The derney brings them up to speed in a controlled manner. It also removes any disadvantages of having to ride in front; this means it's a fair start at 2.5 laps to the finish (full sprint), rather than having a messy and tactical first few rounds.

What seems a bit flawed though is in swimming it doesn't matter where you come from but in the velodrome there can only be one from each country which seems a little unfair

- moving target
- rapid fire
- cross bow
- cheap bow (not the one with all the things at the front for balancing and stablizer)
- individual all around
- team all around
