the post-race press conference, Hindes denied it was deliberate when asked directly about his earlier comments.

"No. I just went out the gate and just lost control, just fell down," he said.

"My back wheel slipped and totally lost control and then I couldn't handle the bike any more and just crashed."

Not entirely sure on the rules, I'm no expert, but the guy on the radio said this is fairly common in cycling when there's a problem with the start and it's not strictly speaking against the rules. Gamesmanship perhaps, but not cheating - otherwise I doubt he'd have been so open about it - lol.

It's already been investigated and the powers that be said there wasn't a problem, so that's that.
